BORN TODAY November 8th 1847 in Clontarf, Dublin, Republic of Ireland… BRAM STOKER, creator of Dracula and a hundred thousand nightmares! Happy Birthday, Mr Stoker! . . I guess it would never have crossed his mind that his creation, would in the future, die SO MANY DEATHS!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: WHAT THE BEST DRESSED VAMPIRE HUNTERS ARE WEARING!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: What at first looks like a pretty cool behind scenes photograph of David Peel, Yvonne Monlaur and Peter Cushing on the set of #hammerfilms 'The Brides of Dracula'...on closer inspection reveals it's a very cool shot of them rehearsing, and Cushing is wearing a comfy personal woolly sweater!! He is wearing his Van Helsing costume, under the sweater!

TRIVIA: The Hammer films, BRAY STUDIOS lot was a notoriously cold unheated place to work. The manor house of Down Place, where most of the interiors for #THECURSEOFFRANKENSTEIN and #DRACULA #HORROROFDRACULA were shot, were very cold in the winter months, the outer lot buildings were unheated too. When Christopher Lee as Dracula stands talking to Harker in the guest room, his breath can be clearly seen! When Lee played the Creature in 'Curse of Frankenstein' his bandages, post the huge water tank, were soaked with warm water, which cooled to freezing water within minutes, and gulps of brandy were consumed to stop him catching hypothermia!

BRIAN CLEMENS DIES 1913 - 2015

We are very sad indeed to hear that Brian Clemens passed away this weekend. Clemens was a very prolific and talented film and television producer and screenwriter. Responsible for the tv cult series 'The Avengers' and 'The New Avengers'. Both Hammer films, 'Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde' and 'Captain Kronos'. He also wrote one of the Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense' episodes in 1984, 'Mark of the Devil'.

Our Peter Cushing connection is of course the two 'Avengers' episodes that PC appeared in, only one of them did Clemens write, 'The Eagle's Nest' in 1978. This was the first episode of the Avengers revival series, 'The New Avengers'. Clemens had a style that was very much his own, mysterious, quirky and most of all quite original and fun!
