PRESS OFFICE and PUBLICITY often did incredible and great work, promoting #PeterCushing movies. It's a TOUGH job, but if the current film that is about to be released is a bit of a dud, it's at times like these, the press office would take a little licence and ADD a few spices, half-truths and magic cogs, to the wheels of the publicity machine. Here are a just few, that turned up in some of Cushing's and Hammer movies.. oh and a MOTH from Tigon! Can you think of ANY others?? - Marcus
THE ONE
TIME the press office 'over-egged it!' The publicity Dept commissioned
poster artist Tom Chantrell to design a cinema poster for the
Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, last Dracula film together.
Chantrell
remembered the pose of the Count he included in Hammer's 'Dracula Has
Risen From The Grave' and tweaked it, to include a sacrificial rooster -
cockerel in Dracula's hand! This was a little much for the British
censor, who gave a No. This time, a scene with the bird, WAS actually
included in the film, that was no fiction. But gutted poultry on a
cinema poster was seen, as a little too much. ... how things changed!
