GIFS FROM FEAR IN THE NIGHT : GEESON AND CUSHING

#toocooltuesday Hammer films, Fear in the Night is probably the best of the bunch in which Peter Cushing'as role in screen-time is really little more than a guest spot with Cushing working a mere four day's filming for a £1,000 in 1971.

Cushing is worth every penny, Judy Geeson is great, Ralph Bates is terrifying...and Joan Collins does what she does best...you can fill in the gap here! It's a tight little thriller that has all of it's tiny budget of £114,000 up on the screen...

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY : PETER CUSHING / ALICE KRIGE : A TALE OF TWO CITIES

#‎TOOCOOLTUESDAY‬: ONCE IN A WHILE, I post something, that I REALLY hope everyone will see or watch..and this clip is one of those post. If Peter Cushing as poor ol Arthur Grimsdyke in Tales from the Crypt, made you weep...this is sure to touch you.

ABOVE is a short scene from the 1980 film, A Tale of Two Cities, an all star cast, with Peter and Alice Krige playing the father and daughter, Manette... if this doesn't set your bottom lip a quiver, you had better check you still have a pulse. It's cool. Too cool! Let me know what you think....

DR KNOX COMES A KNOCKING : ITS MONDAY!

THIS WEEK'S CANDIDATE for the ‪#‎monstermonday‬ crown is, infamous Scottish anatomist, zoologist, ethnologist and..surgeon, DR ROBERT KNOX. Peter Cushing played Knox to wonderful effect in the 1960, John Gilling film, 'Flesh and the Fiends' aka 'Mania'. He was very well supported by both Donald Pleasence and George Rose as the grave robbers and body snatchers, Burke and Hare.
'FLESH' is one of those rare jewels in the Cushing filmography, missed by many but is certainly worth catching, if you have not seen it. Gritty, grimy, squalid and a bit of a shocker for it's time... Cushing holds the emotive balance in his performance extremely well...right up the closing credits..that one is never really quite sure, if Knox was indeed the real MONSTER of the piece, after all... what do you think???

#SHERLOCKSUNDAY : THE CASE OF THE SABOTAGED DANCING MEN EPISODE

#SHERLOCKSUNDAY Here's a little tale, a story, a case that would puzzled the great #SHERLOCKHOLMES himself maybe. THE CASE OF THE SABOTAGED EPISODE, concerns the events that unfolded live before the British television viewing public on the night of MONDAY 16th SEPTEMBER 1968. When the unsuspecting viewers settled down to watch the latest episode of the BBC's 'SHERLOCK HOLMES' series, starring Peter Cushing as Holmes and Nigel Stock as Dr Watson. Back in 1968, this series was not only the BBC's first Sherlock outing in colour, but it was afforded the luxury of being broadcast on an early form of video tape. Any outdoor location work, was shot on film and inserted, edited into the finished EDITED video programme.

AT THE POINT of completion, each programme existed in two forms, an edited version, with all studio sequences edited in order, just as you would see in an broadcast at home. The other version would be what is known as B ROLL footage, this consists of the entire recorded programme in a very rough form, with sometimes many recordings of the same scene, complete with mistakes, outakes and errors. OUR STORY BEGINS....

His career spanned other genres, including film noir, drama, mystery, thriller, and comedy. He appeared on stage, television, radio, and in over one hundred films.... a good friend of both Peter and Christopher, though only appeared on screen with them BOTH just the once, in 'The House of the Long Shadows' in 1983.

REMEMBERING CHRISTOPHER LEE : HAPPY BIRTHDAY

HERE IS THE FIRST of two main posts today for TWO splendid gentlemen, who by a strange quirk of fate, SHARED their birthday's today, 27th May.

SADLY, neither are no longer with us... Christopher Lee and Vincent Price. Lee's passing was almost a year ago, June 7th last year. A sad loss even at his age...we just didn't want him to go. A close friend of Peter Cushing's, celebrated and remembered here, almost as much as Peter. He had a career that stretched across almost every genre in the industry. His accomplishments were many, his skill as an actor even as he grew frail, never left him... and neither did we.

SO TODAY, RAISE A GLASS of whatever is handy, Sir Christopher Lee we STILL salute you and remember you as a gentleman, a scholar and a towering talent, never to be replaced on the screen and in the hearts of many... a very HAPPY  BIRTHDAY today!

I DON'T CARE IF HE'S GOD!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY PETER CUSHING : ANOTHER LAST MEETING CLIP

OUR SECOND RARE clip today from 'THE LAST MEETING' raw footage of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee meeting for the last time in 1994. Here, Christopher Lee shares the story of how he and Peter were doing the rounds of interviews and promotion for Dracula in 1958 in New York, and the larger than life radio presenter 'Long John' Nebel, giving Hammer films Chairman, James Carreras a piece of advice! Christopher Lee obviously again enjoys making Peter laugh. Just watching them both, so candid and relaxed, Peter obviously loves Lee's stories. It so good to see them both enjoying each others company, for one last time....

This is one of EIGHT clips, in an archive to which we are currently adding new clips. You can find all eight here in our Facebook video library or at our Youtube Channel. ENJOY!
