ALICE KRIGE AND MICHAEL RIPPER CELEBRATED AND PAINTING ICONS CUSHING AND PRICE

PAINTING ICONS! Two portraits fresh off the brush of Peter and #VincentPrice from artist Butch Curry. Butch has a IMGUR page where he has shared these today, CLICK HERE! He says, 'Peter Cushing, work in progress. Just started today! Because someone asked about it, this one and Vincent are in oil paint. I've gotten pretty quick with it through lots of practice! Because some other folks have asked, sadly no, I don't have a shop to sell prints or anything like that. Sorry!' So any interest, I suggest, dropping a line to his account ðŸ˜Š I think the PC one, even though still a work in progress, is a cracker! Remember, if you have art work, or have spotted one that you think, should be shared, send it along ðŸ˜‰ - Marcus

'I've seen the likes tonight that mortal eyes shouldn't look at!'... say that line of dialogue and any #Hammerfilm fan worth his or her salt, quick as a flash will reply, '#MichaelRipper, as the poacher in 'The Mummy!'.. And it is Michael Ripper who we remember today on the day his passing 28th June 2000.

MICHAEL RIPPER appeared in many productions for Hammer, seven with #PeterCushing, nine with Christopher Lee. Inn keepers, coachmen, police officers, Ripper an accomplished stage and film actor it could be argued is as much part of the Hammer family as Cushing, Lee, Fisher and Francis. #ChristopherLee once announced to a packed convention in #Baltimore, with Ripper standing at his side.. 'This man IS Hammer!' And for many of us, he always will be . .

THERE IS A FULL and image stocked TRIBUTE  today, over at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE. Please go along and check out the thread and maybe add your thoughts on Michael Ripper too?

'LAND OF THE MINOTAUR' aka 'The Devil's People' aka 'The Devil's Men' .. take your pick! A real pickle of production values, but very very nice scenery! Cushing and Donald Pleasence, try to hold the plot together, but it's like watching an am dram cast, trying to have a picnic on a roller-coaster! The score and soundtrack was composed by Brian Eno... File along with the 1974 'Tender Dracula and the 1979 'Touch of the Sun', you think? Come share your thoughts over at the  Facebook PCASUK Fan Page

REQUESTED repost for Simon P in Hereford, UK. I happen to love this snap too. It's the 'Here go again..' expression on #ChristopherLee's face. Mind you, he DOES go out in style in this film. CONAN DOYLE LIGHTER AND SHERLOCK'S PIPES PLUS SOON RARE GALLERY OF BBC 'GASLIGHT' BEHIND SCENES STILLS

A DOUBLE GEM of a #PeterCushing / #SherlockHolmes lot at the Sotheby's Auction back in 1996. 'A GOLD CIGARETTE CASE Inscribed by Sherlock Holmes' creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle .. AND and pipe CLAIMED to have been used by Peter Cushing in his film portrayal of 'Sherlock Holmes', for Hammer films in 1959. This Sherlock Holmes Memorabilia Auction took place on 17th June 1996. As you can see from the publicity photographs, taken at the time of the release of  Hammer films 'Baskervilles' with Cushing, there were MANY pipes, but studying the pics and the film, I don't see the auction pipe! Do you?

PAUL EDDINGTON REMEMBERED TODAY : THE GOOD LIFE YES MINISTER AND HAMMER FILMS

TODAY, at the PCASUK website and facebook fan page, we mark and celebrate the birthday of actor, Paul Eddington born today, 18 June 1927

MANY IN THE UK, will remember Paul for the very popular and cosy BBC TV series 'The Good Life' which first screened back in 1975. Another two BBCTV series 'Yes Minister' (1980–84) and 'Yes, Prime Minister' (1986–88) were for many must watches, as the scriptwriters and cast, often sailed very close to the actual political shenanigans of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her Conservative party at the time.

APPEARING IN SEVERAL, BBC plays and drama's, Paul also worked alongside #PeterCushing, in a 1963 flagship serial drama, 'The Spread Eagle' as Marcus Brutus, Cushing as Caius Cassius, meaty roles with a sizeable budget, playing conspirators in the murder of Julius Caesar

YOU'LL FIND A FULL FEATURE with GALLERY on 'The SPREAD of the EAGLE' at this site : RIGHT HERE!

BACK IN 1968, Paul scored big time with #HammerFilm fans who much enjoyed his supporting role in Hammer Films' The Devil Rides Out (1968) as Richard Eaton, with a supporting cast of #ChristopherLee, #CharlesGray and director, Terence Fisher. 'Spread of Eagle' would be the only time when Eddington and Cushing, worked together, but they remained friends, until Cushing's passing in August 1994.

EDDINGTON, was one of a selection of close friends who attended Cushing's 80th Birthday party, just a year before Cushing passed. Eddington was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, known as mycosis fungoides, when he was 28. The ailment was to cause his death eventually, but in the intervening four decades, Eddington and his immediate family kept his condition private.

IT ONLY BECAME public knowledge in 1994, when Eddington responded to press speculation about his darkening skin and hair loss. He continued to work in theatre and television. Eddington was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 1987 New Year Honours. In January 1995, a memorial service was held in The Actor's Church in Covent Garden, for Peter Cushing, Paul Eddington attended with his wife, along with Christopher Lee, Joanna Lumley, Richard Briers, Ron Moody, Kevin Francis and James Bree. Paul Eddington was, a brave man, with an impressive talent for comedy and drama, and held with much respect and love, by his friends and peers.

PAUL EDDINGTON died in Southwark, London, on 4th November 1995. He and Patricia, his wife of 43 years, had three sons and a daughter. Paul Clark Eddington CBE (18 June 1927 – 4 November 1995), remember today . .
