#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! DUBBING THE UNICORN

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! *The English sections of the show begin at 1:15* In 1983 Christopher Lee appeared in a German television programme, where he talked about his career and life, but also his recent work, in the dubbing studio, recording in German his character, King Haggard in the animated film, 'The Last Unicorn' 1983. Here, we see, Christopher Lee dubbing his character King Haggard, in German! Not unlike his approach to preparation for the role of Saruman in 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy, Christopher Lee showed up for the recording sessions armed with his own copy of the book, with several places marked to indicate things that must not, in his opinion, be omitted. Enjoy!

DO YOU KNOW YOUR FU FROM YOUR TONG?

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAYS! It's a role you don't hear much about these days, Dracula, Saruman and Count Dooku cast a long shadow... but Lee did play FU MANCHU in FIVE films : The Face of Fu Manchu (1965) The Brides of Fu Manchu (1966) The Vengeance of Fu Manchu (1967) The Blood of Fu Manchu (1968) The Castle of Fu Manchu (1969)... plus Chung King in Hammer films, 'Terror of the Tongs' in 1961. Are you a fan of Lee's FU? Is one considered better than the others...educate me, I know next to nothing about this series of films...and am contemplating a FU night!

TRIVIA: What is the name of the actress who appeared in all FIVE FU films with Lee?  . . . AND When Christopher Lee played FU MANCHU, his mustache is LONGER than CHUNG KING's in 'Terror of the Tongs'??? True or False?

NEWS : SNARK WILL NOT BE CHRISTOPHER LEES LAST MOVIE

THE AWARD WINNING ACTORS Tracey Birdsall and Barry Corbin are at this time, shooting THE TIME WAR, the writer-director Neil Johnson's long gestating science-fiction thriller that started development way back in 2010. The good news is, THE TIME WAR features the legendary actor, the late Christopher Lee (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars : Attack of the Clones) in what could be, his final screen role.

Filmmaker Johnson was so sure that the film would get made one day, that in November of 2010, he paid Sir Christopher Lee to record an opening narration, while at Abbey Road studios on other business. Johnson didn't realize that this would be the last time that he would see the acclaimed actor, who passed in 2015.

CHRISTOPHER LEE : ONE YEAR ON . . .

SO HERE WE ARE . .  It's been a whole year since the day we woke, to the terrible sad news that, the last remaining figure head of a 'Golden Age', had left us. The towering talent that was, Christopher Lee had gone.

FOR WEEKS afterwards, tributes, television specials and features filled the media, and for many it was sudden realisation, like looking from the top of a mountain, and seeing this vast spread, a different coloured landscape... THE huge and prolific career, of Christopher Lee!

OVER THE DAYS, fans revisited films, youtube clips, watched reruns of his movies on tv, posted stories on facebook of meeting him, autographs collected were shared, other actors, friends and people within the industry shared their stories too. WE posted photographs and banners, interviews and long lost tv appearances, but it was still hard weeks later, come Christmas..and no video festive message!

I HAVE A GROUP OF FREINDS who aren't 'into' the genre and some of the films, we celebrate here, but they too found themselves, 'digging out' and watching not just the Lee classics, but his lesser known tv work too, in an attempt to find out for themselves, 'what WAS the allure of this actor?'....some were pleasantly surprised!

AND THAT IS WHERE we are today. I would loved to hear, if you have 'gone digging' too? Have you over the last year revisited some Christopher Lee favourites..OR have you strayed further a field and discovered something you knew nothing about too, a film he appeared in you hadn't seen before and enjoyed??? I'd LOVE to know. He may not be physically with us now, but there will always be a thread, a post, a banner, a clip...always time to celebrate, the one and only... never to be replaced, Christopher Lee...right here!
