TODAY on the day of her birth, we mark the birthday of British actress and model, #SueLloyd. Lloyd starred along with #PeterCushing in the 60's cult murky masterpiece, '#Corruption' which incidentally gets its UK blu ray premiere this month, from #Indicator

 

Susan Margery Jeaffreson Lloyd (7 August 1939 – 20 October 2011) was an English model and actress, with numerous film and television credits. She may be best known for her long-running role (1979 to 1985) as Barbara Hunter, née Brady, in the British soap opera #Crossroads and Cordelia Winfield in the #ITC series #TheBaron. She made her film debut in two espionage-themed films released in 1965. Lloyd was a foil to #MichaelCaine's #HarryPalmer in the spy thriller #TheIpcressFile. In the same year, Lloyd played the regular role of secret agent Cordelia Winfield, alongside Steve Forrest in the 1965–1966 British ITC television series The Baron. 

 

HAVING APPEARED in the TV series (episode "A Surfeit of H2O"), in 1971, Lloyd starred in a stage version of the TV series #TheAvengers playing John Steed's sidekick Mrs Hannah Wild. She appeared with several other stars in the 1976 imitation James Bond film No. 1 of the Secret Service.She made many guest appearances in several popular shows of the 1960s and 1970s, including #TheSaint, #DepartmentS, #JasonKing, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), #ThePersuaders! and #TheSweeney. 

 

HER OTHER FILM credits include 'Corruption', 'Revenge of the Pink Panther' 'The Stud' and 'The Bitch'. On her Twitter page, Joan Collins said that she and Lloyd had to get drunk before their nude scenes. She reunited with Michael Caine in Bullet to Beijing (1995), one of the later Harry Palmer films, credited as 'Jean', although she did not appear on-screen, her role being confined to a voice-over in a telephone conversation with Caine's character.

 

LLOYD JOINED the long-running British soap opera Crossroads in 1979. She played Barbara Hunter until she and her on- and off-screen partner Ronald Allen were dropped from the series in 1985. Sue Lloyd died on 20 October 2011, aged 72. Today, we remember her and her career.. and that quite unforgettable performance with Cushing, in 'Corruption' . ..

Cushing certainly seems to be enjoying himself, as he and co star #RoyCastle break into some song and dance. It's great seeing Peter Cushing so relaxed.

PLEASE JOIN US in wishing DAVID WARNER a Very Happy Birthday Today! Warner's #PeterCushing connection is the role of Edward Charlton (segment 1 "The Gate Crasher") in #Amicusfilms 'From Beyond The Grave' in 1974. A great story, a fine performance...particularly enjoyed his play with Cushing in the Temptations Ltd store... but what a sticky end!

 

 

WARNER'S breakthrough role on screen was his lead performance in the Karel Reisz film 'Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment', for which he was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. 

 

'I know some actors take acting terribly seriously. I take it seriously in that, if someone pays me to do it, I know I have to deliver!There were certain young actors I had trained with at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art who had always got the big parts and I was always the spear-carrier. Suddenly the roles were reversed and I couldn't understand why, and nor could they': David Warner

 

WARNER HAS ALWAYS BEEN QUITE A DIVERSE actor, who has portrayed both romantic leads and villainous characters across a range of films, including The Ballad of Cable Hogue, #StrawDogs, Cross of Iron, #TheOmen, #Holocaust, The Thirty Nine Steps, Time After Time, #TimeBandits, #Tron, A Christmas Carol, Portrait in Evil and let's not for get Spicer Lovejoy in the 1997 #Titanic, for which he was nominated – Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

 

WARNER HAS ALSO DRAWN quite the following for his performances in '#StarTrek The Final Frontier', then as #Gorkon the chancellor of the Klingon High Council in 'Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country' and as Gul Madred in the 'Star Trek The Next Generation' episodes "Chain of Command Pt. I & Pt. II"
