#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: PCAS ROLLS OUT VINTAGE PRIZES! MARCUS BROOKS: 'When I took over the reigns of PCAS back in 1979, I also purchased the entire PCAS collection from PCAS secretary Gladys Fletcher, who founded the society, upon Peter Cushing's request back in 1956. Many of the items in the collection we have doubles and triples of. All of these 'vintage collectables' came through Peter himself to the society, so they could be used in the posted members journals and newsletters. Everything we have multiple sets of or doubles, I am now offering up as prizes, for you to win !! There are press books, lobby sets, individual stills. No copies or reprints. Most come with stipes or press info from the time. As well as those vintage memorabilia prizes, there are dvds and blu rays, collectable magazines, original contact sheets from Peter Cushing films . .. a LOT of items, so lots of prizes, some of which will be bundled. I am sure we are going to have a lot of fun together, me compiling competitions, and you cracking those Cushing questions and puzzles. It's going to be a busy time here between now and Christmas, so hang in there, stay in the loop and join in the fun..and good luck'

ORDER YOUR PROFESSOR MODEL KIT : ON SET CANDID BARON SHOT AND THE ZOO GANG

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: An actors life is full of variety, IF they get the work and opportunities. Peter Cushing swapped the grim and gruesome settings of the Asylum hospital during the making of his last appearance as the Baron, in Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, for the sun and glamor of Cannes, in the South of France, when he made 'The Counterfeit Trap' an episode of tv's 'The Zoo Gang' in 1974.

FROM HIS 'Helen Hayes' wig, to this dashing blazer, tie and tan, that's quite a jump! The Zoo Gang was a great but short lived series, that was part of Lord Grade's ITC company, that also made quite a few other tv series that Peter appeared in in the 70's...anyone here seen it or remember this episode?? The Counterfeit Trap was first Broadcast in the UK on 3rd May 1974 and was 5th episode of the short lived series . . .

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: Just received these images, which I have made into a banner for you to sample. It's the amazing 'The Professor' Model Kit, from the people who produce the Cushinques, comic book, #THEPROFESSOR in Italy. This figure is one of a VERY LIMITED EDITION of just 50! To place YOUR order for one of very limited edition figures of ONLY 50 just email HERE!

AVENGERS NEVER SAY DIE: ISLAND OF THE BURNING DAMNED CONCEPT ARTWORK

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! I have been asked for YOUR opinion please.... which of the designs do you PREFER. The original US Vintage cinema poster design on the left OR the NEW concept artwork on the right? Please don't be shy in sharing your opinions on the style and artwork and maybe the reasons for your choice. Thank You! It's #CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY Today and there's some goodies on baddies coming up during the day!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY: Christopher Lee like Peter Cushing and many other top actors at the time guested on the classic TV Show The Avengers. Lee made two appearances on the show, first in the Emma Peel era episode 'Never, Never Say Die' And the second being from the Tara King era called 'The Interrogators' which was directed by Oscar-nominated Ealing Studios veteran Charles Crichton. Lee plays Colonel Mannering who is running a special interrogation course, established to determine the degree to which agents can withstand interrogation. Except that everyone who passes the course soon learns that all of their contacts have been murdered. And then, Tara is called in for a run through the course as well. Its a fun episode with Lee delivering a great performance as Mannering

LATE GEOFFREY BAYLDON INTERVIEW STARTS VINTAGE SERIES!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: THOSE OF YOU WHO are old enough to remember the BLACK BOX CLUB AUDIO MAGAZINES of the 1980's, will no doubt also remember the great line up of interviews on audio tape and video that made up the series. Many of the guests were actors, directors, make up artists and producers who had worked with Peter Cushing, who were still working, sharp as a tack, and had great stories and anecdotes to share.

Some FORTY interviews were recorded for The Black Box Show over the ten years it was operational. Now all of the interviews, the raw tape, outtakes, jingles, sketches and are in the process of being remixed and digitized. We are shaking off the dust and cobwebs, and re-releasing the shows for a new audience, as well as those who were with us, the first time round!  The FIRST program will include an interview we recorded with the late Geoffrey Bayldon, recorded at his home, way back in 1988. Our second program will feature a UNRELEASED interview with Peter Cushing from 1980. You can also look forward to interviews with, actors Jeremy Brett, Edward Hardwicke, Michael Ripper, Vincent Price, Michael Gough, Ralph Bates, Judy Geeson, John Carradine, David Rintoul, actor-writer Terry Jones, Ingrid Pitt, director Terry Gilliam, Colin Baker, Tom Baker, Sophie Aldred, make up artist Roy Ashton, writers Brian Hayles and Gary Hopkins plus many, many others. The uploading of our first program as a POD CAST and YOUTUBE upload is scheduled for just a few weeks time. So, check out our PCAS sites for news and details!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: 50 YEARS THIS MONTH!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY : FIFTY YEARS AGO this month, this interview with Peter Cushing appeared in the Evening News newspaper. Dr Who and the Daleks were big news following the success of the tv series and the first Dr Who Dalek movie the year before.. Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 AD was released on August 5th 1966 in the UK. The TWO Cushing Dr Who films, still stand as the only big screen outings of the Dalek's adventures. Cushing's Doctor is still regarded as non canon to the BBC tv series.

DOUBLE BILL OF CUSHING : RIGHT HERE!

A GREAT DOUBLE BILL OF GREAT PETER CUSHING DRAMAS has just been uploaded on to our PCAS YOUTUBE CHANNEL. The 1961 ' CASH ON DEMAND and 'THE MAN WHO FINALLY DIED' (1963). As mention on our posts at our FACEBOOK FAN PAGE during the weekend, look out for a whole series of very interesting uploads at the channel, featuring some of Peter Cushing's non-fantasy work, over the coming weeks. 'CASH' and 'MWFD' were made at a time when Cushing was trying to break, what he saw as, the threat of type-casting.

After an amazing run of work at the BBC through-out the 1950's, which continued up until the mid 1960's, the majority of Cushing's film opportunities after the broadcast of the BBC play '1984' and his first toe dip into Horror films with Hammer films, THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, were all with one foot, in the grave, so to speak. Horror or Fantasy themed. From 1960 until 64, Cushing was a little more selective in the the titles he chose..sadly, those titles didn't always lead to sound scripts and interesting characters. But, there are gems to be found and the two films presented here, give us a glimpse at the range Cushing was indeed capable of, when away from the dark shadows of the horror genre, that would soon consume his career.

A firm favorite, Cash On Demand and another from the selection of dramas that Peter Cushing made during the early 60's. It's a great watch, with a fine two-hander performance from Cushing and Morell. Yes, it does have a Christmas angle, but this one can be watched any time of the year. To hi-jack a certain pharse . . . 'A rogue IS'NT just for Christmas'- Marcus

MORE TO COME....!
