#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY : PIZZA SAUSAGE MEAT AND PIECES EFFRONTES FEMININE!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: BEHIND YOOOOU!! Next time you happen to be tucking into your Barbacoa Romana nice and cripsy crust at Whitstable's Pizza Express, take a look at the wall behind you...!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: WHEN MICHAEL GWYNN (above) in Hammer films, 'The Revenge of Frankenstein' (1958) played the disfigured Karl, most of the character's frightening characteristics, the twisting and contorting features, the crooked legs and stance, by contorting his own body. Even though in the original make up tests carried out by Phil Leakey, then plan was for him to have a disfigured nose, a rough wig and .....a right cheek, of what looked like raw sausage meat! After Christopher Lee's appearance in 'The Curse of Frankenstein' which, in Lee's own words, 'looked like a car crash'...with everything bar the kitchen sink thrown in, Gwynn's no nonsense scare scowl was a refreshing and convincing change.

AND ON THE SUBJECT of The Revenge of Frankenstein make up, on the left, Peter Cushing in a make up continuity reference photograph, revealing the bruises, cuts and breakages from the Baron's mega duffing from the hospital patients...now, there's gratitude for you! While on the right, even though Eunice Grayson doesn't perhaps receive the same acknowledgement and exposure, as other Hammer Frankenstein actresses, in this rare early publicity. . .  she's not too shy of exposing, some of her 'pieces effrontes feminines'! That surely would have got Frankenstein in a flap!

#TBT SEVEN MYSTERY CUSHING ACTRESSES AND AN ACTOR IN GOGGLES?

#TBT There are SEVERAL young actresses in these two rare photographs, and all but one of them have appeared in films starring Peter Cushing, can you name these actresses? ALSO who is that actor, in the wet suit and googles??? ANSWERS later....

ALSO MAYBE YOU MISSED the announcement of WEDNESDAY'S now being a REQUEST-A-GIF DAY at our FACEBOOK FAN PAGE ACCOUNT  and here at the website. Well here is the first of our #GIMMETHEGIF requests, this one for our friend Catherine Anne…..'Dracula / Horror Of Dracula' (1958) Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) leaps and runs down the table, to pull down the curtains and expose the sunlight of DEATH! EXCELLENT choice, Catherine!

#TBT WAXING ON LOVE AND LOSS IN 1970

#‎TBT‬ ON REFLECTION it's a miracle that Peter Cushing appeared in 'The House That Dripped Blood' at all! Shooting began at Shepperton studio in the Summer of 1970. At the time, Peter's late wife Helen, was very ill and unusual for Cushing he asked to be released from his contract or if consideration could be given to the amount of time he would spend on set. The producers would not agree to this, so Cushing had to leave the shoot each day and speed back to his home in Whitstable, and then return early the following morning, bright and fresh ready to work.

DESPITE THESE PRESSURES, Cushing performance as actor Philip Grayson, is a interesting one. Playing a peg in a love triangle, with a wax figure...some of the shots in the film of Cushing walking lonely along river banks and streets, you can't help wondering what was really on his mind, as these were some of the last days he would spend with Helen... at her bedside or not.... #throwbackthursday

COME LOOK AND BE TEASED : THE PROFESSOR : A HOMAGE TO PETER CUSHING

ONCE IN A WHILE someone comes up with a very good concept in the comic world. And 'THE PROFESSOR' falls very snugly into that category. Just a few days ago, I was contacted by an associate who thought 'THE PROFESSOR' would be of interest to us all. I must be honest, during the course of a few months, it is not unusual for us to receive several emails or posts about 'Cushing-connected or themed' projects. But, from the go this one got my interest.

I HAVE TO BE HONEST and admit, I am not a collector of comics and I can't remember the last time, I actual read a comic of any kind!  But this is one I really want to read. I have included several of the 'TEASERS' here for your enjoyment.... and they DO manage to perform their function very well..Just a glance at any one, will I am sure, get you to view the next. The question hangs over each one, 'Wow, what does that mean? OR 'What happened next?'

NOW OF COURSE we are primed to a certain extent here, we are lovers of Cushing's work and the roles he played, so the artwork panels and teasers, are very more-ish and have our interest. BUT look at that art work, interesting isn't it? And again, each image leaves us with a ....what does all this mean? We are not being let in on the secret, WE have to wait too......!

'THE PROFESSOR' is the beautiful creation of Italian writer, ANDREA CORBETTA and all the people you see below... Corbetta calls it 'An homage to Peter Cushing'. The first issue of 'THE PROFESSOR' arrives in SEPTEMBER 2016. So, not that long to wait. And rest assured, we WILL be waiting !

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: CHRISTOPHER LEE'S JINNAH BIO PIC GETS AN OFFICIAL RELEASE

IT'S OFFICIAL!  BREAKING NEWS: Today it was announced by Eureka Entrainment that JINNAH (1998) will released on 10 October 2016. Staring Christopher Lee (in what he considered his best non-fantasy role) as Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the man who founded the Muslim nation of Pakistan in the wake of Great Britain’s relinquishment of control over India.

"This is the most important and most personal film of Sir Christopher’s impressive career. It is also his finest performance as little-known world leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, who assumed office in 1947. The film was made over a period of ten weeks in 1997 and for one reason or another has never been shown in the English-speaking world."Douglas Dunning, close friend of Christopher Lee.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MADELINE SMITH HAMMER FILMS SCREAM QUEEN AND MUCH MORE!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: PLEASE JOIN US IN WISHING MADELEINE SMITH a Very Happy Birthday today! She best known for her roles in three films for Hammer, Taste The Blood of Dracula (1970), The Vampire Lovers (1970) and Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (1974).

FEATURED IN OUR BANNER is what is probably one of her best performances as Sarah (The Angel) in Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell co-starring Peter Cushing, and Shane Briant. Mind you, she was pretty good in the UK tv series, The Steam Video Company in the early 1980’s. She has a very good sense of humour and timing too!
