#WATCH CUSHING'S 1981 LESSER KNOWN 'BLACK JACK' AND MARKING THE CAREER OF #HAMMERFILMS 'THORLEY WALTERS

THE WOBBLY AND 'INTERESTING' 1981 film "Black Jack" was the last of a quartet of European titles which cast Peter Cushing just he appeared in "Star Wars" in 1977. All these titles virtually disappeared from view after their completed production.. and probably no bad thing... as all were unable to find distribution outside their respective territories. "Batteflag" aka "The Standard," "Return to Munich HS " and "A Touch of the Sun" aka "No Secrets!" all also had something.. besides Cushing... in common, they were all vanity projects for the film makers, holding little appeal elsewhere.

BUT I AM SURE there is someone out there will will be entertained. If you are one of many here though, who have set their task in trying to view every Peter Cushing movie, then you have struck gold, because this is a rare one! For the rest if us, catching Peter and actor Brian Murphy, of UK comedy series 'Man About the House' and 'George and Mildred' might give you some fun. It's uploaded on the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page now!

REMEMBERING THORLEY WALTERS on the date of his passing 6 July 1991.... There can't be many fans of Hammer films or of #PeterCushing or #ChristopherLee, who have never seen actor #ThorleyWalters!

ONCE ONE OF THE Hammer films 'repertory company' of actors, who like Michael Ripper and many others, was a face who connected with some of the best of the studios films over a twenty year period. 'Dracula Prince of Darkness in 1966 with Christopher Lee, Hammer's Phantom of the Opera with Herbert Lom, was Lee's Watson in ' Terence Fisher's Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace both in 1962. 'The Man who Haunted Himself and Vampire Circus in 1970 and The Adventure of #SherlockHolmes' Smarter Brother' in 1975 and The People That time Forgot in 1977.

WALTERS ALSO APPEARED IN some great big screen British comedies and mass of tv drama's including 'Tinker Tailor, Solider, Spy in 1979. Personally, my favorite Walter's performance, was as Dr Herzt with Peter Cushing in #Hammerfilms ' #FrankensteinCreatedWoman' in 1967. It's one thing to play the strange guy possessed by #CountDracula in Dracula Prince of Darkness, it's wacky it's weird and amusing playing an extension on the classic Stoker / Renfield character, but his playing with great emotional clout, a character who shows a quite #touching friendship to Cushing's Baron Frankenstein and displays such care and compassion to #SusanDenberg's Christina, in very little screen time, is quite a skill . . .

EVERYONE HERE, I AM SURE, will have their favorite Thorley Walter's role, they were all gems really, be it with the scamps from #StTrinians or Colonel Bloodstock in #JonPertwee's excellent children's programme #WorzelGummidge, Thorley Walters was ALWAYS able to connect with audiences and left us with a rich and very entertaining cast of performances and roles. Bless you, Thorley

DAVE PROWSE REMEMBERED TODAY ON HIS BIRTHDAY

TODAY we mark and celebrate the birthday of actor, DAVE PROWSE born today July 1st in 1935. What Prowse passing did for many, who knew him for his role as #DarthVader in the Star Wars movies, was raise awareness to a long and impressive career both on screen and off it!

PROWSE worked with #PeterCushing in not only Cushing's last #Hammer #Frankenstein film 'Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell' but also, of course when Prowse first played Vader in ' #StarWars: A New Hope' with Cushing as #GrandMoffTarkin, made them both a very interesting interesting partnership and a part of 'Star Wars' cinema history, like Prowse, that will never be forgotten . .

Remembered today, David Charles Prowse MBE, English #bodybuilder, weightlifter and character actor in British film and television. . .
