HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MADELINE SMITH HAMMER FILMS SCREAM QUEEN AND MUCH MORE!

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: PLEASE JOIN US IN WISHING MADELEINE SMITH a Very Happy Birthday today! She best known for her roles in three films for Hammer, Taste The Blood of Dracula (1970), The Vampire Lovers (1970) and Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (1974).

FEATURED IN OUR BANNER is what is probably one of her best performances as Sarah (The Angel) in Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell co-starring Peter Cushing, and Shane Briant. Mind you, she was pretty good in the UK tv series, The Steam Video Company in the early 1980’s. She has a very good sense of humour and timing too!

LEGENDARY CARTOONIST ARTIST AND ILLUSTRATOR JACK DAVIS DIES AGED 91

LEGENDARY CARTOONIST and EC comics artist JACK DAVIS died today. Davis stories from the VAULT OF HORROR comic, Drawn and Quartered and Bargain In Death were adapted for the Amicus film, Vault of Horror.

AS WELL AS his contribution to the US MAD magazine, he was responsible for drawing and designing the US poster for the Subotsky / Rosenberg Vulcan film, 'Horror Hotel / City of the Dead'.

DAVIS also contributed the ONE great thing about the Sammy Davis Jr film, 'One More Time, which guest starred both Cushing and Lee... he drew the cinema poster! Prolific, a role model and mentor to many cartoonist and artist today, rest in peace and take a rest, Jack. You earned it!

IN REMEMBRANCE OF HELEN CUSHING BORN TODAY 1905

Today marks what would have been a very significant birthday in the life of Peter Cushing...the birthdate of his wife, Helen. Peter never forgot to mark anniversaries or special days with Helen, often making her beautiful greetings cards, notes and..of course the silk scarves. He never forgot her birthday, and neither shall we... so, in remembrance, Happy Birthday Helen.

HAJIME ISHIDA'S 'MONSTERZINE' ISSUE TWO'

Hajime 'Mr Monster' Ishida is on a roll! No sooner have we enjoyed the release of his Hammer 'Dracula' issue, here comes the next one on our hall mat this morning! This issue is a special on, yes you've guessed it, 'Dracula AD 1972'. Despite the mauling this film has received over the years, it just won't go away. And as we love it, we were happy to see the cover. And the inside of the mag, lives up to the cover promise.
