TELLY LEE AND GOLF : ROBERT STEPHENS AND CHRISTOPHER LEE PLUS A FACEBOOK GROUP THAT SCORES A TEN!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! Here are some highlights from a show that appeared on BBC TV back in the 80's and 90's. Various celebs were invited to play a few rounds of Gold in a Celebrity Tournament . . .Lee was matched with his 'Horror Express' co-star Telly Savalas. ' Tee Splitting Shots and Swipes' were par for the day . . . and Telly was quite the player!

HOUSE-KEEPING I just want to make you aware of a SUPERB facebook group, that's sitting there waiting for you to knock it's door and join them. The Robert Stephens Appreciation Society is curated by Joanna. She produces quite superb visuals to accompany her enormously informative and entertaining posts. Having my account set to when she makes posts, I sitting here daily, chin on carpet, at the rare archive material she shares.

STEPHEN'S was a one off, an actor like no other really, with a fascinating off screen life to match. I think Christopher Lee must have felt blessed the day, he received the call from Billy Wilder, to join him and Stephens in making 'The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes'. Lee was VERY proud of his work in the film, and I believe one of the reasons, was Stephens ability to share on screen with him.... HERE is the link: Go visit this group, you wont be disappointed... and JOIN HERE!

YESTERDAY WE POSTED our TRIBUTE to actress and Dancer, PRUDENCE HYMAN in our CUSHING FEMME FATALES FRIDAYS! feature. The feature is broken down into three sections her ballet career, her film work and the later years appearing at gala's and comedy revues. There is rare footage of Prudence dancing in what was called The Dance Club in 1931, which laid the ground work for Ballet Rambert in the UK.

RARE FOOTAGE from her appearance in BLUE SCAR, plus Pathe footage... all pretty cool stuff, that celebrates Prudence's life and reminds us, of what a genuinely super talented lady! You can see catch up and see it : BY CLICKING HERE!

THE SIR ROBERT STEPHENS APPRECIATION SOCIETY

CONSIDERING THERE ARE SO MANY film, actor fan pages and groups, across facebook and the web, I only belong to a handful, mainly because, just posting a fuzzy photograph or asking you name your top five films, every other day. . .doesn't quite cut it for me personally. I want to see some thought put in and some interesting and engaging material. . . .please...! Rare photographs / memorabilia shared and a true insight to the subject matter of said page / group. I want to feel when I have taken time to visit there, that I have learned something or and had fun.

THE SIR ROBERT STEPHENS APPRECIATION SOCIETY, has only recently been launched, and I am very happy to say, that if what has been shared there already, is anything like we can expect in the future.... Joanna Keani Jones, who creates the posts and admins the group, is doing a fabulous job.

"The Sir Robert Stephens Appreciation Society is a celebration of the life & artistry of this incredibly gifted actor. Sir Robert always gave his best in performance and in the process, created a myriad of incredible character studies in which the viewer could relate to, understand and very often, find sympathy with, regardless of the character's intentions.

Because of Sir Robert's ability to create such emotion-fueled, nuanced portrayals in film, theatre, TV & radio, he garnered many admirers of his work which continues on today, some 20-plus years after his passing. This group has been created to discuss and share information with like-minded enthusiasts of all things Sir Robert." -Joanna Keani Jones

YOU HAVE TO BE PASSIONATE TO CREATE banners, images and content like Joanna has. Rare theatre programmes, stills, reviews, clippings. It's ALL there and shared in hi res. As I mentioned in our early post, Stephens was a very rare talent indeed. A complicated man, with a complicated life. I can assure you, the content at the 'Sir Robert Stephens Appreciation Society Group', will never be dull, just because Stephens was far from dull, and Joanna shares material that really does show the breath of his career and the diverse roles he played.

I CAN'T PRAISE THIS GROUP enough and I am so happy to see someone doing such a fine job. Don't take my word for it, first watch the excellent promo trailer below and then if you have a facebook account, GO SEE FOR YOURSELF. THEN LIKE and come back and tell us, what you think? .Thank you. - Marcus

WATCH CHRISTOPHER LEE AS SHERLOCK HOLMES : PLUS CLIPS AND GIFS!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY: Christopher Lee throughout his career has had many connections with the world of Sherlock Holmes, today we are going to be featuring at some of them here and at our PCAS FACEBOOK FAN PAGE.

SHERLOCK HOLMES And The Deadly Necklace (1962) is when Lee first played the famous detective with Hammer regular Thorley Walters as Dr. Watson & directed by Terence Fisher. Filming took place in July and August 1962 in Ireland, London and the CCC-Studios in Berlin, with Lee donning a false nose.

DEADLY NECKLACE was originally filmed in English, but the English language audio track used in the film was recorded in post-production, as was common with many European productions at the time and so another American actor dubbed Lee. The film had all the ingredients to be great, with Fisher at helm, Lee donning some great make-up, but unfortunately it was a misfire for many people, the biggest problem with the film not using Lee's voice & weak story, with both Lee and Fisher being disappointed in the final outcome.

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY: OUR SECOND LOOK at Christopher Lee's Sherlock connections, is from The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes (1970) directed by Hollywood legend Billy Wilder who Lee often referred to as the greatest director he ever worked with.

A WHOLE FEATURE AND GALLERY OF COLOUR STILLS ON 'PRIVATE LIFE'  CAN BE FOUND AT OUR BLACKBOXCLUB WEBSITE :  HERE!

HERE LEE PLAYS Mycroft Holmes the even smarter, mysterious older brother of Sherlock, Lee had the unusual distinction of being the only actor to play both brothers on screen. Lee considered this film a very important one in his career, as he believed this film to be the reason he stopped being typecast: "I've never been typecast since.”
