TOMORROW AND TODAY WE WILL REMEMBER

 

TOMORROW is #RemembranceDay here in the UK and and all Commonwealth nations. We will, as we do every year, be marking this day, with #PeterCushing's recording of Peter Kaye's war poem, 'No White Peaks'. After Peter recorded this vinyl release in 1991, as a charity release, it was released again as a more up-tempo arrangement, along with a promo video! 

 

TODAY, here is another chance to see a live TV interview Peter did with the 'This Morning' programme with #Richardandjudy, to help promote the release. It's a pretty neat video, with some interesting candid footage too. I have a 'theory' who the child could be in the video and the location, but not sure.. The 'red smoking jacket' belonged to Peter, and was also worn in 'The House that Dripped Blood' in 1971, and went under the hammer for 2K a few years ago. Peter was held up at the airport AND snarled up in traffic getting to the studio, but they waited for him and he gives such a warm, charming and entertaining chat... a miracle, when one considers, at this time he was very ill... no one except close friends knew... He is on form and just lovely!

DO YOU REMEMBER #THEFIRSTTIME?

#Hammer '#Dracula' LP! 😵 Released back in 1974, I know many of you, Hammer, Cushing, Lee, fans, have copies of this LP, on CD and tape too. It's a big favourite and was our first experience of having Hammer films, Dracula, on tap! Long before we had the luxury of video then dvd / #blu rays. I remember, I got #goosebumps, on my first hearing! 

 

RELEASED first with an impressive gatefold cover, in 1974 to the UK, as a #Quadrophonic recording by EMI! (Above) The US and Canada release also in 1974, was a stereo recording, with a single sleeve, same Dracula AD 1972 cover pic, but the releases didn't have the beautiful glossy photograph of #ChristopherLee as Dracula, from #HammerFilms 'The Satanic Rites of Dracula, tearing his way out of that Hawthorn bush.. just a red cover with bat sketch and listing of album contents...

YEARS LATER, I bought the #PeterCushing 'Legend of the Seven Golden #Vampires' LP, this was of course decades pre internet and finding this was like finding 'rocking horse droppings!' ... which fab too! There was a planned Cushing / #Frankenstein LP too, that sadly, if recorded was never released.... Happy Days! - Marcus

NEWS: A DEAL OF TWO FACES! TWO nice items with #PeterCushing connections, come under the hammer, at the Entertainment Memorabilia Auction, second week of November! Item One is Peter Cushing's Prop 'chopped head' from the 1971 #Amicusfilm 'The House that Dripped Blood'😊 Item Two, is the iconic 'Rel-countdown-clock' from on board the #Daleks spacecraft in Cushing's second #DrWho movie, 'Daleks Invasion Earth 2150 AD'.

OVER AT THE Facebook PCASUK Fan Page, we've shared and put out two of our vintage PCASuk #Halloween banners,for sharing the fun, along with a photograph taken during the rehearsing of a interview we did with Canadian TV show promoting #PeterCushing and the work of the PCASuk website and fan page. Using ZOOM it was a fun interview, with laughs and Peter was well and truly celebrated, for sure! 

 

Many thanks to presenter Tony Ryma, his director and crew, for looking after us and making it so much fun! Here's a pic, of my dog, Ru who in costume, from the beginning, stole hearts AND the whole show! Peter Cushing would have loved it, I am sure . . 😏

HERE IS YESTERDAY'S POST, during our weekly #ChristopherLee Saturday! As a young child, according to Christopher Lee, his daughter Christina often asked him questions about what he did during the day, what he did as a job. When she was around eight/ten years old, and old enough to know he appeared in Hammer films 'horrors', and when she knew he was about to begin work on a new Hammer film, her first question to her Dad would be, 'Do you die in this one too?' #PETERCUSHING IN 1980 : WHAT DIDN'T CHANGE AFTER #STARWARS!

I HAVE OFTEN THOUGHT, that #PeterCushing never did truly understand or believe the influence and currency of his work and indeed, his work with Hammer and Amicus films.. In the year of this interview, 1980, Cushing wrapped the year with not only, an impressive performance in 'A Tale of Two Cities', but ironically one last role for #Hammerfilms. 'The Hammer House of Horror' tv series, gave him the opportunity to play the sinister pet shop owner, Martin Blueck in 'Silent Scream' with a young Brian Cox. This episode was directed by Alan Gibson, who worked with Peter in Dracula AD 1972, Satanic Rites of Dracula and Helen Keller: The Miracle Continues later in 1984.
