#VINCENTPRICE TALKS THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE AND HINT OF THE 107TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION TO COME!

A LITTLE TREAT for SUNDAY over at FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE! It's a little seen interview with #VINCENTPRICE speaking about his latest role as 'the voice' of prime villain Professor Ratigan in the Disney cartoon 'Basil The Great Mouse Detective'. This interview was broadcast in 1986 by the UK ITV children's programme 'Splash'. You can see it . .

HERE ARE THREE interesting and rare publicity photographs, that could give you a CLUE as to what I have in line for a #PCASUK #Competition to mark the 107th celebration of Peter Cushing's Birthday this month! I think we are going to have us some fun

TODAY I'VE ALSO PLANTED this very rare and interesting publicity photograph of Peter Cushing at the Fan Page. IF you can recognise the character Cushing is playing here and name the film in which it appeared, you have a CLUE to an element that will be part of a COMPETITION I'll be launching during the PCASUK celebration of 107th  anniversary of Peter Cushing's birthday this month! I think we are going to be having some fun that day! Please stay SAFE and look after yourselves 😊😉 - Marcus

Peter Cushing of course, was a regular guest, with the long running gag, of his not being paid for his first show appearance, running for over twenty years .... until he did get his lolly, in 1980! Do YOU have a favourite Cushing Eric and Ernie show? PLEASE come JOIN US at the FACEBOOK PETER CUSHING APPRECIATION SOCIETY UK FAN PAGE: CLICK HERE!

#HAPPYFATHERSDAY: FATHERS PASSED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!

#HAPPYFATHERSDAY! It's the day for Dad's whoever you are, wherever you are all over the world. Father's here, Father's passed. Father's who can celebrate with their children today, and Father's, for whatever reason can not. My Dad is 4,000 miles away today, but only seconds away when I picked up that phone. He is, all I could ever ask for in a Father and friend . . .hey and without him, I never would have seen Dr Who and the Daleks in the cinema way back then!

Christina Lee with Father Christopher and Mother, Birgit.

Victoria with Father Vincent and pet Pug, Puffle!
CUSHING'S FATHER George, was a rock. Though he was closer to his Mother, Nellie, his Dad was always there for him, when he needed him. Cushing joked that his Father paid for his air ticker to the USA back in 1939, but he bought a ONE WAY ticket!!! Victoria Price has shared her memories of her Dad Vincent in an amazing book. And today she still travels the world, sharing stories and celebrating her father. Christina Lee I am sure, is still really missing her Father, Christopher. You only have to see the pics of her and her Dad to know, they were very close. With both Christina and Victoria, you can see many mannerisms that hint at their Dad's.... Happy Father's Day!

The Cushing Family: Peter at the top, his Father George, Mother Nellie and his Brother, David.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VINCENT PRICE AND CHRISTOPHER LEE!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VINCENT PRICE AND CHRISTOPHER LEE! You couldn't fail to notice yesterday, it was the anniversary of Peter Cushing's birthday yesterday? And today, as if that was enough excitement... we also celebrate another TWO great titans of cinema, Christopher Lee and Vincent Price! This is always a special treat we look forward to every year, when we have a TRIPLE opportunity, to indulge and enjoy, and binge on our favorite fantasy films...and everything that goes with that! Are you planning a Christopher lee and Vincent Price FILM BINGE this weekend?? If so, share your idea of the perfect playlist, I am sure many here would appreciate the suggestions, to make their BINGE go with a BANG!

WHERE MANY TODAY ACROSS the net are marking their birthdays in posts individually, we take the opportunity, where we can, to post items, that feature all three Price, Lee and Cushing together. TODAY we have a great example of that! Later we'll be posting a NEW clip from the Cushing and Lee, 'The Last Meeting' archive footage. Where back in 1994, Christopher Lee regales Cushing with an anecdote about Vincent Price!!  'The Last Meeting' archive is, raw video footage of the last time Cushing and Lee met before Peter Cushing passed away in August 1994. The occasion was the recording of a narration script, for the documentary 'Flesh and Blood'. During their time at the studio in Canterbury, England, a camera recorded their candid conversation, their jokes, chat, reminiscing and much more besides. As you can imagine, it makes for quite emotional viewing.

Over the past three years, we have uploaded and shared many clips and extracts from that hour long recording, all of which can be seen at our PCAS YOUTUBE CHANNEL, at this website and our PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE. So, do drop in during the day, to catch our NEW and never before seen clip and the final part of our 'The Making of the House of Long Shadows' feature...the only feature films where, Cushing, Price and Lee starred together in a feature film! help us to remember and celebrate the lives and work of Vincent Price and Christopher Lee on their SPECIAL DAY!

BTW: The Birthday Banner rare pic of #vincentprice and #christopherlee together in 1977 is a bit of a mystery to me... anyone have any idea where this was taken, I'd be grateful if you could let me know? Marcus. There is no Lee Fan Club at the moment, but I would recommend you seek out christopherleefan's sites https://www.youtube.com/user/ChristopherLeeFan. Vincent Price has an excellent facebook page, which is managed and maintained by his family. Seek em out here: https://www.facebook.com/MasterofMenace/

ROGUE WARS: TALKING TARKIN: MORE CASTING SUGGESTIONS

Two more suggestions from friends and followers of our Peter Cushing Appreciation Society Facebook Fan Page

GUY HENRY: An English stage and screen actor, with roles in Rome and John Adams. He appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Part 2 and, more recently, the hospital drama Holby City as the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Henrik Hanssen. In 1987, Henry appeared in the episode 'Rumpole and the Official Secret' from Season 4 of Rumpole of the Bailey.

In the early 1990s, he played the acerbic, demonic Dr Walpurgis in The Vault of Horror, a BBC Halloween special. His make-up was provided by Hellraiser veteran Geoff Portass. Guy also introduced a few series of cult horror films in several BBC One Friday night horror seasons (with a name change to 'Dr. Terror'), with scripted introductions written by horror novelist and film historian Kim Newman. He appeared in the 1996 schools series Look and Read: Spywatch, the BBC's 1996 adaptation of Emma.

In 1998 he made one appearance in the medical soap opera Peak Practice and in two episodes of The Grand. His film credits include appearances in Another Country with Rupert Everett, later in Stephen Fry's 2003 film Bright Young Things (appearing in the poster for it, top left) as Archie, in V for Vendetta as Conrad Heyer, in Starter for 10 as a university professor, in Expresso and as Pius Thicknesse in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Part 2. In 2014 he appeared in the critically acclaimed short film Done In.

Paul Benjamin "Ben" Mendelsohn (born 3 April 1969): An Australian actor, known for his work in the films Animal Kingdom, The Dark Knight Rises, Killing Them Softly, The Place Beyond the Pines, Starred Up, Exodus: Gods and Kings, and Lost River. Mendelsohn currently stars in the Netflix series Bloodline, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe nomination.

After several early television roles, including The Henderson Kids, he attracted notice in his breakout film, The Year My Voice Broke (1987), winning him the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Supporting Actor. His next major role was in The Big Steal (1990), and Spotswood (1992) co-starring with Anthony Hopkins; this was followed in 1996 by Cosi and Idiot Box. In 2000 he was in two contrasting films, the Australian Mullet and the Hollywood Vertical Limit. In 2005, he was preparing to play Mark Antony in the Sydney Theatre Company-produced Julius Caesar, and he was in the Terrence Malick-directed film The New World

In 2007, Mendelsohn starred in the third season of the TV series Love My Way and in 2008, he appeared in Baz Luhrmann's Australia and filmed the 10-part Melbourne series Tangle, which premiered on Showcase in 2009. In 2009, he appeared in the American science fiction film Knowing directed by Alex Proyas. The same year, Mendelsohn starred as Ned in Beautiful Kate, directed by Rachel Ward, opposite Bryan Brown and Rachel Griffiths.

In 2010, he appeared in Animal Kingdom, starring in the film as Andrew 'Pope' Cody, a criminal on the run from the law living in the notorious Melbourne Underworld. This role won him many awards including IF Award's Best Actor and the AFI's award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. He was also named GQ Australia's Actor of the Year for 2010.

He was selected as one of the entrants to the Who's Who in Australia 2012 edition. In 2012, Mendelsohn played the supporting role of John Daggett in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

In 2012, he appeared in Florence + the Machine's music video for "Lover to Lover". The video was directed by Vincent Haycock. In 2013, he guest starred in the TV series Girls as the father of Jessa, played by Jemima Kirke. In 2014, Mendelsohn joined the cast of Bloodline, a Netflix original from the creators of Damages. The first season premiered on the site on 20 March 2015 and was well received. Mendelsohn's performance on the series has been critically lauded, with IGN reviewer Matt Fowler saying in his review of the first season "Everyone on the show shines...but it's Mendelsohn's lanky, damaged, bitter Danny Rayburn that truly drives the show into harrowing places. Spectacular work that I hope gets recognized come awards season."

A NEW YEARS EVE SNAP SHOT OF 2015 WITH THE PETER CUSHING APPRECIATION SOCIETY

Well, 2015 has been quite an exciting year, but not without it's ups and downs. It's been a year of meeting more friends, more than any other during our time on facebook. We've had more competitions this year, I haven't counted how many blu rays and dvd's and prizes we've given away this year, but skipping through the banners, I can see many have had a parcel of goodies through their letter box this year. It's been a year of making friends and links with Warner Brothers, Eureka, Screen Bound, Twilight Time and many others, all who have been extremely generous to us with sponsorship of our competitions, and I would like again to thank them for their friendship and generosity.

FOR PILGRIM'S HOSPICE CHARITY: HERE

Cushing's Tales from the Crypt 'Grimsdyke', look-a-likey popping up in 'The Walking Dead', Talk of Cushing re-appearing as Tarkin in Star Wars: Rogue One. It's surprising how often Cushing still pops up in the news. And the releases of a truck load of remastered blu rays of some of Cushing's best work, has kept our news posts very busy. November brought us the release of Donald Fearney's 'Milton Subotsky's and Max J. Rosenberg's AMICUS VAULT OF HORRORS' mammoth documentary. A labour of love and what has to be the definitive history of Amicus films. Cushing's over coat and cardigan, auctioned on ebay to provide some much needed funds for the Canterbury Pilgrim's Hospice, has brought the year to a satisfying end.

For many Peter Cushing, is more than an actor, celebrity and gentleman.. he kept many hearts a flutter, and not just through fear in his fantasy films.. he was a heart throb..and never more so than during the 1950's, when he was hardly off the tv screen... what has been one of the very interesting things about this year, has been watching our female following stats growing every week, and a regular flow of comments from followers, expressing the kind of platitudes reserved usually, for the likes of actors like Benedict Cumberbatch and his like... so for you, here's our New Year's Eve Peter Cushing tribute video... Peter would have been thrilled that even up to the end and..after, he could still make hearts skip a beat, in more ways than one!

A VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER ROMANTIC TRIBUTE TO PETER CUSHING
EDITED BY SRHFTW AND SUNG BY GIRL IN A COMA
We have also sadly lost quite a few friends and associates of Peter's this year, many have left a sad space, never to be filled ...and none more greater than Sir Christopher Lee. We all knew one day it would happen, but it was, I am sure for all, a great shock when it happened. He, like Peter will always be missed and remembered, and we will continue to keep his memory alive too.

THE ONLY WAY IT COULD BE DONE! CHRISTOPHER LEE TRIBUTE VIDEO POSTED AT PCAS ON THE DAY HIS PASSING WAS ANNOUNCED
.... HIS WAY!

So, we look to the next 365 and what it will bring. We have a few surprises up our sleeve, I'll endeavour to keep the posts coming. Your support as ever is greatly appreciated. It's YOUR page and the website too. It's been a year that would not have been any fun, if you'd not all been around to help share it!
