REMEMBERING: Anthony Nelson Keys, Born today November 13th 1911, sadly
no longer with us. Worked as producer on many Hammer films and some of
Peter Cushing's best work for the company. He started work at Hammer
back in 1947, wrapping in 1969, with Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, for
which he also received a writer credit. A much loved character on and
off the set, with ready smile and a joke. See how many photographs you
can find without Nelson Keys laughing or kidding with the
photographer..!

FREE COLOUR DRACULA CONTACT SHEET : CUSHING COLLECTABLE WEDNESDAY!
THIS WEEKS and our FIRST Collectable is a contact sheet of press stills from #hammerfilms
Dracula Has Risen From The Grave (1968) The shots were taken during
shooting the 'Dracula's hide out' which were shot on sets at Pinewood
Studios. Featured the shots are Christopher
Lee appearing in his third Dracula film for the studio. Also actress
Barbara Ewing as barmaid Zena and Veronica Carlson as Maria. This scene
marks the seducation and 'biting' of Ewing's Zena. The film was
directed by Freddie Francis. #dracula #hammerfilms #christopherlee
WHAT ARE MOVIE CONTACT SHEETS? : Back in the ‘classic’ movie days, still photography went hand-in-hand with film making, to the point that photo negatives were just as important as the reel of the film being produced. Publicity shots made the film and its stars eternally shine. Photographers had to show a keen flattering eye for capturing the stars of the film, as the public’s perception, and success of the film, heavily depended on them. From a sheet containing maybe eight to ten exposures, the press office would choose maybe just one or two, which would be published and exhibited. The rest of the poses and pics would never see the light of day or be unpublished. THAT is what makes contacts rare and valuable. It’s sad to say that many contact sheets were trashed after the movie released or had public run. Most of these contact sheets have survived, because someone dug it out of the trash.”

TODAY is the first of our new weekly themed day here at facebook and our PCAS website. #CUSHINGCOLLECTORSWEDNESDAY!
Each each week we'll be giving away rare stills, contact sheets from
the press offices of the past and other visual goodies for the digital
image collectors among you to add to your collections. Not every goody
will be Cushing related, some will be, as in this case something from
the Hammer or Amicus films archive. But all will be certainly worth
having, individually un-watermarked and even if you don't collect...these can be printed off as photographs or large posters.
SO, THIS WEEK we start with TEN colour images still as originally
processed by the Hammer films Warner Brothers press office. These images
taken by studio stills photographer. They have not been clean or
edited. They are in their original state and are YOURS 😉 Feel free to right click, save and copy.

#TOOCOOLTUESDAY: CHRISTOPHER LEES MEDALS GO UNDER THE HAMMER AND ITS FREDDIES 90TH!
NEWS:
Sir Christopher Lee's awards, including WW2 medals, will go on sale
for as little as £100! Here's a feature from a UK newspaper
TODAY. What do you think?? 'The widow of Sir Christopher Lee is to sell
the honours he amassed during his lifetime, from wartime medals to film
accolades and the badge he received upon being knighted.
Around 50 awards will go under the hammer, representing
a remarkable screen career that took Sir Christopher from Hammer Horror
to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and a role as one of the great Bond
villains, Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun. The actor died in
June 2015, aged 93. In interviews he was reticent about his war record,
but he kept a certificate recording the fact that he was mentioned in
dispatches in 1944. It will be offered for auction alongside his
campaign medals.
Christopher Lee , Peter Cushing, and Veronica Carlson with the cast of Hammer films, 'Dracula Has Risen From The Grave' being presented with the Queen's Award for Industry at Pinewood studios.
The
lots include the British Film Institute Fellowship Award presented by
Johnny Depp in 2013 (estimated to fetch £2,000-£3,000) and the Knight
Bachelor badge bestowed by the Prince of Wales when Sir Christopher was
knighted in 2009. The star's Bafta Fellowship is the one award that will
remain with the family. They will be offered with no reserves,
allowing fans the opportunity to acquire a piece of memorabilia for a
relatively modest price. The evening auction will take place at Spink's
in London on November 1. Lady Lee said: "Christopher was greatly
appreciative of the recognition of his fans and his peers, and these
honours and awards adorned our apartment for many years, bringing him
great pleasure. "It's fitting that now a wider audience might have the
opportunity to enjoy them, and to celebrate so many high points of his
life.
Christopher Lee was awarded the BAFTA FELLOWSHIP in 2011
"These
awards represent a lifetime of dedicated work and diverse experiences,
starting with his role as a young RAF officer in the Second World War, a
period that went on to influence him throughout his life. "He
remains sorely missed but his family hope that the forthcoming auction
will be a celebration of his life and achievements, and a catalyst for
future owners of his awards to have many happy memories of their own."
Bestowed by Prince Charles, he became Sir Christopheri Lee Knighted in 2009
A percentage of the sale proceeds will be donated to Denville Hall in north London, a retirement home for actors.
Please join us in wishing #Happybirthday to the one and only Freddie Jones, who is the grand age of 90 TODAY! Freddie is an actor who is always a joy to watch. Always surprising and entertaining. His voice and delivery are unique,
as is, his style and the line he follows in all his performances. Never
the obvious, always the unpredictable path. There are have been many
highs in the Freddie Jones career, but for us here today, we focus on
his roles where working with Peter Cushing, brought us EXTRA value and entertainment.
As the wrecked and manipulated,
Professor Julian Keeley in Hammer films, 'The Satanic Rites of Dracula'
in 1973, to the pathetic and trapped Professor Richter in 'Frankenstein
Must Be Destroyed' in 1969.
Freddie Jones still works, as busy as
ever...some would say wasted in a disposable soap opera... but
disposable or not, Freddie has played the role of Sandy Thomas since
2005, and in all 552 episodes of ITV's 'Emmerdale', with the same level
of authenticity and investment, as any role he has played since he began
his long career back in 1960. Fifty six years, and still you can't take
your eyes off him! Happy Birthday Freddie From Us All!

#MONSTERMONDAY: VAMPIRE GIRLS AND BOARD GAMES
#MONSTERMONDAY:ANOTHER WEEK, another Monday, another #MONSTERMONDAY! We've noticed that FEMALE vampires appear to be very popular with visitors to this website. So, this week, we have plumbed for the beautiful CAROL MARSH and her portrayal of LUCY HOLMWOOD in Hammer films, 'DRACULA ' (1958) such a subtle, wicked performance. Over at the FACEBOOK FAN PAGE, we are asking . . . is she a MONSTER or is she a VICTIM??..Or BOTH?
#MONSTERMONDAY:
With a wink to todays last, 'Cushing Factoid' and Cushing's love of
board games, I wonder what he would have made of this?? The 'Forbidden
Terrortory' interactive board game from Britannia Games (2006) seems a
lot of fun. Looking around the net, this product seems to have been
repackaged and picked up by several other companies over the years. The
MONSTER figures look interesting, as does the Peter Cushing Van Helsing
one! Every comment I have read from the 'harder core' Hammer fan, has been a bit sniffy about the game..But, I have one down on my Christmas Wish List! Looks fun. ..Anyone already own one???
FORBIDDEN TERRORTORY : Players try and rescue a Victim whilst trying to
destroy Dracula before he gets uber strong. Players need to collect
protection to avoid the ghouls dotted around the Count's lair. Players
get five days to complete this task. But beware one bite from a vampire
makes you a vampire too!
GAME BITS:
3 Decks of cards all showing clips of the famous Hammer Films
12 Hand painted replica figurines of the classic Hammer Monsters
1 Game Board
3 Special Dice
1 DVD Over an hour of Sound and Movie clips that interacts with the game.

#MONSTERMONDAY:
Before we roll out this week's MONSTER or VICTIM dilemma...Vampires
from the films of Peter Cushing here are a few and one extra from Kiss
Of The Vampire ... who gets YOUR vote as the one with the most 'YIKES' appeal??

#TT GOODNESS! HIDE MY BLUSHES! This is Veronica Carlson in a publicity shot rare transparency from Tyburn films 'The Ghoul' starring Peter Cushing... The Ghoul was released 41 years old this year, except in Mexico, where it wasn't released until August 1982! A variation on this photograph was used in the UK cinema lobby set too!
