#GIMMETHEGIFWEDNESDAY! THREE FOR THE POT : THE LEES AT HOME : DRACULA HOME AND AWAY

#GIMMETHEGIFWEDNESDAY: THREE REQUESTED GIFS for this week's little collection of 'silent but deadly' gallery. SPENCER WILKINS wrote in to ask if there was any footage of the LEE family, that included his daughter, Christina as a child. We have some footage of Christopher and his wife, Gitta along with Christina, that we were able to make this offering for you? I love the look on Christina's face, just before she plants that big kiss on his cheek.

CHRISTOPHER LEE gets a double dip this week, as this requested #GIF for GALE DAVIS from #DRACULAAD1972, shows the power of the COUNT, didn't just work on females, he could work the Vampire Spin on males too! Christopher Neame as Johnny Alucard has turned the corner of no return, and is from this point on, under the spell and devoted!.....!

AND DRAC IS BACK too in this third GIF, for Daryl Waters. Lee had bowed out of further Dracula appearances for Hammer films, come this final entry in the series, The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires. But Cushing was again returning to the role of Van Helsing, playing probably his most active portrayal, in this all action Kung Fu and Fangs chop about! John Forbes Robertson, fills the shoes, the cloak, but sadly not the role. 

I DO love this shot though. The make up of the Count, was made very much in the style of how the Asian audience would have traditionally seen the Count. What most people think of as a bad day in the make up chair for Robertson, was indeed no mistake. Personally, I think it works. I don't think Lee would have ever agreed to play Dracula, with such stylized make up, but the film was produced in Hong Kong, by the Shaw Brother studios and they were footing the bill! SIR RUN RUN SHAW DIES AT 106.

Legendary media mogul Sir Run Run Shaw has died. He was 106.

Best known in the U.S. for his role as a producer on the Ridley Scott classic Blade Runner, Shaw was instrumental to the development of Chinese cinema, producing dozens of films over the course of decades. He and his brother first started work in cinema in 1926 and became incredibly prolific producers of film and television, particularly of martial arts films. Some of the films that may be recognizable to American audiences include Five Deadly Venoms, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin and The Supreme Swordsman.

In 1974, he jointly produced 'The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires' and 'Call Him Mr Shatter' with Hammer Films, both starring Peter Cushing.  Also that year he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). He received a knighthood in 1977 from Queen Elizabeth II and the Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM) from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government in 1998. In 2007, coinciding with his 100th birthday, Shaw was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, and in 2013, Sir Run Run Shaw received the BAFTA Special Award for his outstanding contribution to cinema.

2899 Runrun Shaw, a small main belt asteroid discovered by Chinese astronomers in 1964, is named after Sir Run Run Shaw. In 2004, he established The Shaw Prize, which he called “The Nobel Prize of the East.” It awards up to $1 million each year in the categories of astronomy, mathematics, life science and medical science.

In 2000, through his company, Shaw Brothers (Hong Kong) Limited, he sold his unique library of 760 classic titles to Celestial Pictures Limited. Celestial is currently restoring the Shaw Brothers’ movies and distributing them to cinemas and the worldwide television and home video markets.

'SHATTER' FILMED IN HONG KONG. WHERE THE ACTION IS APPARENTLY!

Shatter also known as Call Him Mr Shatter and They Call Him Mr Shatter is a 1974 British-Hong Kong action film starring Stuart Whitman, Lung Ti, Lily Li, Anton Diffring and Peter Cushing in his last film for Hammer Studios. It was the second and final international co-production between Hammer Studios of England and Shaw Brothers Studio of Hong Kong. The film was shot entirely on location in Hong Kong and was first released in 1974 in UK.
