JUST POSTED AT FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE one of the last of our PCASUK #WATCHWITHCUSHING Facebook #WATCHPARTIES in our quest to entertain during the #LOCK-DOWN period of the last three months! 'DARK PLACES' is one of few lesser seen films of Christopher Lee. It's a ghost story, with a few twists and some nice little surprises. It's a film of time... when it was produced back in 1974, but a lot of fun.

54 YEARS AGO THIS MONTH : THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD!
54 YEARS AGO, this month Hammer films, 'SHE' starring #PeterCushing,
Ursula Andress, Christopher Lee and Bernard Cribbins opened in the UK on April 18th 1965!
At the time of the opening Andress was billed as the most 'Beautiful
Woman In the World'...maybe. Our PCAS album today, features Ursula in
the role Ayesha, 'She Who Must Be Obeyed!' in the movie. These three
posed 'on set' shots were taken by the studio photographer and quickly
sent to the press publicity office... though few made it into
the newspapers and magazines, which is a shame considering how amazing
she looks. Blessed with a beauty that the camera loved, it was Hammer
make up artist, Roy Ashton's job, to devise a whole series of make up's
that turned Ursula into a woman of several hundred years old...and dust!
How do you rate Andress with the many other attractive actresses who
starred in Hammer / Cushing films?

CORRUPTION : SUPER SPLATTER OR SHOCKING MISCAST?
FOR SOME NOT CUSHING'S finest hours! But there are many who consider his performance as SIR JOHN ROWAN in the film, CORRUPTION (1967) to be obne of his best! I can't say I personally sit on either stool. I like the film, but I can take or leave Cushing's performance. When the film was given a very impressive remastering by GRINDHOUSE a few years ago, it blu rays and excellent extra features package, flew off their shelves. Cushing had found a NEW audience, his probably one and onlY 'splatter' film! This little collection of GIF'S selected and requested by Carl Porter, ends with a fine example of how far, the violence is cranked up in this one and believe me, on watching the uncut European print, that was part of the GRINDHOUSE package, it doesn't stop there!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY! DOUBLE COMPETITIONS STRBLING AND SIR HUGO REMEMBERED!
#TOOCOOLTUESDAY! THIS WEEKEND is DOUBLE COMPETITION TIME! Happening here at the website AND at our PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE. Our COMPETITIONS are OPEN TO EVERYONE, WHEREVER you are . . . So BE SURE to JOIN us THIS SATURDAY and SUNDAY!
REMEMBERING: Melissa Stribling who was born today November 7th 1927. Stribling appeared in just the one film with Peter Cushing...but boy did she pick the right one! She also got to play in one of Hammer films most iconic scenes in their 1958 'Dracula', where Christopher Lee's Count, in the dead of night, visits her home and..without a word.. seduces her. The scene is so super charged with sexual tension, it almost crackles off the screen and as a result got the scissors treatment from the censors at the time. In 2013, in Hammer's restored print the exorcised footage was replaced, giving us the full picture of what Director Terence Fisher, Stribling and Lee had originally intended and created.
A LARGE scan of a superb vintage publicity photograph of Melissa Stribling as Mina Holmwood, in 'Dracula / Horror of Dracula ' (1958) #hammerfilms #dracula #petercushing
REMEMBERING DAVID OXLEY. (November 7th 1920 - October 30th 1985 ) Was there ever a more terrifying, evil, rip snorting, bag of fury than Oxley's portrayal of Sir Hugo Baskerville in the 1959 Hammer films production of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee? I must be honest, I actually find him more frightening than the hound!

I HAVE READ in several reviews of 'Dracula' both from the time of the films' release in 58 and in more recent times, that Stribling was a curious choice for the role of Mina Holmwood, that compared to the likes of Valerie Gaunt and other Hammer actresses, even though she was only in early 30's when she appeared in Dracula, many thought her slightly ordinary and plain. I totally disagree...but if that was the case, I can't help thinking that, director Fisher's choice in Stribling was intentional. That subtext in the story of Arthur Holmwood's wife being frustrated and bored, suddenly being charmed and seduced by the exotic and erotic Count, Stribling was...the perfect choice.

#GETTHE CUSHIONSUNDAY! TAKE YOUR PICK : LAUREL AND HARD BEHIND THE SCENES : CUSHING CLIP AND AMAZON PULLS BOOTLEGS
#GETTHECUSHIONSUNDAY! Ok I have deliberately left this post until today,
Sunday's are usually busy here and even more so, on our PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE where readers can comment on the thread đŸ™‚ I have been approached by a major player
in blu ray and DVD distribution... and they have asked me to supply the
following... ' Select ONE HAMMER film, ONE AMICUS film and ONE from any
genre from the careers of BOTH Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee from
any OTHER studio....' That's it. Here you can send us a email or message, using the comment button. Can you HELP please đŸ™‚ Let's have your
suggestions.... Thank you, Marcus.
#GETTHECUSHIONSUNDAY!
Here's one you may want to copy and look a little close at. Behind the
Scenes photographs of from the LAUREL and HARDY film 'A Chump At Oxford'
(1940) which as you probably know, also features a young Peter Cushing!
Some wonderful snaps here. I love the one of Stan putting on his make
up! Cushing is the one bottom left.... when Peter spoke about the film,
his memories were of Olly sitting at a trolley eating donuts to keep his
weight up and Stan planning the stunts and business that was happening
on the shoot on those days. LOVE Laurel and Hardy and love the fact that
Peter Cushing got the chance to work with them, all those years
ago..... — with laurel And hardy, Peter Cushing and A Chump at Oxford.
#GETCUSHIONSUNDAY!
I wonder how many of you have managed to see this great little thriller
starring Stanley Baker, Peter Cushing, Jack Eric Portman and Mia
Zetterling . . . ? The Man Who Finally Died, it's a real tense little
thriller, that had me guessing until the end. One of my top five non
fantasy genre Cushing films. Here's a neat clip, for a taster....

UPDATED!
You remember our news about a 'company' that was putting out several
REALLY poor quality dvds of Cushing's films on ebay and Amazon? Well
following emails and messages to those sites, the bootlegs have now been
pulled. Thank you for your help on this . . .
