DID YOU MISS THIS? NO PANIC THERE IS STILL TIME!

HAVE YOU MISSED THIS? It's still LIVE but time is ticking 😮 Here is director Joe Dante short review of the film 'The Flesh and the Fiends' which gives a little idea of really, how great this movie is! The trailer played in this clip is the US trailer, where the film was christened with the 'subtle' title of, 'The Fiendish Ghouls'. Hmm nice. It arrived on it's first outing as 'Mania', following the trend of 'one-word-titles' craze since the success of Hitchcock's 'Psycho'! As Dante says 'The film is greater than it's title, it's a pretty good movie and deserves better. One of the virtues of British horror movies at this time is, they are played as if they were Shakespeare. There's no winking or nodding or campy quality. The actors in this picture take everything seriously....' CLICK HERE! and enter! Good luck everyone 😁 Take care and look after one another 😉- Marcus

'HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO SURPRISE THE PUBLIC WITH SOMETHING THEY DON'T EXPECT!'

#WATCHWITHCUSHING! SURPRISE! It has been often said that, typecasting hung around Christopher Lee for quite some time, maybe until later in his career when, he believed there was a little more flexibility. Personally, I always thought the majority of his roles, were often quite different, the genre may have been somewhere in a shared ball park, but I wouldn't say his role as the evil Edward Blake in 'I Monster' was the same as say, Francisco Scaramanga in 'The Man with the Golden Gun' or even the role of 'The Monster' in 'The Curse of Frankenstein' was in any close to Kharis in 'The Mummy' . . In this interview, he makes his point in discussing how he always tried to surprise his audience.. which I think, he in most cases certainly did. Over at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE HERE I have asked everyone if there is a role they can remember, where Christopher Lee played this card very well.. and surprised you?? And there are some surprising answers 😏😊

A ROLE THAT ALWAYS seemed quite different to me was Christopher Lee's role in his own production of the film, 'NOTHING BUT THE NIGHT' with Peter Cushing. His playing of Colonel Bingham almost seems like an extension of his character in the 1970, 'SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN'? you can still catch one of these films in our PCASUK #WATCHPARTY post at the  FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE! RIGHT HERE!

PCASUK WATCH PARTY TIGON CUSHING CLASSIC NOW LIVE!

#WATCHWITHCUSHING! 'The Blood Beast Terror' (1968) NOW LIVE at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FANPAGE WATCH PARTY! This is a film that for a long time had the sad reputation of being known as '#PeterCushing's least favourite film'! A rep that was probably misunderstood, as time has gone on to inform us, it was Cushing's 'on set' experience that scored the 'no brownie points'. Like with a lot of tight budget movies from this time, today we watch them with an 'understanding' maybe. Yup the effects could be better, but I've seen much worse in films that were produced with monster budgets, and no excuse! No one looks good in a costume that is supposed to represent a 'real creature' that is actually an inch to two inches in size, and every director should have a note to themselves that reminds them, 'save some money for the big finish' 😉Director, Vernon Sewell sadly did not

BUT HE DID invest in a good cast, Robert Flemyng, replacing an ill #BasilRathbone gives a great turn, Wanda Ventham is quite convincing and committed, but I bet you she drew the line about wearing that costume, and Peter Cushing as ever, gives good value with a cracking performance, relaxed, charming and with some nice 'business' as Inspector Quennell. There's a nod to #Frankenstein and body-snatches '#BukeandHare' and the late Roy Hudd gets to make his first movie, with some well timed black humour as the morgue attendant showing a knack that even both #DonaldPleasence's Dr Seward in 'Dracula' and Cushing's Catflangue, in Legend of the Werewolf, would have been proud of!

JUST WHO IS BEHIND THAT EAGLE COMIC?

I LOVE this figure of Peter Cushing as Dr Who from his first Dalek movie in 1965, 'Dr Who and the Daleks' 🙂 It's playful and I think captures the intention of Cushing and the film producer Milton Subotsky all those years ago. This is the fabulous work of sculpture Robert Price, who we have featured here before. These photo's don't belong to me, neither does the figure, as much as I wish it did, it's one of Robert's many private commissions.

ROBERT SAYS AT HIS TUMBLR ACCOUNT, 'A great challenge to make and certainly one of the more intricate and fiddly pieces I’ve ever made. Never made a comfy chair before!t was very interesting working with different media- if you count paper as a different media. The Eagle comic came together beautifully. Many frustrations and dark-nights of the soul- fretting it would never be finished or good enough when it was complete. I’m very happy with it now and will be sad to let it go!'

WELL, YOU ARE A VERY TALENTED ARTIST and very well done, Robert! I certainly look forward to see and sharing more of your work in the future here! MORE please 😉😊 - Marcus

THE TWILIGHT TIME SPECIAL EDITION release of the remastered blu ray of Hammer films 1960 'Sword of Sherwood Forest; is a pretty neat package and a great addition to anyone's Hammer or Peter Cushing collection. Twilight has done grand job on the remastering, and Cushing looks every bit the villain of the piece, as the Sheriff of Nottingham, very sharp images and good enough to eat in glorious Eastman colour. It's a great job, on a not so well known Hammer film, that makes you wish the studio, director Terence Fisher and Peter Cushing had produced more adventures, with this same cast.

CHRISTOPHER LEE IS MR BLAKE AND PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE REOPENS!

INDEED, MR BLAKE and very nasty with it! Amicus films, I MONSTER was a big disappointment, for just about everyone all round...including Christopher Lee and Director Stephen Weeks... they BOTH did their very best! The story of producer Subotsky's drive, for the film to be shoot in a weird and hopeless cheapo version of 3D failed...Weeks did shoot a little to keep the producer happy, but soon carried on production, dropping the useless 3D idea. What you get is a very good film, it's pace is slow...but spot on. Christopher Lee makes a very good Mr Blake and Dr Marlowe. YUP, IT IS Jekyll and Hyde.

PETER CUSHING does as expected , as Utterson Mr Marlow's friend. The sets look very good, on set work was shot at Shepperton on what was left of the musical OLIVER. But when it was released, it didn't do very well..in the UK. Europe MUCH better though! It would be very nice if this film one day did get a remaster and blu ray release. Extras including an opportunity for director Stephen Weeks to at last finally tell HIS story, on the making of something that could have been so much better, and his time with Cushing and Lee. Here also are some stills taken behind the scenes, rare pics of all three Cushing, Lee and Weeks obviously working well together on the set . .

LET US KNOW YOUR OPINION of this film. All the interesting emails of your comments will be added to THIS FEATURE! OUR EMAIL is  as usual petercushingpcas@gmail.com

ALSO ON SATURDAY The Peter Cushing Appreciation Society Facebook Fan Page REOPENED after an absence of six weeks from our Fan Page. There was no big announcement , no fanfare or fuss. Issues that were causing problems with the page, that has over THIRTY THREE THOUSAND followers, have now been fixed and sorted, along with a change in the style of posting. Had it not been for a over a month of emails and messages to this website and my personal facebook account, the page might never have reopen. Just a visit to the page and the mass of Messages and Comments from very pleased members of the page, truly displays not only a HUGE love and affection still for Peter Cushing and his work, but also for the work and role of our PCAS facebook fan page...

PCASUK FACEBOOK REOPENED AND LIVE, BUT NOW MINUS OVER SEVEN YEARS OF ARCHIVED RARE PHOTOGRAPHS AND POSTS . .

WITH FACEBOOK having issues and losses over the last year, some of the rules and opportunities that made the PCAS FACEBOOK such a success, have changed in the past six months, making the chance of seeing our non profit, unfunded or facebook boosted posts, very difficult even if you were a member. The opportunities taken by some other facebook pages, reposted our rare images, and removed the guide watermark from the still. Several rare hi res images were also copied and sold on ebay. For us this was the final straw, we give away stills and images, on which many we own copyright, with the understanding the watermark is there, to tell anyone who sees the photograph' were they can find us and join..it photographs are not posted for anyone's financial,  it's for helping keep the page and memory of Peter Cushing alive! ALL these issues have now been resolved. Sadly, over seven years of posts and their photographic content have now been deleted and removed from the reopened facebook page. It's a sad cost, for the people who have supported the page since it's launch, and a smack in the wallet from those who have no care for the memory of Peter Cushing. The PCAS Facebook Fan Page is now live . . . .
