#THROWBACKTHURSDAY!
Remember THIS? Cushing's Tarkin and others SING. Kinda. 'It's Not A
Moon'... was released and posted here back in March 2018. Written, sung
and created by the super talented Bad Lip Reading. I found it again this
morning and made FATAL mistake of pressing play. It's been on repeat
ever since! Clever, catchy and outrageously funny, me thinks. Has an
excellent video edit to boot. Still makes me howl...and sing along too π What do you think?
#THROWBACKTHURSDAY!
1975 . . that year, Cushing was in New York for the Famous Monsters
Convention, his debut at a convention in the Big Apple . . while Vincent
Price flew in and met wife, Coral at Heathrow Airport, London . . all
ready to start rehearsals for his role in 'ΓArdeleΓ' in which he would
make his West End debut...with Coral co-starring! So anyone out there,
who maybe attended either or both???? π - Marcus
FIRST TRAILER released today from the BBC supporting their eagerly
anticipated new version of the classic Bram Stoker horror 'Dracula'.
This series has been developed by #MarkGatiss and #StevenMoffat, the team behind the BBC series #Sherlock.
Much of the filming for this three part series took place at Orava
Castle in Slovakia and ... the iconic Bray Studios in England, home to #Hammerfilms and the location of many of #PeterCushing's and #ChristopherLee's classic Dracula and#Frankenstein films in the 50's and 60's.
PRODUCER#MarkGattiss has recently said, : “It’s seriously delightful that our new Dracula is being shot at #BrayStudios
– the former home of Hammer Films! This wonderfully atmospheric and
legendary studio gave birth to so many famous monsters and stars – most
memorably Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. As we watch #Transylvania
once again rise on the sound stages of Bray, it’s amazing to be able to
say that Count Dracula has finally come home.” The cast includes Claes
Bang as #Dracula . . John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Mark Gatiss...and #DoctorWho, #Space1999 and Bond girl, #CatherineSchell.
The series will be shown on the BBC first in the UK and on Netflix
outside of the UK. It’s not yet been revealed when it will be screened
on #BBC1 – however the festive period looks a fair bet. It's an interesting trailer.. what do you think?

THE VERY SAD NEWS of the passing of actor FREDDIE JONES reached us last night, has been marked with many comments and shared messages of condolences at the PCASUK Facebook Fan Page, yesterday and today. Freddie was 91 and had an impressive film, television and theatre career that stretched over a very busy sixty years. Most #Hammerfilm and #PeterCushing fans will know him for two Hammer classics, first Hammers Frankenstein Must be Destroyed and 'The Satanic Rites Of Dracula'.
MORE ON FREDDIE JONES and 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed' HERE!
IN 'DESTROYED' Freddie gave us a Baron's creation that was full of pathos and sadness. Who can forget his duel with Cushing in the final moments, where Professor Richer cranks up the tension by trapping Cushing's Baron in a blazing house!? Jones's portrayal of Frankenstein's indulgence, is probably is most complex of all Hammer films 'Frankenstein Monsters', who manages to spin the title of 'Monster' neatly into the lap of Cushing's Baron. There are few actors who could so convincingly share the interplay between Cushing Hammer characters and themselves. The tension and dread was pushed even a little further in the scenes which Freddie Jones and Cushing shared in #hammerfilms 'The Satanic Rites of Dracula'. Freddie's Professor Julian Keeley wobbles and sways from fear, to dread, lust and disgust in a shared A two-hander scene with Cushing, that is probably the highlight of the film.
MORE ON FREDDIE JONES and 'The Satanic Rites of Dracula' in our PCASUK GALLERY and REVIEW : HERE!
FREDDIE JONES also frequently worked with David Lynch with roles in 'The
Elephant Man' (1980), 'Dune' (1984) and 'Wild at Heart' (1990 ) His role as
Inspector Baynes in Granada television's 'The Return of Sherlock Holmes'
in 1988, with Jeremy Brett as Holmes is a gem. Freddie Jones always
brought much to every role. You never knew quite what was going to be on
the table, but it was always entertaining, convincing and very real.

WE
ARE SO LUCKY that Peter Cushing has left us such a large and varied
body of work, from his appearances on TV, his writing and of course his
film work. And if that wasn't enough,
the spirit of the man still echos in everything we do here. When alive,
Peter Cushing was so loved and respected. His acts of kindness are still
remembered by many who met, worked and knew him. They continue to
comment, write and share their stories here at our internet platforms.
And editing our content here, is a real joy, when it's always received
in the spirit of a man who made so many people happy, and left such an
impression on everyone he met.
ABOVE A TREAT for PETER'S BIRTHDAY TODAY . .. here is a NEW clip from our PCAS
video series, THE LAST MEETING, all made form the rare and candid video
footage that was filmed, when Peter and Christopher not only worked
together for the last time, but the last time they actually met before
Peters passing a short time later. Peter adored Christopher's company,
and this was a very special day for him, as he would hear all his
favourite stories, and jokes from his best friend... He was very very
happy this day. I hope you too, will smile while watching, what was a
very special friendship. With love from us all TODAY and every
day...Happy Birthday PETER!
PETER WILTON CUSHING was born on the morning of MONDAY 26th May 1913, at 'Ormandy', Godstone Road, Kenley, Surrey, UK...to father George Edward Cushing and mother, Nellie Maria Cushing. Peter's father was a quantity surveyor and Nellie was the daughter of a carpet merchant.
PETER WILTON CUSHING ' ...long curls, tied with a pink ribbon'. Aged just two in 1915. Little Peter had an elder brother, David, three years his senior. It appears that mother Nellie had her heart set on having a girl. 'Wanting 'one of each' she had mitigated any disappointment in my arrival by dressing me in girls frocks!', Cushing recalled..'allowing my hair to grow in long curls, tied with a pink ribbon. Eventually, 'father exerted his gentle authority' ... and Peter was more appropriately attired! .....All of that, began so long ago.

Maria Cushing, Father George Edward Cushing and a young Peter Cushing

Art Deco house on St James Road, Purley, Surrey, Peter's father, a
quantity surveyor built the house in the year this photograph was taken,
1926.

ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS, it's no hardship, promoting and remembering a
gentleman, who is still so dearly loved..who always gets a positive
reaction. The fact that his name always gets a smile when mentioned is
part of and proof of an amazing legacy. So, lets blow out the candles,
raise a glass, celebrate and remember the smiles AND the frights!.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PETER CUSHING.
