HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAY BROOKS

OVER AT The Facebook PCASUK Fan Page we are celebrating and wishing actor RAY BROOKS, a VERY Happy Birthday today! Anyone in the UK over the age of 25 would get a flash of nostalgia when they hear #RayBrooks speak. Brooks has rarely been out of work since starting his acting career in 1959. The broadcast of the bleak and hard hitting #KenLoach Wednesday Night Play 'Cathy Come Home' in 1966, showcased Brooks as an actor of substance in the role of Reg Ward in the bleak tale of young girl, Cathy who loses her home, husband and eventually her child through the inflexibility of the British welfare system. Those of us who watched it, would find it hard to forget! Just months before families had been enjoying his appearance with Peter Cushing as David in '#Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 ad' at the local flicks!

BUT IT MAYBE for voicing a short series of 13 animated shows for children that he holds a special place in the hearts and minds of most – and the inhabitant of 52 Festive Road is the focus of his new one-man show. A creation of illustrator David McKee, Mr Benn was about an ordinary man in a suit and bowler hat who embarked on extraordinary adventures every time he visited a fancy dress shop. His adventure always ended when, as if by magic, the shopkeeper appeared to bring him back to reality.

THE FULL IMPACT of #MrBenn – and idea for the one-man show – really hit Brooks two years ago when he was at an event marking the 100th anniversary of PETER CUSHING'S BIRTH. “We did the Dr Who film Daleks – Invasion Earth 2150 AD together,” says Brooks. “I was on stage talking about the film and Peter, and the interviewer brought up #MrBenn. When I said the phrase: ‘As if by magic, the shopkeeper appeared’ the audience leapt to their feet. I thought it was quite extraordinary." In 2002, he acted in BBC drama Two Thousand Acres of Sky. He joined the cast of the long-running BBC soap opera #EastEnders as Joe Macer in 2005.

ON SEPTEMBER 30th 2006, his character left the soap, in a very fitting and dramatic fashion (!!) ... happy to say, RAY is still with us, and here's to many more days and treats of watching Ray's work! A HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ray! - Marcus Check out VIDEO CLIP of Ray Brooks celebrating the 2013 #PeterCushing Centenary with a birthday cake, at the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page HERE!

'WELL YOUNG ACTORS TODAY AND IT'S ONLY MY PERSONAL OPINION!' CHRISTOPHER LEE SPEAKS OUT IN 2010 INTERVIEWS

THE FIRST OF THREE SHORT INTERVIEWS with #ChristopherLee was shared on the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE late last night. PART TWO will arrive on the Fan Page this afternoon! The interviews : Copyright John Farrell : Forbes : 2011

THE SECOND INTERVIEW,also contains some surprising points. We get more than a good idea on Lee's opinions on not only the state of the film  industry, back in 2010, but also his thoughts on young actors and the impact of their presence in some of the big movies of the last ten years. He has a very good point, and it will be interesting to see your opinions, in the comments over the next few days too...

THROWBACK TO 2016 BRINGS BIG GUNS AND THE MUCH LOVED VINCENT PRICE AND JON PERTWEE

HERE'S QUICK CATCH UP ON hat has been shared and posted at the over the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE over the past four days! Starting BIG GUNS, with prompted quick a few interesting suggestions and comments! Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward during the making of 'The Wicker Man' .. the release of the complete and unedited dvd and blu ray of the film is a real plus, seeing something of how the film should have looked, before it was hacked and grudgingly released back in 1973. I think Woodward makes a superb, Howie.. and not so sure, if Cushing's scheduling had fitted, if his portrayal of that role, would have been so different, to have maybe changed the film? Lots of comments when we asked, 'What do you think?' Feel free to click the link and add your thoughts too..

PLEASE JOIN US at the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page to wish actor Damian Thomas a very happy birthday. Best known here for his role as Count Karnstein, nemesis to Peter Cushing's Gustav Weil in Hammer's 'Twins Of Evil' (1971)..as vampire fiends are rated, against Cushing's 'vampire hunter' both David Peel in #BridesofDracula and Damien in 'Twins' were a pretty good match, I would say... how about you?

CLASSIC HAMMER FILMS 'SOUNDS TERRIFYING' AND THE SOUNDS OF BIRDSONG FROM PETER CUSHING'S WINDOW!

BIRDS MY WINDOW : Peter Cushing : Whitstable, as noted on the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page today by  Anthony Stuchbury, a page from the RSPB members magazine1974. Sadly, I don't have the whole magazine, just that one little page, since the original founder of the society, Gladys Fletcher gave it to me back in 1978! PC seemed to appear in quite a few nature magazines back then...

WITHOUT DOUBT, these are amazing recordings, of TWO classic Peter Cushing / Christopher Lee Hammer films, 1957 'The Curse of Frankenstein' and the 58 'Dracula /Horror of Dracula'. For some, the best of the Hammer film scores by James Bernard. Both available in a very neat and impressive package. This is a USA release, with gatefold sleeve containing two vinyl LP'S in ghoulish green and blood red! Here is the listing and you'll find the contact details below - Marcus

World Premiere Recordings of the Complete Scores from Two Classic Hammer Films of the 1950s

THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN starred Peter Cushing as Baron Victor Frankenstein and Christopher Lee as The Creature. This outstanding 1957 horror film began a whole series of films starring these two great icons of terror and was one of the best movies from Hammer Productions.

DRACULA, made in 1958, also starred Peter Cushing (as Doctor Van Helsing) and Christopher Lee (as Count Dracula). It is difficult to overestimate the significance of DRACULA as it set the tone for Hammer’s movie output over the next two decades when British horror films were among the most admired and popular films.

DRACULA created international stars out of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. The music for both these films was composed by James Bernard, who created music for many more classic Hammer films including: SHE * THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT * THE DAMNED * DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS * THE DEVIL RIDES OUT * TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA * THE LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES
