REMEMBERING JON PERTWEE : A RARE COLOUR TRANSPARANCEY PLUS STUNNING RESIN CRYPT MODEL KIT PICS!

REQUESTED from Phil Randell
ANOTHER dip into the colour images from rare contract sheets of Christopher Lee and Veronica Carlson in 'Dracula Has Risen From The Grave', the last for while, this is a request, so here we go.... an interesting shot from the studio's publicity photographer, with the intention of trimming the pic later, to remove those lighting cables on the floor out of the shot. I think, this was between poses too, both seem to be listening to the photographer. . .

TODAY WE REMEMBER Jon Pertwee who we sadly lost on this day in May 1996. Pertwee became best known for spending 18 years (1959–1977) playing Chief petty officer Pertwee in the popular series The Navy Lark on BBC Radio. But achieved world wide recognition from playing the Third Doctor in Dr Who whom he played from 1970 to 1974.

AFTER DOCTOR WHO He had continued success in TV playing the title character in the television series Worzel Gummidge from 1979 to 1981 (reprising the role from 1987 to 1989). Judging by the response, to this post at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE it is wonderful to see, Pertwee's admirers and following is just as strong as ever. He is still very much, appreciated and remembered!

DOES THIS 'THE MUMMY' kit figure grab you? I get sent quite a lot of photographs of figures and model kits, but this one is very good , I think. Resin Crypt's "Deadly Intruder" sculpted by Robert Price and.artist Nick DeAngelo has done an very good job painting and building the piece.

YOU SEE IT PRESENTED here, before the paint and after. The kit consists of 16 pieces and is 1/6th scale, which features include both figures of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing along with a highly detailed elaborate base including, globe, rifle and nameplate . .

THIS IS ALL reproduced from the stunning action scene, that takes part in the Hammer film of 1959, The Mummy, directed by Terence Fisher...and make up by the amazing Roy Ashton! Over at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE, we have asked for YOUR opinion on the figure, and the feed-back has been MOST postive!

MARKING THE ANNIVERSARY OF 'PETER CUSHING AND CHRISTOPHER LEE'S' FINAL MEETING: ONE LAST TIME

AS POPULAR AS EVER, a clip from the PCASUK 'Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee: One Last time' clipped was shared on the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE today . . .

ABOVE: MY TWO favorite clips from the series. The first a wonderful story from Christopher Lee about VINCENT PRICE and, here second both Cushing's and Lee's 'black sense of humour' shines through, with a message to Cushing, from Lee's wife, Gitta 😉

From the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE: 'THIS WEEK marks the last time Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee spent time with each other... as I am sure many of you know, that last engagement together was work, and the recording of the narration of Ted Newsom's Hammer films documentary, 'Flesh and Blood'. The date was the 17th May 1994, and both Peter and Christopher Lee sat to have some photographs taken for publicity, before recording. What started as a few questions, soon turned into an hour of candid and relaxed conversation and memories. Thankfully, unplanned the whole session was video'd, with a domestic video camera. We have shared much of that recording here, at the pcasuk website and our youtube channel . . .

THAT PETER would no longer be with us, in just a few weeks time wasn't expected. But, as far as Peter was concerned, he couldn't wait to be reunited with his late wife, Helen. Here's one of my favourite clips. As for more, you'll find them at our youtube channel... and new clips, stay tuned for May 26th this year 😀 . . . and we all know, what day that is? 😉

ROY HUDD played a small role with Peter Cushing in the Tigon film, 'The Blood Beast Terror' as the black humored, morgue attendant. MOTHERING SUNDAY AND THE CUSHING'S ON HOLIDAY AND MUM CAME TOO!

#‎MOTHERINGSUNDAY!‬ HAPPY MOTHERING SUNDAY to all our Mum's and Mom's in the USA! Below is Peter Cushing talking about his Mum!

ABOVE HERE IS A VERY RARE PIC of the Cushing Family, with Mum Nellie on holiday, in BOGNOR, of all places! From the left: GEORGE Cushing, Peter Father, then NELLIE Peter's Mother. Next ARTHUR Peter's Uncle, and Nellie's sister in law, WYN . An unnamed chap on the far right. At the front Peter's brother, DAVID on the left and a young smiling PETER on the right! The reverse side of this pic comes from a time when, a jobbing photographer would take your photograph at a sea-side resort, and process it on photographic paper that was also a postcard....so when you picked up your pic, you could write on the reverse side and post it off to your relatives and friends!

DANCES, BANQUETS AND BALLS!: Martita Hunt as The Baron's Mother, Baroness Meinster. There is a story that when Martitia was rehearsing the scene where the Baroness laments the loss of the time when the château was once the social hub of parties, banquets and balls, she inadvertently paused and placed prominence on the word....'balls'. Everyone in attendance, broke out laughing, Fisher included...she repeated this in the take that was shot and printed in the final cut of 'Brides'....

NEWS: A TERRIFIC TRIO OF CYBERNAUTS ON BLU RAY IN GREAT NEWORK PACKAGE!

GREAT NEWS for THE AVENGERS and CYBERNAUT FANS! As we all know Peter Cushing starred in one episode of the THREE Cybernaut stories that were in the 'Avengers' and 'The New Avengers' series. 'The RETURN of the CYBERNAUTS' is included in this new, remastered blu ray set form Network.

HERE IS THE PRESS RELEASE DETAILS FROM NETWORK: A TRIO OF CYBERNAUTS! There isn’t much more one can say about 'The Avengers', the global and stylish television trailblazer it is (by any standards), but we do have something new to present with The Cybernauts Trilogy. We’ve selected three high-points from across the run for this special 2019 release: The Cybernauts, their 1965 robotic debut featuring Diana Rigg; the 1967 follow-up Return of the Cybernauts, again with Diana Rigg and Peter Cushing guesting in one of his most sinister roles; and, making its world High Definition debut, 'The New Avengers' 1976 finale 'The Last of the Cybernauts…??' . We’ve pulled the original film elements for all three episodes into the Network studio for brand new, painstaking, High Definition restorations, exclusively for this release.

There’s much more to this release, though: as well as presenting the episodes in all their uncut, restored glory, we’re also presenting the option to watch each episode in its contemporary transmission context, with actual commercials in situ. Included in the package is a 32-page booklet by celebrated television historian Andrew Pixley detailing the history of the three episodes and there’s limited edition digi-pack packaging whilst stocks last. This really is the last of the Cybernauts. . . .'

OUR PCASUK feature on the chemistry of DIANA RIGG as Mrs Peel and PETER CUSHING in 'REURN OF THE CYBERNAUTS' in 'The Wooing of Mrs Peel!'! You'll find it HERE  along with a great GALLERY of GIFS, STILLS and more . . .

AND YOU'LL FIND MORE PCASUK coverage of this episode RIGHT HERE!

OVER AT THE Facebook PCASUK Fan Page we are asking, is this a really neat package! What do you think? 😮

3D CUSHING PRICE AND LEE? YOU CHOOSE! REMEMBERING CAROL MARSH

OVER AT THE FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE,  we are asking everyone to choose ONE film from the careers of  Peter Cushing Vincent Price  and Christopher Lee that they would choose to be REPROCESSED for a release in 3D! There have been many, interesting answers. DO feel free to join in!

Various roles in drama and comedy flicks followed, including the role of ALICE in another much loved version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND in 1949. It's for Hammer's first DRACULA though that she is most remembered...but her career was hardly a quiet one.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAROL

CAROL MARSH is one of many actresses, who worked with Peter Cushing that PCASUK has covered in its 'Cushing Femme Fatales' series of features. DID VERONICA CARLSON WORK WITH COMEDIAN DOM DELUISE? AND LEE AND CARLSON STEP OUT FOR 'RISEN 'FROM THE GRAVE'

A FEW DAYS AGO, pcasuk follower Stuart Cooper sent me a question, the subject of which, I thought no one would remember... 'Marcus, is it true that Hammer actress, Veronica Carlson once worked with US comedian and film star, Dom Deluise? I have looked into it and can't find any reference to it, so I guess it must be not true?' . . .

WELL YOU WOULD THINK the degrees of separation would make that the case, but no! Back in 1971, Veronica DID indeed work with Deluise, not on the big screen but on TV. The show was the UK 'Des O'Connor Show' she appeared in a 'slave-and-cave-girls' jungle hunters sketch, maybe because of her Hammer film success and their 'Slave Girls' 1967 film and 'One Million Years BC' success. Deluise did appear on the show too. The US actor comedian was also just about known to some of the O'Connor audience for his work and appearances in US sit coms, which were being screened in the UK, Shows and comedies like 'The Munsters' anyd his appearance in Mel Brook's 'The Twelve Chairs'. His other work with Burt Reynold's like 'The Cannonball Run' films and several other Brooks films, were yet to come!

FOR THOSE, over the pond or elsewhere, not familiar with Des O'Connor, he was a successful and popular singer / comedian at this time. Comedian's Morecambe and Wise had quite few long running and funny gags, Ernie's wig and hairy legs, Peter Cushing not being paid and . . . Des O'Connor, "Des - short for Desperate" ... "Sing on our show? He can't even sing on his own show!" "Has Des O'Connor got a sore throat?'... these gags ran for years and Des loved them.

THE CAREER OF VERONICA CARLSON and her work with Peter Cushing is covered in PART FIVE of our WOMEN IN GOTHIC  Series CLICK HERE!

VERONICA CARLSON worked with Peter Cushing in 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed' in 1969 and 'The Ghoul' in 1975. They remained close friends long after Peter retired. Thanks for the question Stuart. It brought back some very happy memories...
