#PeterCushing... out and about , doing a little 'Retail Therapy' in town. A common and welcomed sight to the local residents. Especially at this time. Peter woke up one morning, to discover, his right eye was inflamed and the size of a large egg. Unknown to him, it was a year-long fight with cancer. They gave him six to eight months. Peter actually lived on, for another TEN years!
DURING
those ten years, Peter got very busy on tv in chat shows and
interviews, made a feature documentary about his life, another feature
film as Sherlock Holmes, and a comedy film called 'Top Secret' speaking
backwards, in 1984! He was the guest of 'This Is Your Life'. Made a
movie with his four friends #ChristopherLee #VincentPrice and #JohnCarradine
'House of the Long Shadows' ...continued his charity work and wrapped
his last theatrical released film, in 'Biggles' in 1986, before
retiring, but hardly putting his feet up.
HE WAS ALSO awarded an OBE! Peter Wilton Cushing : Tough as old boots and a soul (sole) stronger than a Doctor Martin... - Marcus
Peter's
final days were spent at The Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury. Like all
charities right now, they too are experiencing difficulties. Any
donations are always appreciated. They have a #charitystore in #Whitstable
too. If you have any spare time to help out volunteering, they'd be
very happy for the help! All donations, however small, are gratefully
received. Find them HERE: 2 High St, Whitstable CT5 1AP

Another,
registered charity is The Ralph Bates Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund,
was established in Ralph's name, firstly by his wife Virginia. Ralph was
a good friend to Peter, on and off-screen. Ralph was also very generous
with his time helping people breaking into the industry and was very
kind to pcasuk, giving time for interviews and taking an honorary
membership!. Again, helping raise awareness or donations are always very
gratefully appreciated and received. If you need their help or want to
make a contribution or contact them , here is a LINK and their
location. HERE and here: Bates Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund 317 Old
Bedford Road, LUTON, LU2 7BL England.
