DAVID MCCALLUM 1933 - 2023

THE VERY SAD NEWS of the passing of actor #David McCallum today. In 1958, McCallum, appeared in his 7th movie, with #PeterCushing, called 'Violent Playground' playing the unsettled 'James Dean-style' 'youth' Johnnie Murphy. Along with a very young Melvyn Hayes and Freddie Starr, the film was a springboard for young talent and is seen today as one of a few 'Blackboard Jungle' spin offs and a very interesting reflection of post-war Briton. The emergence of restless 'Teenagers, Rock and Roll' wobble, put an older generation in a panic. Cushing played Father Laidlaw, the Catholic Priest, alongside Stanley Baker's Detective Sergeant Jack Trumanolic.
