NEWS: EDWARDS LET SLIP ON TARKIN RETURN USA TODAY

IN A RECENT INTERVIEW, HAS DIRECTOR GARETH EDWARDS LET SLIP, THAT VADER ISN'T GOING TO BE THE ONLY ONE RETURNING IN DECEMBER'S 'ROGUE ONE : STAR WARS STORY?‘

The British director may have revealed some interesting details of  a surprising return in an interview with USA Today, while discussing the film’s main antagonist, Orson Krennic. He revealed that Krennic, the head of Empire’s advanced weapons research wing, played by actor Ben Mendelsohn, will it seems, clash with the upper echelon’s of the Galactic Empire. “It feels like if the Empire ever have a job vacancy, they go to the Royal Shakespeare Company to headhunt people,” Edwards joked. He’s is of course, referring to the upper-class authority of actors such as, our very own Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin in the original movie.

WHEN EDWARDS WAS ASKED, whether he wanted Mendelsohn to adopt a similarly posh accent, Edwards said: “I like the idea that Ben’s character was much more working-class,” adding that he ascended through the Imperial hierarchy “through sheer force of personality and ideas.”

IT WAS THEN that Edwards potentially, reveals the return of a younger Grand Moff Tarkin . . . .“[Krennic] hits a brick wall in the hierarchy, where they won’t let him in the club and it’s going to turn into a them-or-us situation: either Krennic or Tarkin and the others,“ Edwards says.

REPORTS DATING BACK TO August last year have suggested Tarkin’s return, but no official word has come from the filmmakers or the film’s marketing. Some believe the figure seen from behind in 'Rogue One’s trailer (below) could be Tarkin. The hair and head shape certainly appear to be a match, if it were to be a younger Tarkin, maybe . . . A Mail Online UK newspaper feature back last year, reported that the Cushing - who sadly passed in 1994 - would be brought back to life digitally.

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: ROGUE ONE TARKIN WILL BE A WINNER!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: The making of a very good prosthetic likeness of #petercushing as #grandmofftarkinalong with addition CGI work will make #grandmofftarkin in #rogueone a definite improvement on his appearance in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY : TIMING, TARKIN, CARRIE FISHER AND A COOL BUST!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY Peter Cushing on VAN HELSING, vampire hunter . . . who he played FIVE times on the big screen from 1958 until 1974.

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: Jordu Schell's bust of #PETERCUSHING up close and personal! It's a #TOOCOOL  likeness to Peter in the role of #GRANDMOFFTARKIN from #STARWARS. Schell uses uses latex for most of the monster masks and busts he makes. This bust is made of silicone, as many of his hyper-real figures are. Silicone being more translucent than latex, adds to the sense of realism. Additionally, the eyes in this piece ARE glass eyes (custom created by David Hoehn), something which Jordu typically doesn't use in his monster masks either. Each hair was individually punched by hand, and the clothing was custom made. #TOOCOOLTUESDAY

#TOOCOOTUESDAY It's such a pity that Peter only had a few opportunities to play .... comic roles and black comedy... though he did often try to inject a little humor into his roles and work..

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: Both Alec Guiness and Peter Cushing admitted to understanding little of the script and the language of film, #STARWARS while working on it. Peter often joked that he had no idea too, what a 'Moff Tarkin' could be. However, he knew a great role when he saw one, no matter what the character maybe called. Peter admitted he took the role of Grand Moff Tarkin in #STARWARS for pretty much the same reason, why he chose any role, 'I thought my audience would like to see me in that role!' ...we certainly did!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: Carrie Fisher said little on record about her time working with Peter Cushing, but what she did she...was interesting. Veronica Carlson had the same problem back in 1969, in 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed'

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: FROM CHUMPS TO PROFESSOR : THE HISTORY OF PETER CUSHING IN COMIC STRIP

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: Some panels from the very rare and vintage comic, #MOVIECOMIC from September 1939. This issue, number six included in it's colour pages, a comic strip adaption of  a Laurel and Hardy feature film, that was to be released the following year, 'A CHUMP AT OXFORD', which also included one Peter Cushing in it's cast! But, 1939 was just the beginning . . .

WITH THE ARRIVAL of the internet, portraits, comic strips and studies of Peter Cushing arrived on a website and forum called, DeviantArt. It was started by Scott Jarkoff (Jark), Angelo Sotira (Spyed) and Matt Stephens (Matteo), who launched the site on August 7, 2000. There are literally thousands of examples of artwork on the subject of Peter Cushing, and many comic strips too. There have of course since 2001, been several other smaller adaptions of the Star Wars saga, and many other strips that have inclusion of a Cushing-like character plus some adaptions of stories where again, the Peter Cushing image has influenced the look of a villain, doctor, academic, in comic strips and comic art. The MOST IMPRESSIVE of all of these is the breath-taking THE PROFESSOR . . .

AND SO the image and influence of Peter Cushing is still very much with as an  a comic strip character. Something that he would ndever have dreamed back in 1939, when his image was first pressed into the comic strip panel of MOVIE COMIC....

TWENTY TWO THOUSAND FOLLOWERS AND FREINDS : THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

TODAY, thanks to everyone who visits our Facebook Fan Page, we have hit another amazing milestone! The Peter Cushing Appreciation Society Facebook Fan Page now has Over 22 THOUSAND Friends and Followers! This has only been archived with your fantastic support, your likes, shares, interaction...which I am, as always very humbled by and most grateful.

PCAS was founded back in 1956, but in 1979 Peter Cushing decided that, because he was then committing to less work, that the public would lose interest, and requested that his fan clubs around the world be closed. I took over the society in 1978 and made a decision to carry on, believing that there would ALWAYS be an interest in Peter Cushing and his work... here we are in 2016 and the interest is even greater! You make it so... and that I am sure, would have warmed Peter's heart tremendously .. Here's to the next milestone and the fun along the way. Thank You - Marcus Brooks
