Also starring Christopher Lee and directed by Peter Sasdy who directed several of Hammer Films more interesting productions, Taste the Blood of Dracula, Countess Dracula and Hands of the Ripper.

Peter Cushing as the dashing yet villainous 'Sheriff of Nottingham' in Hammer's SWORD OF SHERWOOD FOREST (1960) directed by Terence Fisher. The script seems unsure whether the 'Sheriff' is the real villain or not. In fact, Richard Pasco's 'Earl of Newark' is the real baddie (Oliver Reed plays his back-stabbing henchman 'Lord Melton'). 

Cushing says more with a look than most actors can with a soliloquy and though the screenplay never really takes full advantage his true talents it's well worth a watch. Hammer's handsomely mounted film is an adaptation of the popular television series THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD with Richard Greene reprising his starring role. Cushing, second-billed, earned £3,500 for his role.
