RARELY SEEN SHERLOCK HOLMES PHOTOGRAPHS : PC SIGNED STILL COMMANDS GOOD PRICES

HERE ARE THREE rarely seen publicity photographs taken during the making of the BBC television series 'Sherlock Holmes' with #PeterCushing in 1968 during the making of 'A Study In Scarlet'. As you will probably know, most of the episodes were destroyed by the BBC during the great BBC Spring Clean, where hundreds of hours of material were wiped and tapes reused or skipped off to the skip! All that remains of Cushing's episodes, were compiled onto first a VHS then a DVD collection, and are now available to give us a taster of what was a very popular television series, no largely lost . .

SIGNED PETER CUSHING black and white photograph! Caught this on the net yesterday. It's great to see that Peter's autographed pics, can still command a good price and still have value. £365.00 is the asking price for this one Are you the proud owner of a signed Peter Cushing photograph, personalized or just signed?

PC 'BUILDS UP' TO ANOTHER GREAT TELEVISION PERFORMANCE FOR ORSON WITH NETWORK DVD

RELEASED TOMORROW 'Orson Welles Great Mysteries' and along with a feast of other great names and casts, Peter Cushing stars with Susannah York in 'La Grande Breteche' ... Cushing gives us a top notch 'sly and cruel' performance.

NO MERCY IN THIS CUSHING ROLE, for sure. But it is wonderful to see this very cool TV series from the 1970's. Network has a done a very good job in presenting the series, just as it was seen back in the day.

SHOT ON 'EARLY DAYS' VIDEO, with some film inserts, it is, what it is. Anyone who is familiar with the visual quality of Anglia TV's early 'Tales of the Unexpected' or some of the Cushing's BBC Sherlock episodes, will be aware of where studio television production and editing was at, during this time. If you are familiar too with the quality of the BBC 1970's classic, 'I, Claudius', you'll know there was little room for tone and shadows, early TV video cameras, needed light. But that doesn't spoil or take anything away from what we are watching here. In this first Volume from Network..let us hope there will be a second...it's the performances, the drama and tension that is worth every penny!

SOME REVIEWERS, will have already received their copies and maybe some of you too? I would love to hear any opinions you may have on this much awaited for TV classic!

It's in mint condition, one of two that I personally own. The framed photograph was donated by Hammer Art back in 2011. It was signed in 2012, along with another exact version of what was being signed. Today is the day, I am giving one away as a prize😮😀 The frame with the photograph is 20 x 14.5″ in size, printed on Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper 315gsm and was one of ONLY TEN in a limited edition. Have fun with this and GOOD LUCK Everyone! 😊 - Marcus

#FEMMEFATLE FRIDAY: Meanwhile out on the mooooor! Here's quite rare and very intresting behind the scenes snap of director Terence Fisher working with Christopher Lee and Marla Landi, during the making of Hammer films, one and only Sherlock Holmes film,'The Hound Of The Baskervilles' (1959) Landi certainly sizzled in her role of the very handsey but highly deceptive, Cecile. She also appeared with Lee in Hammer's 'Pirates Of Blood River' (1962). Quite a fiery and passionate personality off stage and camera Landi was allegally was quite attracted to Lee. Which frightened Lee more than any Hell Hound! Landi landed the role in Baskervilles, after Peter Cushing saw her in a theatre production, and suugested her for the role. She auditioned and nailed it! 😊

THE 1958 HAMMER DRACULA, Phantom of the Opera, Dr Terrors House of Horrors and..KONGA! Today marks the birthday of Michael Gough! Gough had quite an interesting film career, some hits and some misses, but all entertaining. Two films which starred Peter Cushing and packed career on stage and screen. Do YOU have a favourite Michael Gough film? Happy Birthday Michael Gough, you are remembered!

RARE COLOUR PHOTOGRAPH FROM THE ZOO GANG PLUS THE SMOKING JACKET CONNECTION!

PETER CUSHING AND JAQUELINE PEARCE in THE ZOO GANG! Peter Cushing appeared in an episode of the UK ITC series called 'THE ZOO GANG' back in 1974. In 'THE COUNTERFEIT TRAP', CUSHING plays Judge Gautie and appears with the very neat cast of actors who play the 'GANG', which included John Mills, Brian Keith, Lili Palmer and Barry Morse... the majority CUSHING had much experience of working with in previous productions, like Amicus films to Sherlock Holmes and theatre too! The Zoo Gang was released in a blu ray box set earlier this year. I would love to hear from anyone who also purchased it and hear what they think of the great extras and episodes. . .

THE SMOKING JACKET that Peter Cushing wore in this episode of THE ZOO GANG, was also worn by Peter in Amicus films, 'THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD' (1970). The jacket also went up for sale at auction back in April 2016. The auction house, Bonham's had a problem, in that they knew Peter had worn it, but were not sure in which tv show or movie. When they purchased the jacket, they were told that Peter wore it in a Sherlock Holmes episode for the BBC back in 1969! They dropped us a line and asked if we knew. I immediately recognised it from The House That Dripped Blood... and The Zoo Gang! They generously gave us a credit in the auction catalogue, and the jacket went for a great price! NO FOLK DANCING OR INCEST! CHRISTOPHER LEE SATURDAY!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! Christopher Lee may have had a period of time during his long and successful career where he was type cast, but he also played a huge variety of characters and roles while competing with that unfair perception and reputation... He certainly believed in pushing his boundaries and building his experience. . .Well, in his words, read our banner today. I would have LOVED to have seen the interviewers face and expression, when he came out with this, amusing quip! - Marcus
