I once had a chance meeting with George back in 1979, we talked about this and his artificial prop head made for this delightful act of trephining 😮👀 He told me how they made his rubber head, that they had to make a whole head plaster cast of his head and 'I spent the whole morning with straws up my NOSE!' ... charming! Peter of course consulted a specialist, just to make sure he had the right drill bit and .. stomach for it! Hmmm, thrilling-drilling! 🤮 - Take care everyone, Marcus

INTERESTING FOOTAGE, where extra BLOOD is being applied to George Pravda's head make up. Although, his character on screen was never seen with this EXTRA gore in the UK theatrical prints. One must again, add this one to the 'footage for the Continental Print!'  . . .

PROBABLY, PERSONALLY ONE OF MY ALL TIME favorite photographs of #PeterCushing. Taken on the set of the 1977 'STAR WARS', by continuity supervisor, Ann Skinner, Cushing between takes with Dave Prowse and Don Henderson. Prowse worked with Cushing on his last Frankenstein film for director Terence Fisher and Hammer films, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell and Henderson worked with Cushing on Tyburn films, 'The Ghoul'

RARELY SEEN SHERLOCK HOLMES PHOTOGRAPHS : PC SIGNED STILL COMMANDS GOOD PRICES

HERE ARE THREE rarely seen publicity photographs taken during the making of the BBC television series 'Sherlock Holmes' with #PeterCushing in 1968 during the making of 'A Study In Scarlet'. As you will probably know, most of the episodes were destroyed by the BBC during the great BBC Spring Clean, where hundreds of hours of material were wiped and tapes reused or skipped off to the skip! All that remains of Cushing's episodes, were compiled onto first a VHS then a DVD collection, and are now available to give us a taster of what was a very popular television series, no largely lost . .

NEWS: DRACULA RESSURECTED AND LOOKING AMAZING ON WARNER BROTHERS REMASTERED BLU RAY

NEWS: TOMORROW IT ARRIVES! WARNER BROTHERS REMASTEDED BLU RAY RELEASE of Hammer films DRACULA AD 1972 is available FROM TOMORROW 16TH OCTOBER on AMAZON. If you are one of the few followers of Peter Cushing;s work or a fab of Hammer films and have never had the chance to see this film, and know little, brace yourself for opinions and reviews about the filma dnthis release, that will run the whole gumit from A to Z. Hammer Dracula fans tend to dislike like everything about it, while those of us, who maybe grew up in the 1970's see this as a nostalgic connection, to world and era that is usally based in the 18 or 19 hundreds! ASs a teenager in the 70's, I too wasn't a fan of the film. But then, I grew up and could then appreciate the humour and subtiies of the plot and the style of teh film. Now, it's one of my all time favs of Hammer films and the fantasy output of Cushing's and Lee's careers. For those who sadly wrestle and still have sleepless nights and can't recover or relate to the end title shot in DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE, (Why is that castle blaconey so FAR WAY from the brass cross that Dracula fell onto? Why oh why oh why???) the REMASTERING and fine presentation, of this Warner Brothers Archive Collection release will offer little. But for those of us who love the film, EVERYTHING is there, and wonderfully prestine and sharp!

DESPITE WHAT MAYBE THOUGHT ABOUT THE STORY CONTENT of this 1972 release, you ceratinly can't criticise the REMASTERING. If you too loved and appreciated the quality of the 'Warner Brothers Hammer Horror Classics Collection', RESTORED FIVE Hammer film BLU RAY BOX SET two years ago, then you are in for a treat. DRACULA AD 1972 was previously released on a German Blu-Ray, this was based on the same transfer created for the 2005 DVD release for multiple regions. Word has it that, The Warner Archive Collection reviewed that particular transfer and rejected it as . . . unusable.

THIS WARNER ARCHIVE COLLECTION 1080p, AVC-encoded Blu-ray, has been made from a NEW 2K scan by Warner's MPI facility of a recently manufactured interpositive. Color correction was performed using Ektrachrome transparencies, and thousands of instances of dirt, scratches and age-related damage were REPAIRED BY HAND, frame by frame. There are sadly no extras except for DRACULA AD 1972 trailer on this release, but for those of us who have waited a long time for this particular film  . . AND The Satanic Rites of Dracula, to be released soon.. to be remastered and presented on Blu Ray, visuals and audio are an amazing bonus in themselves. 

DRACULA AD 1972 is available on the US AMAZON SITE AND is an REGION FREE Blu Ray. The release of The Satanic Rites of Dracula has been moved to NOVEMBER 13th 2018. We are celebrating the release of both of these fine Blu Rays, with a month of AD and SATANIC posts AND A PCAS COMPETITION where you can bag several AD and SATANIC prizes, including copies of BOTH Warner's remastered Blu Rays of DRACULA AD 1972 and the SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA! #TOOCOOLTUESDAY: PCAS ROLLS OUT VINTAGE PRIZES! MARCUS BROOKS: 'When I took over the reigns of PCAS back in 1979, I also purchased the entire PCAS collection from PCAS secretary Gladys Fletcher, who founded the society, upon Peter Cushing's request back in 1956. Many of the items in the collection we have doubles and triples of. All of these 'vintage collectables' came through Peter himself to the society, so they could be used in the posted members journals and newsletters. Everything we have multiple sets of or doubles, I am now offering up as prizes, for you to win !! There are press books, lobby sets, individual stills. No copies or reprints. Most come with stipes or press info from the time. As well as those vintage memorabilia prizes, there are dvds and blu rays, collectable magazines, original contact sheets from Peter Cushing films . .. a LOT of items, so lots of prizes, some of which will be bundled. I am sure we are going to have a lot of fun together, me compiling competitions, and you cracking those Cushing questions and puzzles. SHE BEHIND THE SCENES FILM : COMPETITION NEWS : HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANE!

 

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY! It's the beginning of 1965 and early publicity photographs are being sent out to editors of newspapers and magazines to drum up interest for the arrival of #UrsulaAndress in #Hammefilms most expensive feature film to date '#SHE' ...BUT they are keeping the actual appearance of the actress who was once called 'the most beautiful woman in the world', under wraps . . . SO instead here is co star John Richardson and Rosenda Monteros, a top of that always 1960's iconic photo-popper..an open top sports car. #PeterCushng has been busy doing dubbing for the completion of Amicus films, 'Dr Terrors House of Horrors' having started shooting for SHE and Hammer in the sweltering Israel's Negev Desert from 24 August 1964. This shot was snapped at Elstree studios . . . .

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY : The audio is BAD in this cinema short about the making of, what was a the time, #Hammerfilms most expensive feature, #SHE'. Any vintage behind the scenes footage of #PeterCushing is a plus, even when it sounds as awful as this. I am posting this today as pointer to our NEXT PCAS Competition, which will be launch THIS SUNDAY 20th AUGUST 2017.
