NEWS: SCREAM FACTORY SETS APRIL 28TH 2020 RELEASE FOR HAMMER / SHAW BROS CUSHING BLU RAY

NEWS: SCREAM FACTORY have announced they are to release HAMMER FILMS 'SHATTER' (1974) starring STUART WHITMAN and PETER CUSHING on BLU RAY! It has a planned RELEASE DATE of APRIL 28TH 2020 is a REGION A release , but no news or details of SPEC or EXTRAS. We'll keep you posted here ;)

FOR THOSE OF YOU who have never come across this one, in the Cushing Filmography, it's an interesting role. It's a GUEST STAR appearance, but a performance that even though brief, gives screen time, to a Cushing relaxed 'turn' that surprisingly boarders at times, to the edge that Cushing gave to his performance of Baron Frankenstein in Hammer's 1969 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed'! 'Shatter' also known as Call Him Mr Shatter and They Call Him Mr Shatter is a 1974 British-Hong Kong action film starring Stuart Whitman, Lung Ti, Lily Li, Anton Diffring and Peter Cushing in his last film for Hammer Studios. It was the second and final international co-production between Hammer Studios of England and Shaw Brothers Studio of Hong Kong as part of the 'Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires' package. The film was shot entirely on location in Hong Kong and was first released in 1974 in UK.

CHRISTOPHER LEE AND PETER CUSHING, Britain’s premier masters of the macabre, bring the Horror of Dracula to vivid, full-color death in this retelling of Bram Stoker’s spellbinding vampire tale. Dracula (Lee), a centuries-old Transylvanian nobleman damned to an eternal half-life, regularly finds new victims. He also finds Dr. Van Helsing (Cushing), a scientist who becomes the Count’s implacable foe in a deadly game of bat-and-mouse. This is the UK version titled “DRACULA”, and featuring footage previously restored by the British Film Institute and Hammer Films. Warner Archive’s new release restores the original color palette of the film, using dye-transfer Technicolor prints as reference, and has been meticulously cleaned of film-related damage for a superior presentation.

TODAY AUGUST 11TH marks the 23rd Anniversary of Peter Cushing's passing. It's an anniversary we mark here every year, but in a style we think Peter Cushing would have probably approved of . . in celebration of his life 🙂 I have three posts for you today, that show some of the diversity of Peter's life . . . please feel free to share any images and comments on the threads below our posts or on the section to the right, called 'Posts by Others' Although for much of his life Peter was a private man, we have learned he was as busy at home, as he was on the screen. He loved music, reading and his many hobbies filled his life, a life for the most part, he lead with good humor...and it's his sense of humor we see in this clip.

A REGULAR GUEST on the Morecambe and Wise Show, where their long running joke about Peter never getting paid for his first appearance back in 1969, always made us laugh. Anytime Peter turned up to try and get his money, Eric and Ernie, tried their best to get rid of him. NEWS: ROGUE ONE BLU RAY CONTENTS REVEALED AND TRAILER! And the line up of the contents sound good too! Can't wait to own this one. What do YOU think of the contents???

THE STAR WARS stand-alone has earned more than $1 billion at the box office. Disney has revealed that Rogue One will hit Digital HD on March 24 and Blu-ray on April 4th. There are a very large helping of bonus features, but a few of the more intriguing ones include "Epilogue: The Story Continues," which is billed as the cast and crew looking forward to the Star Wars tales to come, and "Rogue Connections," which looks at the film's Easter eggs.

AS WE HOPED, there also is a featurette examining the visual effects that went into resurrecting Peter Cushing's Grand Moff Tarkin and brought back a young Princess Leia (The late Carrie Fisher). Rogue One earned more than $1 billion worldwide at the box office, including $528.8 million in the U.S. The second Star Wars stand-alone movie, about a young Han Solo, will be released in May 2018.

NEWS: EDWARDS LET SLIP ON TARKIN RETURN USA TODAY

IN A RECENT INTERVIEW, HAS DIRECTOR GARETH EDWARDS LET SLIP, THAT VADER ISN'T GOING TO BE THE ONLY ONE RETURNING IN DECEMBER'S 'ROGUE ONE : STAR WARS STORY?‘

The British director may have revealed some interesting details of  a surprising return in an interview with USA Today, while discussing the film’s main antagonist, Orson Krennic. He revealed that Krennic, the head of Empire’s advanced weapons research wing, played by actor Ben Mendelsohn, will it seems, clash with the upper echelon’s of the Galactic Empire. “It feels like if the Empire ever have a job vacancy, they go to the Royal Shakespeare Company to headhunt people,” Edwards joked. He’s is of course,referring to the upper-class authority of actors such as, our very own Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin in the original movie.

WHEN EDWARDS WAS ASKED, whether he wanted Mendelsohn to adopt a similarly posh accent, Edwards said: “I like the idea that Ben’s character was much more working-class,” adding that he ascended through the Imperial hierarchy “through sheer force of personality and ideas.”

IT WAS THEN that Edwards potentially, reveals the return of a younger Grand Moff Tarkin . . . .“[Krennic] hits a brick wall in the hierarchy, where they won’t let him in the club and it’s going to turn into a them-or-us situation: either Krennic or Tarkin and the others,“ Edwards says.

REPORTS DATING BACK TO August last year have suggested Tarkin’s return, but no official word has come from the filmmakers or the film’s marketing. Some believe the figure seen from behind in 'Rogue One’s trailer (below) could be Tarkin. The hair and head shape certainly appear to be a match, if it were to be a younger Tarkin, maybe . . . A Mail Online UK newspaper feature back last year, reported that the Cushing - who sadly passed in 1994 - would be brought back to life digitally.

NEWS DRACULA AD 1972 BLU RAY RELEASE AND GIF

NEWS: HAMMER FILMS  #draculaad1972 is set for a JULY 29th 2016 release on BLU RAY in GERMANY as a LIMITED EDITION. It's going to be a Region B release. The BLU RAY will cost just over 37 Euros which is about £32.00, the DVD will cost 17 Euro which is around £15.00.  No news of other extras, except trailer, but it will come will the usual 'languages option'!
