REMEMBERING VINCENT PRICE TODAY: GIFS CLIPS AND STILLS

WE REMEMBERING VINCENT PRICE who we lost on this day in 1993. Feel free to share your memories of Vincent in the comments thread at our FEATURED POSTS at the PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE

For #SILENTBUTDEADLY! today, we will posting a selection of #gifs from Our Five Vincent Price Films. No order of preference, but everyone a GEM!

NUMBER 1#: ANY LIST OF PRICE'S work MUST consider the 1959 'HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL'...you agree? Price's Frederick Loren, is a delight. Full of that 1950's spooky drive in feeling. This zoom in intro in the film, on it's own REALLY spooked me as a kid... and WOW Elisha Cook jr.... also REALLY unnerved me. Is THIS film in YOUR top Five? I have never been to a US Drive-IN before, but I am going tomorrow, so wish me luck!

YOU CAN FIND A FULL FEATURE AND GALLERY AT THE BLACKBOXCLUB.COMOUR SISTER SITE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL  HERE!

NUMBER 2# : Comedy of Terrors (1963) . . .I was very late coming to this film. My first viewing was during a UK BBC2 double bill season, with my parents and grandparents, so for me, maybe like many here..I have an emotional attachment, to this film. My grandfather in particular LOVED it. I can not remember a time when he laughed that much! Karloff in this film, has more than a fleeting resemblance, to my grandfather's brother . . . and I might say, was just as batty! Personally I love EVERYTHING about this film. I could, but I won't ramble about it, the film speaks for itself. Price, Karloff, Lorre, Rathbone...wow! Does anyone know if, the obvious title connection to a play by the Bard... was this story ever performed as a theatrical production??? I think it would work extremely well on stage...! No? One of YOUR favs maybe too??

NUMBER 4# 'Theatre Of Blood' So many good things about this film. A huge favorite! and THIS SCENE is one of many that stay with you a long time after the closing credits. So MANY deaths, and each one, so well done:) Do you have a favorite death scene maybe??? In marking the anniversary of Vincent Price's passing today, I hope our little top five has whetted your appetite to revisit some of your favorite Vincent Price movies this weekend and at Halloween too!

ABOVE: From our PCAS YOUTUBE Channel RARE VINCENT PRICE TALKS ABOUT Theatre Of Blood (1973)

NUMBER  5#  Amicus films,  MADHOUSE (1974) stars both Vincent Price AND Peter Cushing, in a rare opportunity to see them working together. We have several clips scattered around the website site, and watching them  in the movie, gives us just a taste of what opportunities were probably missed. MADHOUSE with  it's twists and turns, moments of camp and black humor seems in recent times, to be receiving some late but well deserved, praise. Price plays Paul Toombes as very much the victim of circumstances for much of the film, but come to the time for revenge... the film was shot under the title of 'The Revenge of Doctor Death'... all stops are out for a thrilling confrontation . . .

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VINCENT PRICE AND CHRISTOPHER LEE!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO VINCENT PRICE AND CHRISTOPHER LEE! You couldn't fail to notice yesterday, it was the anniversary of Peter Cushing's birthday yesterday? And today, as if that was enough excitement... we also celebrate another TWO great titans of cinema, Christopher Lee and Vincent Price! This is always a special treat we look forward to every year, when we have a TRIPLE opportunity, to indulge and enjoy, and binge on our favorite fantasy films...and everything that goes with that! Are you planning a Christopher lee and Vincent Price FILM BINGE this weekend?? If so, share your idea of the perfect playlist, I am sure many here would appreciate the suggestions, to make their BINGE go with a BANG!

WHERE MANY TODAY ACROSS the net are marking their birthdays in posts individually, we take the opportunity, where we can, to post items, that feature all three Price, Lee and Cushing together. TODAY we have a great example of that! Later we'll be posting a NEW clip from the Cushing and Lee, 'The Last Meeting' archive footage. Where back in 1994, Christopher Lee regales Cushing with an anecdote about Vincent Price!!  'The Last Meeting' archive is, raw video footage of the last time Cushing and Lee met before Peter Cushing passed away in August 1994. The occasion was the recording of a narration script, for the documentary 'Flesh and Blood'. During their time at the studio in Canterbury, England, a camera recorded their candid conversation, their jokes, chat, reminiscing and much more besides. As you can imagine, it makes for quite emotional viewing.

Over the past three years, we have uploaded and shared many clips and extracts from that hour long recording, all of which can be seen at our PCAS YOUTUBE CHANNEL, at this website and our PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE. So, do drop in during the day, to catch our NEW and never before seen clip and the final part of our 'The Making of the House of Long Shadows' feature...the only feature films where, Cushing, Price and Lee starred together in a feature film! help us to remember and celebrate the lives and work of Vincent Price and Christopher Lee on their SPECIAL DAY!

BTW: The Birthday Banner rare pic of #vincentprice and #christopherlee together in 1977 is a bit of a mystery to me... anyone have any idea where this was taken, I'd be grateful if you could let me know? Marcus. There is no Lee Fan Club at the moment, but I would recommend you seek out christopherleefan's sites https://www.youtube.com/user/ChristopherLeeFan. Vincent Price has an excellent facebook page, which is managed and maintained by his family. Seek em out here: https://www.facebook.com/MasterofMenace/

REMEMBERING : MICHAEL HORDERN : FISHING AND MAKING THE BEST CATCH

REMEMBERING : Actor Michael Hordern Born Today.... here is an actor as prolific as Cushing, who from the beginning cast his net wide and played quite an eclectic and diverse collection of roles. Both he and Peter Cushing had established theatre careers before appearing in film and on tv. Hordern, sticks in most fantasy films fan minds for his portrayal as the pompous theatre crictic George Maxwell in Vincent Price's Theatre of Blood and the M.R James BBC Ghost story, Whistle and I'll Come to from 1968. He also chimes a sweet memory for me as the narrator of the BBC Paddington Bear stories. Hordern appeared with Cushing in the 1956 film , Alexander the Great as Demosthenes. Hordern like Cushing played many Shakespearean roles, and his worn and conservative looks made him the go-to-guy for civil servants in Brit 1950's movies and the character of Jacob Marley in several productions of 'A Christmas Carol'.

A quality actor, whose autobiography 'A World Elsewhere' is worth looking up. Among the stories of his obsession with fly-fishing, there are some very interesting insights to this most gentle of men.

ALEXANDER THE GREAT: It had the cast, the budget . . it also had Cushing! So, what went wrong. Feature later this week!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIANA RIGG : DAME ACTRESS ICON AND GIF!

OK WE ARE HOLDING OFF ON #cushingcollectables until our NEXT post today, in order to bring you this...! ''Women of my age are still attractive. Men of my age are not' ... so said, this amazing icon of entertainment last year. And you know, Dame Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg, DBE...does have point! Many actors from her era have either left us, or look like an unmade bed! We all know the Cushing Connection here, Mrs Peel in the Brit 1960's tv series, The Avengers, where PC played the very dashing Paul Beresford, a smooth operator, pushing all the buttons as romantic interest for Rigg's all action Mrs Peel and a finger on the button of death that commanded his deadly Cybernaut!

DIANA RIGG'S CAREER  also features the splendid 'Theatre of Blood' with Vincent Price. She also worked with Christopher Lee in the Avengers tv series.in 'Never, Never Say Die' in 1967. Currently starring in the international hit tv series, Game of Thrones, Rigg is in no hurry to retire, and I think like Mrs Pell, she'll be 'socking it to us' for a while yet Happy Birthday Diana Rigg, born today in 1938.

THIS YEAR, 2016 marks the 60th anniversary of PCAS, help us celebrate Peter Cushing life and career, by sharing our post on any of our sites.

REMEMBERED AND CELEBRATED TODAY : HAPPY BIRTHDAY VINCENT PRICE

SO, PETER YESTERDAY, Christopher Lee AND.... VINCENT PRICE today! Nothing I can say here that hasn't already been said about the versatile Vinnie... certainly a 'Man of the Arts', whose distinctive voice and excellent performances in fantasy films, made him a firm favourite for over 40 years!

His career spanned other genres, including film noir, drama, mystery, thriller, and comedy. He appeared on stage, television, radio, and in over one hundred films.... a good friend of both Peter and Christopher, though only appeared on screen with them BOTH just the once, in 'The House of the Long Shadows' in 1983.
