#CHRISTOPHERLEE INTERVIEW : #PANTS! SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE! #LEATHERBIKERS AND MARRIAGE!

#WATCHWITHCUSHING! Over at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE I have posted a NEW INTERVIEW with Christopher Lee for you this #pcasuk #ChristopherLee Saturday! RIGHT HERE! I believe this was shot by THAMES Television in the UK. Here he covers quite a bit! New stories, he is relaxed, having fun, even though the presenter is a bit of dope.. you'll spot it! UK 'all-round ace entertainer' Lionel Blair is polite and more on the button. Lee and his #trousers / Pants story is funny and one #PeterCushing would have appreciated!

THERE ARE SEVERAL little nuggets, subjects that Lee has covered many times, but you can see the method which many actors use, like Cushing, when they start the 'chat and yak' show circuit over years . .  you keep something back! This seems to be the case here, '... now with a little more detail, the EXTENDED version!' 😃😉 Shame on me, but I still have yet to catch Lee in '#Serial' (1980) . . if you have seen it, please share come over to the Facebook Fan Page and SHARE your thoughts and opinions on the THREAD! 😊 Please stay well and SAFE! - Marcus

ALSO SHARED ON THE FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE is THIS little bit of fun that was posted to me a few days ago! I have seen it around, and thought you may have missed it! I have no idea who the artist is, if it is YOU please shout and I will of course credit you 😊 On posting this fine picture / painting this morning UK, it was no time at all before some eagle-eyed follower remembered something very similar from a long way back in #Hammerfilms #TheVampireLovers, one General von Spielsdorf, played by Peter Cushing!

UPDATE: FOR A FEW HOURS, I sat while reading several comments on the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE about this post with Cushing in his multi medalled painting / portrait. I kept thinking where has that head come from.. . . it doesn't look like it's sitting correctly on those shoulders and collar? Then the obvious finally hit me, I am even slower these days of isolation and bouncing off four walls. It IS of course lifted off the NECK in this photograph, I have posted here.... many times!

ALERT! SUPERB NEW BOOK PUBLISHED AND WAITING FOR ITS PLACE IN YOUR COLLECTION PLUS VINCENT AND THE MONSTER MASH PLUS 'BASKERVILLES' PART TWO!

FOLLOWING OUR POST of #VincentPrice singing of 'When Day Is Done' last week, this prompted quite a few messages at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE requesting this little ditty! Vincent sings, ladies dance and with some neat editing it works! Released back in 1977, this almost laid the path for a certain hit to come maybe? Vincent was far from the only one to record his own version of this 1962, Bobby 'Boris' Pickett hit. #TheBeachBoys, The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Zacherle the Cool Ghoul and #TheMisfits also had a go. Even with the amazing Leon Russell providing the piano breaks on Pickett's recording, the BBC failed to see the funny side and banned the song for being ‘too morbid.’ in 62! You can catch VP and his 'Monster Mash'  at the PCASUk Fan Page : HERE!

HERE'S WHAT I WILL be spending my pocket money on tomorrow . . and if you love the work of #VincentPrice and are also interested in finding out about what made him tick and his time in the UK . . . . . you will too! I NEED a GOOD read and this one I know will be that and more! LOVE the cover art, Mark 😉

#VincentLeonardPrice JUNIOR DIED ON on 25 October 1993 from lung cancer, and complications of emphysema and Parkinson’s disease. His death left family, friends and fans with a great sense of loss, especially in Britain where The Times' obituary described him as ‘the king of modern horror movies.’ Price was significantly influential in Britain. When American International Pictures, who Price was under contract with, established a base in London in the sixties, most of his subsequent movies were made in the UK. His British output consolidated his popularity among fans, and provided him with many career defining performances.

THIS BOOK EXPLORES the British films of Vincent Price. From 'Masque of the Red Death' and 'The Tomb of Ligeia', through 'The Abominable Doctor Phibes' and 'Theatre of Blood', to 'The Monster Club' and 'Edward Scissorhands', author Mark Iveson leaves no stone unturned in his love and appreciation of Price’s work. A fascinating tribute to a man who can never be equalled or replaced.

YOU CAN ONLY ORDER YOUR COPY OF VINCENT PRICE : THE BRITISH CONNECTION: HERE!

MORE THAN EYE CANDY : A FIGHTER ON AND OFF SCREEN : JULIE EGE REMEMBERED

TODAY WE REMEMBER JULIE EGE, a model and actress, she starred in the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1968) also in the Creatures The World Forgot (1971) for Hammer….she co-starred with Peter Cushing in Hammer's 'Legend Of The Seven Golden Vampires' (1974). Julie was much MORE than eye candy and thankfully, after her acting career moved on to a whole new life. Here is a very good feature on Julie, that gives the bigger picture and shows how she excelled right until her sad end . .

'For Ege, graduating as a nurse fulfilled a childhood dream, but  like others on this website, it also saved her life. While studying for her final exams, Ege discovered the early signs of breast cancer and believed that it was her new found knowledge that helped her detect the disease. Undeterred by the extensive medical treatment, including a mastectomy, she went on to work as a nurse for 22 years, facing the disease head on, including subsequent diagnoses of ovarian and lung cancer. She wrote her autobiography Naked, and continued to attend premieres and events in Oslo while at the Buskerud Hospital in Drammen. “She was a nurse and loved the job,” said her daughter Joanna to The Express newspaper. “You would never have known she had this rich, glamorous past if you’d met her. You would have just been struck by her energy, her smile and her determination to help people."  JUST CLICK HERE!

TOP SECRET: CUSHING BOOK STORE SCENE AS SHOT IN FORWARD MOTION!

#PETERCUSHING in The Book Store Scene from Top Secret BUT.. played as it was shot, in FORWARD MOTION! Seeing the clip like this it's easy to see how hard this was to shoot! It's one shot, which means no edits or cutaways, so when the camera rolled, it was don't stop until we have finished the shot, complete in one take. If anyone made a mistake, it was back to the beginning, at the fire-pole.

CUSHING DOES REPEAT A LINE of dialogue, which would have been hard to hear in the reverse motion that appeared in the film, and is only now heard, because we have it in raw footage, as shot. I wonder how many takes this might have taken, to get that one in the can????

CUSHING AND PLEASENCE ON MOTHER'S DAY!

/

#GETTHECUSHIONITSCUSHING! As the strap lines says, Purrfect extracts for our Sunday theme, not only Peter Cushing bringing you a sting in his TAIL, but also Donald Pleasence's in one of Milton Subotsky's last outings, 'The Uncanny'. Subotsky often repeated some of his more popular threads and ideas from past Amicus films, and the camp OTT Horror film actor, was a motif he give us in 'The House That Dripped Blood'. with Jon Pertwee playing the meaty role of the waspish dandy, Paul Henderson. Here Pleasence plays it to the hilt, not so much the meaty dandy, but as 'Ham on a Shuskabab'! You'll see what we mean.

I HAVE ALWAYS enjoyed this film, and can't quite understand the mauling it received on it's release in 1977.. I think it's the cat's whiskers! 😉 What do you think? Is this a winner with you?

#GETTHECUSHIONITSCUSHION! TODAY here in the UK we are celebrating #MONTHERSDAY .... and we couldn't let that slip by without posting a pic of PC's Mother, Nellie Maria Cushing (1892-1961) To ALL Mothers, Mums, Ma's and Mummy's.... Happy Mothers Day!

CUSHING COLLECTABLES: ANNOTATED PAGES AUTOBIOGRAPHY NOTES

#COLLECTABLESWEDNESDAY I have never before shared images of these collectables, in fact only a handful of people have even ever seen them! But for you, today here they are!.... They are I guess, a one of originals in collectable terms. These are Peter Cushing's personal notes, written in his own hand, made during the compiling of his first autobiography.

THERE ARE 15 PAGES IN ALL, some are paragraphs in rough form, from the chapters of the book, lots of doodles, notes to himself and reminders to 'check this' with question marks...! These are the pages of notes that went to make the filmography and titles of television and theatre performances through out his long career, that appeared at the back of the book. Some titles are just shooting titles, that were changed upon the films release. He also lists he awards, tour date, also if a production were for tv or screen. They make fascinating reading as Cushing tries to chronologically piece together the puzzle. How I came upon these notes. . . . is a story in itself, which I will share with you, next week - Marcus

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY : PETER CUSHING AND PATRICK TROUGHTON 'THE BLACK KNIGHT' (1946)

#‎TOOCOOLTUESDAY‬: The Black Knight (1954)...Yes, it is hokey, Yes, Ladd is short, And, yes to a million one other reasons many have expressed that this film is a 'sword and sandal' medieval mess up...BUT Peter Cushing, as ever gives a top notch performance. Not only does he play the role very well indeed, he looks very COOL.... In our short clip here, Cushing appears with Patrick Troughton  who is on fine form.  The clip also gives to actors known for their connection with  Dr / Doctor  Who!

MANY ON SEEING  publicity stills from the film, find it hard to believe it's our man playing Sir Palamides. Also I can always find time to watch Andre Morell, Harry Andrews and Patrick Troughton. Worth a watch for those four reasons alone!
