TERRY O'NEILL : MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER OF ICONS SADLY DIES AGED 81

TERRY O'NEILL , the photographer who chronicled London’s 1960s culture by capturing the celebrities and public figures who defined the era, has died aged 81.

O'NEILL, who was awarded a CBE last month for services to photography and was known for his work with the likes of #FrankSinatra, #DavidBowie and Elizabeth Taylor and #EltonJohn died at home on Saturday night after a long illness, his agency said. He had prostate cancer.

MANY #PeterCushing #ChristopherLee, #VincentPrice and #JohnCarradine Fans, will know Terry's work from the outstanding promotional photograph he created of all four movie icons for the 1983 film, 'House of the Long Shadows'. The film brought all four actors together for the first time, but it was O'Neill who captured it in an amazing photograph!

IT IS WITH a heavy heart that Iconic Images announces the passing of Terence ‘Terry’ O’Neill, CBE,” a spokeswoman for the agency said. “As one of the most iconic photographers of the last 60 years, his legendary pictures will for ever remain imprinted in our memories, as well as in our hearts and minds

THE BRAVE AND GENTLE SOUL OF PETER CUSHING PICS AND COMPETITION

THE 1972 AMICUS FILM, 'Asylum' which is featured in our Second Sight Films / PCAS competition this week, was a film that contains quite a sad and poignant role for Peter Cushing, both his character and Cushing in his own life, were dealing with the grief of losing a loved one. After the release of Asylum in the UK, the connection of the role and Cushing own loss, prompted quite a few interviews and features in magazines and newspapers. A few weeks ago, we posted the quite well known photo of Peter sitting at a dresser in his home in Whitstable, with framed photographs of Helen at his side. On posting this pic, I received quite a few messages from many of you out there who were very moved to see Peter looking so remorseful. So, I looked into our files and to find this 'other' photograph from this photo session and post the two here today 😀 The loss of Helen was something from which Peter Cushing never truly recovered, but being the gentleman and brave soul he was, he always managed to push on, to another day ... I hope you like the insert photo - Marcus ðŸ˜‰

ABOVE: YOU CAN bag your chance to win a copy of the LIMITED EDITION BLU RAY SECOND SIGHT FILMS  release of  'ASYLUM' in our PCASUK COMPETITION  right now at our FACEBOOK PCAS FAN PAGE! The competition is open until SATURDAY 29th of June 2019, so there's still time to take the opportunity now!

THE PETER CUSHING HAND PAINTED SILK SCARF FOR OLIVIERS 1948 HAMLET PREMIER

THE PETER CUSHING HAND PAINTED SILK SCARF . .designed by Peter for the movie premier of Olivier's Hamlet in 1948. As we all know, Peter impressively played Osric in the film, but showed an extra talent, as a designer and artist! So impressive was the scarf design, that BLOND Bros of London, renowned makers of ladies and gentlemen's scarves, placed orders and sold it in twelve different colours! Even the Queen had her own, Peter Cushing designed scarf!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: TIME WARP VAMPIRE SHOES : AND TWO DRACULA ACTRESSES THAT ARE NOT LINDA HAYDEN

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: ANSWER? Very cool and a bit of a trend setter too... Note her PALE BLUE STILETTO HEEL SHOES... they were not invented until the early 1940's.... This scene in Hammer films Dracula starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, took place in 1885, putting her at least 55 years ahead of popular fashion, un-dead she maybe, dumb she isn't !!

#‎toocooltuesday‬ : PETER CUSHING, an actor who for the latter third of his career did get trapped in a kind of type-casting, of horror fantasy roles, and even though he didn't watch horror films, had a good sense of humour about it all... that's too-cool!

#‎TOOCOOLTUESDAY‬ : HERE'S A VERY COOL REPOST, that also turned out to be one of our most popular series of posts on our website. It it tells the tale of Christopher Lee having a right ol bat flap in a series of contact sheet photographs from a photo session with a Daily Mirror newspaper photographer in 1972...This feature you can find at the website HERE!

NOT ALONG AFTER we posted the Dracula Daily Mirror Pictures . . . We started getting enquiries about a colour photograph we posted in the feature. A mysterious photograph that was also turning up at signing sessions, and being signed by LINDA HAYDEN. The problem was..it WASN'T Linda Hayden in the photograph with Christopher Lee.. but someone with a Space 1999 / glamour model connection . . the mystery was solved! You can read all about it with full gallery HERE

AS THE PUZZLE OF THE ' NOT LINDA HAYDEN' photograph was solved, we decided to get to the bottom of another mysterious face in Dracula AD 1972, the DANCER ON THE PIANO.. who again, some were saying...also could be the girl in the pic with Lee! This one, wasn't going away.. but after MORE digging and a telephone chat with the lady in question.. we managed to solve this one too! Find out just who THAT girl is RIGHT HERE

TOM EDWARDS EYE ON THE FRANKENSTEIN SET

#frankensteinfriday : THIS LESSER SEEN PUBLICITY STILL from Hammer films, The Revenge of Frankenstein is one that has been rarely published, and yet for me it's one of the best stills from the whole Frankenstein / Hammer/Cushing series... stills photographer, Tom Edwards who worked for Hammer quite extensively from 1956 until 1966 and on most of Cushing features with the company at that time, is the eye behind this photograph! There's some fine skill and composition in this guillotine shot with Cushing. A shot like this, would have been passed over in the press office when selecting their press packs to sell the movies... but Cushing's expression and the subtle drama in this shot, certainly works for me.

Another Revenge of Frankenstein still from Tom Edwards. Again
his framing technique serves the subject very well.
