SUZAN FARMER 1942 - 2017

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! : News is just coming through that that actress SUZAN FARMER has died. This is sad to hear. Farmer has special place in lots of Hammer films fans hearts, BBC Sci Fi lovers too... She appeared quite a few features with Christopher Lee..in Devil Ship Pirates with Christopher Lee and was outstanding in Dracula, Prince of Darkness . . . her shock reaction to seeing the count in the room, when she thought she was safe in the monastery...was memorable.

A talented actress and certainly gifted . . with appearances in Blake's Seven, Dracula Prince of Darkness, UFO, The Persuaders, Rasputin, the Mad Monk . . . she has a not too shoddy a body of work. Do you have a favorite role of Suzan's??

#GETTHECUSHIONSUNDAY! THE MUMMY ATTACK AND VAN HELSING STAKES!

#GETTHECUSHIONITSCUSHING: AFTER ALL THE excitement of the Cushing, Lee and Price birthday fun this weekend, what better than to follow it with this week's FIRST Chilling Cushing Clip..which also features, Christopher Lee in his celebrated role of Kharis in Hammer films, 'THE MUMMY'. You might think it rude for mute and bandaged Kharis not to call first or ring the door bell, but this creature is on a mission, and the mission is to KILL! 'The Mummy' followed the first TWO Cushing Lee classic Hammer films, in which they were cast together...The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) and the 'Horror of Dracula' (1958) . Do you think it's as good, as the previous first two Hammer horrors??

#GETTHECUSHIONITSCUSHINGSUNDAY! There couldn't have been a scene of more terror and shock for audiences back in 1958, when Cushing's Van Helsing staked the young Lucy, played by Carol Marsh in Hammer films, 'Horror of Dracula / Dracula'..well, if you don't count the seduction of Mina, the horrible death of Dracula in the sun, the slaying of the vampire woman in Castle Dracula, the shock value of Jonathan Harker being trapped in the crypt with Dracula...well, this film was and still is probably one of Cushing and Lee's most effective Hammer horror films, it turns up in most people's Top Five Hammer Horrors. Can you pick YOUR favorite MOMENT of terror in FIVE Cushing films...????

#SILENTBUTDEADLY : A COUPLE OF CRACKING GIFS REQUESTED BY COUPLES!

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: WELCOME TO OUR WEEKLY WEDNESDAY REQUESTED GALLERY:  GIFS HAVE NO AUDIO. ARE SILENT, THEY HAVE BEEN SELECTED FROM MOMENTS OF HIGH DRAMA AND HORROR IN THE WORK OF PETER CUSHING . . . .

THIS WEEK'S GIF GALLERY has been requested by partners and couples who are fans of the work of Peter Cushing and follow our facebook fan page and website!

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: IF CHRISTOPHER LEE IS in the cast of a movie, and he is going to die, you know, you are going to get value for your money! Lee died a thousand deaths in movies, and his death scenes total over 20 or more, ...a fact that wasn't lost on the late Sir Christopher himself...he devoted an entire chapter to the subject in his autobiography, 'Tall, Dark and Gruesome: Lord of Misrule'. I have intend over the years, to actually draw up a list of my favourite top ten Christopher Lee Deaths, but as yet, I can't settle on the titles, as there is SO MUCH to choose from! That wasn't a problem for Fang Girl and Fang Boy who sent us a message this week, and voted, Lee meeting his sticky end in Planet films, 'Night Of The Big Heat' (1966) their all time fav. Death by sucking! Next time you are in your local McDonald's treating yourself to one of their tasty THICK SHAKES, and you can't get the thing started, just call 011-666-SILICATE-SUCK-MY-SHAKE, and one will be around in a jiffy, and will get that sucker up the straw and pumping, in a jiffy!

YOU CAN SEND US YOUR REQUESTS FOR OUR WEEKLY GIF GALLERY BY EITHER MESSAGING US  AT OUR PETER CUSHING FACEBOOK FAN PAGE OR BY EMAILING YOUR REQUEST  BY EMAIL: PETERCUSHINGPCAS@GMAIL.COM

A DREADFUL RECOGNITION : PETER CUSHING as Prof Mayback Von Klaus in the New Avengers episode, 'The Eagle's Nest' (1976). Von Klaus was kidnapped and set to work resurrecting a deceased individual from the world's past. It is here that the identity of who he brought back from the dead, is revealed. A very good story, and perfect for the rebooting of The Avengers television series. That Cushing should be chosen to star in that first episode, is a nice touch. Cushing had played Paul Beresford in the 1967 'Return of the Cybernauts' episode, a popular, stand out story in the series. Mrs and Mr Peel of Doncaster, England (!!) Have asked for anything from the 'Eagle's Nest' episode. I thought, this was a would do the trick!

THE RESURRECTED: DIGGING UP THE DEAD is the stuff of nightmares, and so it is in Hammer films, 'Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell' (1974). The Baron's latest creation, goes on the rampage in the grounds of the asylum, where he is held captive, on escaping into the grounds, he goes in search of some answers, and hopes one of those answers is to be found in the asylum cemetery.

WATCHING THIS film recently with friends, we touched on how the creature is shown in a light of great sympathy in his scenes. Much time is given to the exploring of the impact suffered by the resurrected character, who becomes the Baron's latest project. Dave Prowse has never got recognition for the role he played as the Creature in this film. It's one thing to try and emote pathos for such a pathetic creature, it's another trying to do some with a couple of pounds of latex rubber on your face an body. Many on watching can't get passed the somewhat clumsy arrangement of the make up and costume, and for them, that completely distracts and spoils the film. Personally, I forgave the short coming of the budget and make up years ago, and take much pleasure from the performances of Cushing, Shane Briant, Madeline Smith, Prowse and the assembled 'top draw' cameos, seen by many as the weakest in the series, in my humble, it ranks with the all-time best. Mr Robin and Terry Maggs, hold this opinion too, and requested this shot specifically....Yesterday was the anniversary of the LONDON OPENING of this film, May 2nd 1972, even though the film was made TWO YEARS PREVIOUSLY in 1974! Sadly, it didn't perform well. Do you think the years have been kinder to this film??

#HAMMERFILMSATURDAY: THE FAIREST BRIDE OF THEM ALL : HAMMER DOCUMENTARY

#HAMMERFILMSSATURDAY: FOLOWING the news of the sad passing of Yvonne Monlaur yesterday, I thought it would be a good time to revisit this very good documentary about the making of one of her best, The Brides of Dracula. There are interviews, including Yvonne, lots of stories, behind the scenes, the works. She really was a fine talent and a beautiful woman, with such a gentle attitude. Bless you, Yvonne....

WE WILL BE posting a in-depth feature on Yvonne Monlaur, her life and career, with rare stills gallery this week.

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: A FISTFUL OF GIFS!

A FABULOUS SELECTION OF #FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY GIFS from Peter Cushing SECOND #FRANKENSTEIN film for #Hammerfilms, 'THE REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN'. For me personally, this is the one Hammer/Frankenstein that looks so handsome. Set design and art direction is once again is taken care of by Bernard Robinson, the man who along with Scott MacGregor, made that 'Hammer Look'. Most of the interiors seen in 'Revenge' are recycled props and sets used in Hammer's 1958 'Dracula' / 'Horror of Dracula'. It all has that stamp of quality, and Jack Asher's cinematography frames it all so well. Hammer had a crew of craftsmen, many of whom were never credited, or even graced that credit role during the films closing titles...SO with an eye to just some of the people, who were responsible for that special Hammer style in 'Revenge', that we now enjoy in these GIFS, here are those UNCREDITED technicians :  ART DEPARTMENT: Arthur Banks : Master Plasterer. Charles Davis : Master Carpenter. Eric Hillier : Props Buyer. Mick Lyons : Construction Manager. Don Mingaye : Assistant Art Direction. Tom Money : Property Master. Lawrence Wren : Master Painter. SOUND DEPARTMENT: Alex Carver-Hill: Assistant Boom Operator. Alfred Cox : Sound Editor. Jim Perry : Boom Operator. CAMERA and ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: Albert Cowlar : Camera Grip. Jack Curtis : Chief Electrician. Tom Edwards : Still Photographer. Harry Oakes : Focus Puller. Anthony Powell : Clapper Loader.

Thank YOU!

"Come unto Me and rest; Lay down, thou weary one, lay down, Thy head upon My breast."! Here's one of the good doctor's more needy clients, who manages to get his attention with a false 'pitter-patter' of her 'be still my beating heart'! ..is that enough quotes for ya?? Peter Cushing and actress Anna Walmsley as Vera Barscynska in a gif requested by Moonloo (??) from 'The Revenge of Frankenstein' a classic from Hammer films...

#MONSTERMONDAY: VAMPIRE GIRLS AND BOARD GAMES

#MONSTERMONDAY:ANOTHER WEEK, another Monday, another #MONSTERMONDAY! We've noticed that FEMALE vampires appear to be very popular with visitors to this website. So, this week, we have plumbed for the beautiful CAROL MARSH and her portrayal of LUCY HOLMWOOD in Hammer films, 'DRACULA ' (1958) such a subtle, wicked performance. Over at the FACEBOOK FAN PAGE, we are asking . . .  is she a MONSTER or is she a VICTIM??..Or BOTH?

#MONSTERMONDAY: With a wink to todays last, 'Cushing Factoid' and Cushing's love of board games, I wonder what he would have made of this?? The 'Forbidden Terrortory' interactive board game from Britannia Games (2006) seems a lot of fun. Looking around the net, this product seems to have been repackaged and picked up by several other companies over the years. The MONSTER figures look interesting, as does the Peter Cushing Van Helsing one! Every comment I have read from the 'harder core' Hammer fan, has been a bit sniffy about the game..But, I have one down on my Christmas Wish List! Looks fun. ..Anyone already own one???

FORBIDDEN TERRORTORY : Players try and rescue a Victim whilst trying to destroy Dracula before he gets uber strong. Players need to collect protection to avoid the ghouls dotted around the Count's lair. Players get five days to complete this task. But beware one bite from a vampire makes you a vampire too!

GAME BITS:
3 Decks of cards all showing clips of the famous Hammer Films
12 Hand painted replica figurines of the classic Hammer Monsters
1 Game Board
3 Special Dice
1 DVD Over an hour of Sound and Movie clips that interacts with the game.

#MONSTERMONDAY: Before we roll out this week's MONSTER or VICTIM dilemma...Vampires from the films of Peter Cushing here are a few and one extra from Kiss Of The Vampire ... who gets YOUR vote as the one with the most 'YIKES' appeal??
