GIF GALLERY NUMBER 5 OF CUSHING HAMMER FILMS TOP MOMENTS

HERE'S ANOTHER GALLERY of great moments plucked from some of Peter Cushing's classic films with live links to features and vintage galleries on the film the gif was taken from, at our website.

PETER CUSHING in  full on Errol Flynn mode, swinging across the head of his congregation in Hammer films, 'CAPTAIN CLEGG' aka 'NIGHT CREATURES' (1962)

PETER CUSHING as Gustav Weil gives this Collinson twin the chop, in Hammer films, 'TWINS OF EVIL' (1971)

A FILM FULL of scuffles! Hammer films 'The Evil of Frankenstein' (1964) has Cushing hanging off curtains, swinging on ropes, fighting fires . . never one to shy away from the opportunity to do some swash and buckle, Cushing gives it his all! There's a whole gallery of beautiful colour transparenciesand stills to be found in our feature, if you CLICK right HERE!

A LOOK of exasperation captured beautifully from the BBC series, Sherlock Holmes starring Peter Cushing in the title role and Nigel Stock as Dr Watson. This episode 'THE BLUE CARBUNCLE' is one of the better ones of the few that still survive. Appearing with Cushing in this scene is Australian actress Madge Ryan in the role of Lady Morcar.

ANOTHER FINE SCUFFLE! This time Cushing's Van Helsing wrestles with actress Freda Jackson in her role as Greta in Hammer films, 'THE BRIDES OF DRACULA' (1960)

#ONSETSATURDAY : THE BEAST MUST DIE : ANTON DIFFRING IN THE MAKE UP CHAIR!

#ONSETSATURDAY This week we visit that Amicus favourite, THE BEAST MUST DIE, with a rare shot of ANTON DIFFRING in the make up chair of Paul Rabiger. An interesting film in the Cushing portfolio, is a horror film, a thriller, a who done it??? The answer is probably, it's all three! With it's excellent 'WEREWOLF BREAK' a quite eclectic cast, headed by Peter Cushing, Charles Gray and werewolf hunter, Calvin Lockhart, who sounds like he's just popped over during a tea break from the Royal Shakespeare company's production of 'As You Like it'. It's not one of my favourites, and the music score I find so bad, I have been known to watch the entire film with the volume down. Amicus films, didn't have those memorable scores, like many of the Hammer films, and went down the route of employing Douglas Gamley (1924–1998) to score this one, and many of the portmanteau films. Just my opinion, but I am not a fan.

Mind you, he's not quite as bad as Elisabeth Lutyens ...who scored Dr Terrors House of Horrors. Her avant-garde blackboard scrapings, set me on edge. Maybe, that was what they were meant to do??? What is YOUR favourite AMICUS film score??

FRANKENSTEIN FRIDAY CONNECTION : GIF FEATURES AND VINTAGE LOBBY CARDS

Action Cushing: Baron Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) swinging into action from Hammer's THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN (1964)…. Peter loved doing his own stunts, but he did get scorched while filming this scene…. #FrankensteinFriday

MORE on THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN and it's female co stars KATY WILDE and CARON GARDNER HERE  and VERONICA CARLSON in FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED : HERE

GALLERY AND FEATURE ON  'THE EVIL OF FRANEKNSTEIN ' HERE

FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: A poor ol smouldering Freddie Jones gets gets the 'flaming sheaf of papers' in the face treatment from Peter Cushing's, nastier than usual Baron Frankenstein in Hammer films, knock out 'FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED' (1969) Tis a pity they spend the whole film trying to retrieve these sacred notes, only for the Baron to set fire to them...and then drop and forget them... in the climax of the film!
