SHE BEHIND THE SCENES FILM : COMPETITION NEWS : HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHANE!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY! It's the beginning of 1965 and early publicity photographs are being sent out to editors of newspapers and magazines to drum up interest for the arrival of #UrsulaAndress in #Hammefilms most expensive feature film to date '#SHE' ...BUT they are keeping the actual appearance of the actress who was once called 'the most beautiful woman in the world', under wraps . . . SO instead here is co star John Richardson and Rosenda Monteros, a top of that always 1960's iconic photo-popper..an open top sports car. #PeterCushng has been busy doing dubbing for the completion of Amicus films, 'Dr Terrors House of Horrors' having started shooting for SHE and Hammer in the sweltering Israel's Negev Desert from 24 August 1964. This shot was snapped at Elstree studios . . . .

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY : The audio is BAD in this cinema short about the making of, what was a the time, #Hammerfilms most expensive feature, #SHE'. Any vintage behind the scenes footage of #PeterCushing is a plus, even when it sounds as awful as this. I am posting this today as pointer to our NEXT PCAS Competition, which will be launch THIS SUNDAY 20th AUGUST 2017. It's a chance to win a SIGNED / AUTOGRAPHED photo of Peter Cushing in the role of Major Holly, the role he played in Hammer's 'SHE' back in 1965. Watch our YOUTUBE Channel, this website, twitter and our Facebook Fan Page for details...in the meantime, turn down the volume and enjoy!

PLEASE JOIN US in wishing SHANE BRIANT a very Happy Birthday Today! Shane's Cushing connection is of course his role as the young Dr. Simon Helder in Hammer film's, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974), with Peter Cushing, Madleine Smith and Dave Prowse. Cushing's last Frankenstein and director Terence Fishers last film, he also appeared in several other Hammer films Straight On Til Morning, Demons Of The Mind, and Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter.

ORDER YOUR PROFESSOR MODEL KIT : ON SET CANDID BARON SHOT AND THE ZOO GANG

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: An actors life is full of variety, IF they get the work and opportunities. Peter Cushing swapped the grim and gruesome settings of the Asylum hospital during the making of his last appearance as the Baron, in Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, for the sun and glamor of Cannes, in the South of France, when he made 'The Counterfeit Trap' an episode of tv's 'The Zoo Gang' in 1974.

FROM HIS 'Helen Hayes' wig, to this dashing blazer, tie and tan, that's quite a jump! The Zoo Gang was a great but short lived series, that was part of Lord Grade's ITC company, that also made quite a few other tv series that Peter appeared in in the 70's...anyone here seen it or remember this episode?? The Counterfeit Trap was first Broadcast in the UK on 3rd May 1974 and was 5th episode of the short lived series . . .

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: Just received these images, which I have made into a banner for you to sample. It's the amazing 'The Professor' Model Kit, from the people who produce the Cushinques, comic book, #THEPROFESSOR in Italy. This figure is one of a VERY LIMITED EDITION of just 50! ACTOR ROBERT HARDY DIES 91

Very Sad News, that the actor Robert Hardy has died at Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors in the outskirts of London. Hardy was 91. An institution on UK TV for his performance as Siegfried in the long running drama series 'All Creatures Great and Small', various drama serials on the life of Sir Winston Churchill . .. he appeared in the huge 'Spread of the Eagle' historical drama with Peter Cushing for the BBC in 1963. He made 'Demons of The Mind' (1972) for Hammer Films with Shane Briant. His appearance in Granada tv's Sherlock Holmes episode, The Master Blackmailer, with Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke, was a triumph! He recently appeared as Cornelius Fudge in the Harry Potter franchise , and who could ever forget his appearnace in the M R James, Christmas BBC Ghost Story?? But it was with Christopher Lee that he had a long friendship along with Patrick MacNee. He appeared with Lee in 'Dark Places' and the very good though sadly neglected 'A Feast at Midnight'....A long life and very full career, still sad to see him leave us though. . .

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: A GLASS OF WATER AND A BOWL!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: This year marks the 60th anniversary of the release of Hammer films The Curse of Frankenstein, starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. The first of the whole Hammer saga which featured Peter Cushing in six epics about the Baron. 60 years old, and still as popular as ever, it still very much ALIVE! Enjoy this classic clip where Baron Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) sees his 'creation' alive for the first time!!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: It's FORTY THREE YEARS since Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell was released in the US. There was a delay of several years before Cushing / Hammer fans got to see the last of the Cushing Hammer series... and even then, the censors cut it to ribbons. Here is one of the scenes, that got the censors knife... ironically! All I will say is give me a 'Glass of Water And A Basin......! Enjoy this resurrected clip!

THE LAST FOUR DAYS AT OUR FACEBOOK FAN PAGE

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: March 9th 1976 . . . Unbelievably, it's 41 YEARS, that's 14983 Days Today... since Peter Cushing started his four days work at Elstree studios playing the role of Grand Moff Tarkin in 'Star Wars'. Here's a very nest snap of Peter between takes with Don Henderson on the left and Dave Prowse as Darth Vader, standing... er, where else but, behind!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: The TWO Peter Cushing Dr Who Dalek films were produced in the mid sixties, 1965 and 66. But what if Milton Subotsky and AARU Productions, hadn't stopped at TWO films and produced more with Peter Cushing?? That’s the premise talented artist Dave Burgess has explored with artwork such as this excellent piece featuring Christopher Lee too in Dr. Who and the Dalek Masterplan! Dave has a portfolio: DR. WHO | MOVIE ARTWORK and much else here besides. Worth a look.

 TWO SMASHING GIFS FOR FRIDAY!

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: Beauty is THE killer! Christina (Susan Denberg) goes in for the kill from Frankenstein Created Woman (1967)

#FRANKENSTEINFRIDAY: Baron Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) issuing a stern warning to Dr Helder (Shane Briant) from Hammer's Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell (1974)

TWO POSTS YESTERDAY  for our weekly dip into the
 #HAMMERFILM archive!

HERE'S AN IMAGE, I had not come across as a publicity still before, until a few days ago! #HAMMERFILMSSATURDAY: Here is a great action shot of Peter Cushing as Van Helsing about to drive the spade into Count Dracula from Hammer's Dracula AD 1972. Ouch!

NOBODY EVER QUIET stalked the way, Christopher Lee stalked in the role of #COUNTDRACULA. Here he is in his first outing as #DRACULA in Hammer films 1958, 'Dracula' / 'Horror of Dracula' with Carol Marsh awaiting her, 'Terrifying Lover who died, YET lived' !!!

#GETTHECUSHIONITSCUSHING! A beautiful and rare publicity photograph of Peter Cushing as Dr Lawrence from 'The Ghoul' (1975) Kneeling at the altar, the photograph that Cushing is holding, is actually a photograph of his late wife, Helen. As I am sure regular visitors to this page know, the pic was included in the film, by special request from Peter... in order that he could fulfill his wish, of having appeared in a motion picture with his wife...

#GETTHECUSHIONITSCUSHING! A fine film from Amicus, that needs some reassessing...and blu ray would be nice too! Christopher Lee as Dr Marlow and Mr Blake in Milton Subotsky's character name twisting tale of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde....I MONSTER (1971)
