MEATLOAF AND #ROCKYHORROR AT BRAY : TELLY SAVALAS CENTENARY #100

THE SAD NEWS of the passing of rock icon and actor, #Meatloaf today, I feel we can't let go by without paying a nod of tribute to a singer and actor who also had a driving role of #Eddie in the #RichardOBrien movie, 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'... which when filmed in 1974, was shot on the very grounds, interiors and remaining lots of #Hammerfilms home, #BrayStudios... the very place where #PeterCushing and #ChristoperLee made their first box office smashes of 'The Curse of Frankenstein' 'Dracula' 'The Mummy' and more.

Meat Loaf was born Marvin Lee Aday in Dallas, Texas, to Wilma Artie (Hukel), a teacher and gospel singer, and Orvis Wesley Aday, a police officer. He moved to Los Angeles in 1967 to play in local bands. In 1970, he moved to New York and appeared in the Broadway musicals "Hair", "Rockabye Hamlet" and "The Rocky Horror Show," and Off Broadway in "Rainbow", "More Than You Deserve", "National Lampoon Show" and the New York Shakespeare Festival's production of "As You Like it;" as well as other productions at the famed New York Public Theatre. He made his film debut with a memorable role in the cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).

In 1977, he and lyricist Jim Steinman released an operatic rock album called "Bat Out Of Hell"; the record was huge and has sold 50,000,000 copies worldwide and is tied with AC/DC for the 2nd best selling record of all time. The tour and promoting the album took a toll on Meat Loaf's voice and left him unable to sing for 2 years, but with months of rehabilitation, he was able to get back in the studio and record the album "Dead Ringer". Meat Loaf stayed in the dark through the 1980s in the US, recording 4 records which got very little airplay or high chart positions in the US but continued to have major chart success in Europe and Australia . Meat Loaf had many film roles, such as the lead character Travis Redfish in Roadie (1980); a pilot in Out of Bounds (1986); in The Squeeze (1987) with Michael Keaton; and Fred in Focus (2001) (based on the Authur Miller book by the same name), with Laura Dern and William H. Macy.

When Meat Loaf and Steinman got back together in 1993, they delivered a powerful sequel "Bat Out Of Hell II" which went to #1 in the US and UK and 26 other countries. Bat II has now sold over 22,000,000 copies.

Who Loves Ya Baby?...Today we remember the birthday of the late #TellySavalas, who would have been 100 today!

A MUCH LOVED and larger than life man, on and off the screen. His #PeterCushing connection is his rip roaring performance as the Cossack, Captain Kazan in the 'run-away-train-with-a-monster-and-zombies-onboard' epic from 1972, '#HorrorExpress'. It's a film that never stops going up gears through out it's tense 90 mins. When Savalas appears, almost an hour in, it really is full steam ahead! Along with Cushing and Lee, he makes the film a whole lot of fun.

MANY OF US remember Savalas as the lolly sucking cop in the excellent tv show, '#Kojak' and his quick to catch on catch phrase, 'Who Loves Ya Baby?'…… Who loves ya Telly? Why we do and always will... A HAPPY CENTENARY TELLY!

STUNTMAN AND FIGHT CO ORDINATOR JOE DUNNE DIES

SAD NEWS INDEED, the passing of Joe Dunne, at his home in the US yesterday. Dunne was stuntman supremo for decades, he also worked as a stunt coordinator, stunt double, stunt driver, second unit director and an actor.

PINK PANTHER STUNTS, with STUNTMEN! A great collection of 'gags' many here arranged and performed by Joe Dunne along with Dick Crockett, John Sullivan and Greg Powell for 8 Pink Panther movies from 1963 to 1993.

DUNNE for many years was co ordinator and stuntman for #PeterSellers in the #PinkPanther films. Whether he was flying through the air in single combat against '#Kato' in the Pink Panthers or walking the gang plank in Ghost in the Noonday Sun, Joe was always by the side of his friend, Peter Sellers.

DUNNE worked as a stuntman on #Hammerfilms 'The Curse of the Werewolf' and was stuntman and coordinator on Hammer / #PeterCushing's '#TwinsofEvil' (1971) .. uncredited. I am kind of sure, it was Dunne that was flipped over the landing, to the stone stairs in 'Twins'.. but as was Peter's want, he LOVED stunts, it was Peter who bumped down the stairs! Joe's film credits are long and epic, from James Bond to many full action thrillers. Dunne also worked on many of UK tv series such as , '#TheAvengers' which included Peter Cushing's , 'The Return of the Cybernauts' in 1967 in which he was stunt double for Frederick Jaeger , who played ‘Benson’ in the episode. One of the stunt co-ordinators for the original series, #JoeDunne was, amongst many other things, tossed down 365 stairs in the episode "All Done with Mirrors"!!

His work on 'The Usual Suspects' (1995), Ronin (1998) and 'The Jackal' (1997) #MarsAttacks (1996) cemented his legacy in the #StuntMenHallofFame. #Joe Dunne's last job as co-ordinator on Doom in 2005. A role and job for only the fearless! Joe Dunne is remembered here today - Marcus
