Saturday! For those old enough to remember, a tv show, originally
devised in the US back 1952 by RalphEdwards, which eventually floated to
the UK shores, in 1955 presented by Irish charmer, #EamonnAndrews,
'This Is Your Life' was a weekly treat. The fun was guessing what poor
soul was about to get the shock of having his or her life, draped out
for all and sundry to gorp at! In 1954, poor Oliver Hardy and Stan
Laurel was in such shock when they were kidnapped and sat stunned for 50
mins, while ex wives were dodged, and them having to smile, embrace and
let bygones be bygones, was ever present.
THE ONLY TIME I have ever witnessed #BorisKarloff
in a state of REAL fear, was when he too was jumped on, then dragged to
set of the live broadcast. Here was an institution, a much loved actor,
with a wonderful career and...personal life.. and wives... that, at
that time, no one really knew about! Poor Boris, had been sat in a
rehearsal, reading a newspaper, not aware of a camera crew hidden...
Next moment, he was sweating conkers, waiting to see if anyone of five
previous wives, might turn up!
THANKFULLY,
when Christopher Lee made his appearance, it was a pleasant surprise..
and here is THAT moment captured in a few candid stills from April 3rd
1974.
THE FRIENDS who turned up were impressive, wife Gitte and daughter Christina looked beautiful and proud as.... #VeronicaCarlson, #PeterCushing, #TrevorHoward, #VincentPrice, #CharltonHeston. #JoannaLumley, #OliverReed#SammyDavisJr...
all did their bit, showed the love and made a good show, a GREAT show!
The highlight for me though, was indeed his look of shock, when, Eamonn
appeared, waved that big red book and announced, 'Christopher Lee. 'This
IS your Life'. Through the show, you couldn't help but notice just how
humbled Lee was, seeing so many friends and so honestly praise him

Peter Cushing! Peter Wilton Cushing OBE born today May 26th 1913, in
the town of Kenley, UK 😊 For those who join us, for the first time today, you will find almost 12 years of posts, photographs, features, interviews, #competitions and much more within our almost daily posts!
PETER CUSHING had a full and varied career, from theatre, to film in #Hollywood,
to radio and a very successful career in television. Peter Cushing is
maybe best known for his roles with the British horror and fantasy
studios #Hammer
and Amicus films, during the 50's 60's and 70's. In his career, he was
fortunate to have the opportunity the make his mark and play some great
and iconic roles, Baron Victor #Frankenstein, #VanHelsing in Hammer's #Dracula productions, the role of #SherlockHolmes on the big screen AND television. He also appeared in two feature film as #DrWho, fighting the legendary #Daleks.
IN THE MID #70's when nearing retirement, Peter Cushing played the role of #GrandMoffTarkin in '#StarWars:
A New Hope' (1977). Spanning over six decades, his acting career
included appearances in more than 90 films. Today we mark his birthday,
every day we celebrate his enormous talent and life! Help us celebrate

SEVERAL THINGS, to #CELEBRATE today and prep for, tomorrow! FIRST, it's hard to believe, that it's 45 years, since I stood in a looong queue, with my good friend, Stuart, umbrella flapping in the wind and rain, waiting to get entrance, into our local flea pit, to watch a cinematic event, that would change our perspective of films, SFX and would drain our pocket money for the next few weeks! We went along to see the film, several times, during the month, it was held over at our cinema, bought ANY magazine that carried a feature or pics. '#StarWars:ANEWHOPE' would be an event that we would never forget, with only the possible exception of #ROGUEONE did that feeling ever re-ignite, for any of the many sequels or prequels. It was and still very much is, a game changer indeed!
A HEADS UP! Tomorrow marks the 125th anniversary of the publishing of Bram Stoker's novel #DRACULA! ... quite by coincidence, tomorrow we mark, a VERY important birthday too.....
LOTS OF INTEREST in the career of this gentleman, over at the Facebook PCASuk Fan Page, today as we mark and celebrate the birthday of actor, and SO MUCHnMORE, #MilesMalleson! So, touching to see, so many of you very affectionately remember his roles with #PeterCushing and #ChristopherLee, but also a whole career of other roles in some classic films.
IF YOU HAVE EVER watched a British comedy film or a Hammer horror, chances
are you’ll have come across this cherubic king of the two-minute cameo.
He is never the star, though he appeared in nearly a hundred films. He
leaves all the hard work to Peter Cushing or Peter Sellers and then,
usually about half an hour in, he comes on, steals the show, and goes
again! In some ways, but in fewer Hammer films, much like #MichaelRipper,
Miles Malleson is face all lovers of Hammer films spot and know right
away!
DRACULA (1958) 'Hound of the Baskervilles' (1959) 'The Brides of Dracula'
(1960) ... all quiet priceless characters, entertaining. You will find a
link to Matthew Coniam's excellent feature on Malleson's life and
career. Miles had quite a full life off screen and played other very
entertaining roles in some classic Ealing films and British cinema . Remembered here today, Miles Malleson born today, May 25th 1888 - March 15th 1969.
