#GETTHECUSHIONSUNDAY!: THE FELINE CANINE PRIMATE FEATHERED SCENE STEALERS!

#PETERCUSHINGWITHCATS!: So quick riff through the gray matter for Cushing-Cat connections, the obvious 'The Uncanny' from 1977 where the whole film was about cats, 'Silent Scream' the Hammer film tv series from the 1980's, with Peter playing the shop keeper of a 'pet shop' with rather large felines in the basement... You know your Cushing films? Maybe you can think of shots in films, where Cushing appeared with a cat too???

STICKY END for Peter Cushing's Wilbur Gray in 'The Uncanny' (1977)

#PETERCUSHINGWITHDOGS! ARTHUR GRIMSDYKE'S, little pooch, Jamie plays his scenes well, and manages to pull on the heart strings, to say nothing of the pack he has rescued. Like Arthur, PC was very fond of dogs, and though there was a canine in his parents home for much of his childhood, neither Cushing's late wife, Helen or he, craved the company of any house hold pets, in their home. He often said that the seabirds and wild-life outside of his kitchen window, gave him and Helen much pleasure . . . .

THE GENTLE BBC INTERVIEW FROM 1971, 'SOUNDS NATURAL'. A PETER CUSHING YOU MAY NOT HAVE HEARD BEFORE!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: REQUESTED BLAZING EXIT GIFS!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: REQUESTED BY Pamela Sanchez, Redlands, CA. USA. 'Hi, Can I make a request for not one but a few GIFS from the end of Peter Cushing first Frankenstein movie? I ask for GIFS and not a clip, because I want to put one of the GIFS on my cell phone!!! The scene is the one where Christopher Lee is on fire? I remember watching this on a late night show with my Mom. I was a young teen at the time. I had never seen this movie before, but my Mom had with my Dad, when they were dating, back in the day. She wanted so much for me to see it. They were quite the horror fans, going to drive in's to catch the latest when they came round. It made quite an impression on me and needless to say, I have loved all the Hammer horrors, ever since!' Thank you. Pamela'. Happy to oblige, Pamela. Below, the flaming final moments of Hammer films, 'The Curse of Frankenstein' (1957) with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee . . .

IT'S NOT JUST THE EYES THAT FOLLOW YOU AROUND THE ROOM!

WITH THE EXCEPTION of dear old Arthur Grimsdyke in 'Tales from the Crypt' Peter Cushing never did get to play a physical grotesque. Amazing when you consider that wonderful facial bone structure. A make up artist's dream! If ever you find yourself at The Prater in Vienna, and your heart can take it, you must go and seek out this animated digital 'painting' of Peter Cushing's likeness for yourself! Spooky? What do you think?

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY AND #FRIDAYNIGHTDILEMMA

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: WE KICKED OFF this week's / morning's #FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY with this fine photograph of Peter Cushing taking a moment to reflect, on the set of 'Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell' (in production at Elstree studios from 18th September until 13th November 1973) I LOVE this photograph. I LOVE the film too. Maybe the lease popular of the Cushing / Hammer / Frankenstein series, with fans. Looking over the stats for this film when posted here on this page too, the performance is a little lack-luster too! I can never figure out why this film gets such a poor reception? Surely the WIG can't be that a huge problem it affects, the enjoyment of the film that badly? Maybe...someone can tell me why???

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: The Evil of Frankenstein (1963) was Peter Cushing's only Frankenstein movie for Hammer films, that wasn't directed by Terence Fisher. There is no connection  to the previous Frankenstein Hammer films, The Revenge of Frankenstein'  A flashback creates a prior history that is wholly unrelated to the last Sangster Frankenstein script.  For the U.S. television release there were additional scenes added, on finding that the film was some 15 mins short of the average movie  time slot on US TV.. this would have an impact on the space available for TV advertisements!  The INSERTS featured characters that didn't appear in the original film and have no inter-action with the main characters. Patrick Horgan plays a reporter who questions a doctor (Steven Geray) about Baron Frankenstein. There are also scenes of the deaf-mute girl (Tracy Stratford) and her parents (Maria Palmer and William Phipps), none of whom ever appear in the film again.....!

A NEW WEEKLY feature for a Friday night.....#THEFRIDAYNIGHTDILEMMA. The perfect birthday gift for your Cushing Fan Friend. BUDGET £10 (US $6) - £25. (US $12) Suggestions PLEASE!

#MONSTERMONDAY: DARTH VADER

#MONSTERMONDAY: He's been called the ultimate baddie, the bad guy's, bad guy! The most evil force in the Star wars universe! He is probably all those things... plus for us, he is another character from the dark-side of the Peter Cushing filmography... Cushing having appeared with him in #STARWARS as the other black-hat, Grand Moff Tarkin. Together they made quite the team, making knees tremble, planets explode and giving audiences down the years, much to boo at... even if he did receive redemption at the end...and that is why today we celebrate, and bestow our #monstermonday crown, to #DARTHVADER, a FORCE to be reckoned with indeed!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN PRESS BOOK

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: IT WAS THE FIRST, and some say the best. Peter Cushing first Frankenstein for Hammer films in 1957. Here is the cover of the press-book, for that miles stone film... note that the 'creature is a non-descript figure in the bottom left, Hammer would say, we didn't want to give away the appearance of OUR creation. But we know, that the make and facial appearance (make up job) of Christopher Lee's 'monster' was still being finalized just days away from him stepping before the camera.....

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: TODAY WE WISH a happy birthday to the lovely Eunice Gayson. Best known for playing Sylvia Trench, James Bond's girlfriend in the first two Bond films (Dr. No 1963 and From Russia with Love 1963). Originally, Gayson was to be cast as Miss Moneypenny, but that part went to Lois Maxwell instead.

#MONSTERMONDAY: HORROR EXPRESS CREATURE IN THE CRATE!

#MONSTERMONDAY: ....So, you've decided to go on that much needed holiday / vacation and opt for a long journey to your destination by...train. Two days in, the food is awful, there's always queues for the rest rooms are nasty AND blocked...and then, there's an ape like maniac loose on the train, who is roaming around in the dark, killing everyone. You wouldn't mind so much, but you suspect, he hasn't even bought a TICKET! Wow. What a Monster! To be fair, the 'primitive humanoid creature' at the center of this very popular horror film, was quite happy having nap for 200,000 years, when it was rudely woken, stuffed in a crate, and lobbed into a train wagon ... not even access to the buffet car or a second class ticket! I would be stomping around, fit to murder someone too! The choice is YOURS Monster or Victim?

'HORROR EXPRESS' was made for $300,000 (about £240,570 sterling at today prices) though you would never know it. With a sparkling cast, headed up by Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Telly Savalas, the story twists and zips along like Thomas the Tank engine on sherbert meets The Walking Dead. While often cited as being loosely borrowing it's format of 'The Thing from Another World' (1951) . . . this film that has much more going for it, than just that... and there is something for everyone...monster on a train, Cushing, Lee, zombies .. and a very humm-able theme tune, provided by John Cacavas, who also wrote the theme to 'The Satanic Rites of Dracula'.

THE SATANIC RITES OF DRACULA MONTAGE

#HAMMERFILMSATURDAY : It's the weekend, it's Saturday...and only GOOD things should happen, weekends...like treats. Like this wonderful montage using John Cacavas (Airport 1975, Kojak, Horror Express) music and a skillful edited from CNN Ironhandz . .. It's Glitter meets the Gothic in Hammer films 1973, The Satanic Rites of Dracula starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. together as the Count and the Hunter, for one last time. The older I get, the more I really DO love this films and Dracula AD 1972. too There's a VERY DARK LATTE at the Cavern Coffee Bar, that this will be released on BLU RAY before the end of the year! (2017)
