CHRISTOPHER LEE AND VINCENT PRICE BIRTHDAYS CELEBRATED TODAY MAY 27TH 2020!

CELEBRATING TWO VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY'S TODAY! It was a fact the never seemed to not amuse all three of them, that Peter Cushing's birthday was May 26th, and BOTH #ChristopherLee AND #VincentPrice celebrated their birthdays on the following day, May 27th! How weird is it also that #BramStoker's novel '#Dracula' was published in 1897 on ... May 26th?!! A book that was more than an influence in one way or another, on all three of their careers??

ALL THREE WE KNOW are still very much missed and celebrated, we have many times asked this question of Peter's work, but can you remember the first film you ever saw which starred Christopher Lee ... and the first that starred Vincent Price..and are there any of their films you have still yet to see?? If you are planning a Christopher Lee or Vincent Price FILM BINGE today or on the weekend please share your idea of the #PERFECT #playlist, at the Facebook PCASUK Fan Page! I am sure many here would appreciate the suggestions, to make their #BINGE go with a #BANG!

MEANWHILE... please join us here and at THE FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE in remembering and celebrating BOTH Christopher and Vincent TODAY...Happy Birthday Gentlemen and Thank You! - Take Care everyone and stay well๐Ÿ˜‰- Marcus

FANTASY DIVAS CINEMA CRAMMED AND STICKY TOO!

THERE ARE MAGAZINES that you purchase for features, some for certain writers and maybe some for the great editorial and pics! #CINEFICCION does all those things for it's readers and subscribers ๐Ÿ™‚ Many years ago, I remember collecting stickers, transfers and collectors cards, it was a lot of fun. I was sad when it ...vanished. Issue 9 of CINEFICCION, as an amusing tribute to such good days, has a fold-out section, with such stickers! It's a nice touch.

AS WELL AS THAT, there is a whole section on Hammer actresses, with exclusive interviews, and a section on Josh Kennedy's 'House of the Gorgon' ..and much much more besides. There are even FIVE different covers, dedicated to the Hammer actresses featured with. Nope it's not written in English. but the whole visual communication of Cineficcion is quite smart and very universal. Well done, Dario and all contributors, another superb issue ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here is just a snip of some of the content... and those stickers :);) - Marcus

LATE GEOFFREY BAYLDON INTERVIEW STARTS VINTAGE SERIES!

#THROWBACKTHURSDAY: THOSE OF YOU WHO are old enough to remember the BLACK BOX CLUB AUDIO MAGAZINES of the 1980's, will no doubt also remember the great line up of interviews on audio tape and video that made up the series. Many of the guests were actors, directors, make up artists and producers who had worked with Peter Cushing, who were still working, sharp as a tack, and had great stories and anecdotes to share.

Some FORTY interviews were recorded for The Black Box Show over the ten years it was operational. Now all of the interviews, the raw tape, outtakes, jingles, sketches and are in the process of being remixed and digitized. We are shaking off the dust and cobwebs, and re-releasing the shows for a new audience, as well as those who were with us, the first time round!  The FIRST program will include an interview we recorded with the late Geoffrey Bayldon, recorded at his home, way back in 1988. Our second program will feature a UNRELEASED interview with Peter Cushing from 1980. You can also look forward to interviews with, actors Jeremy Brett, Edward Hardwicke, Michael Ripper, Vincent Price, Michael Gough, Ralph Bates, Judy Geeson, John Carradine, David Rintoul, actor-writer Terry Jones, Ingrid Pitt, director Terry Gilliam, Colin Baker, Tom Baker, Sophie Aldred, make up artist Roy Ashton, writers Brian Hayles and Gary Hopkins plus many, many others. The uploading of our first program as a POD CAST and YOUTUBE upload is scheduled for just a few weeks time. So, check out our PCAS sites for news and details!

TRAILER: THE DOCUMENTARY THAT EVERY AMICUS FAN SHOULD OWN

Once in a while a book or documentary arrives that sets a new bench mark. This can easily be said about Donald Fearney's latest release, AMICUS : THE VAULT OF HORROR dvd. In recent years, we have seen two Amicus documentaries, both fell at the post, either through pretty poor production values or more than a little sparse in their materials. With a duration of 146 minutes, Fearney uses every minute of this time, to tell the full story of the only real competition to the prolific Hammer films, during their reign of terror, from the early 1960's until the late 70's. It would have been all too easy to have covered the main stream and more popular titles, the portmanteau films, the two Dr Who films and even the buzzingly awful 'The Deadly Bees' from 1966  or the cash strapped, 'The Terrornauts' (1967). But, Fearney really set himself a task in covering EVERY film. From 'The Birthday Party' until the parting if the ways with 'At The Earth's Core' in 1976.

Celebrating the legendary partnership of Milton Subotsky and Max J. Rosenberg and their production company, ‪#‎amicusproductions‬, who along with ‪#‎Hammerfilms‬ dominated the horror film genre between the 1960's and 1970's.

Prominent for producing many portmanteau films such as, ‪#‎drterrorshouseofhorrors‬ ‪#‎talesfromthecrypt‬ and ‪#‎frombeyondthegrave‬ , Subotsky and Rosenberg also produced two ‪#‎doctorwho‬ film, a couple of low budget sci-fi movies, the psychological thriller ‪#‎thepsychopath‬ and three movies based on the ‪#‎edgarriceburroughs‬ stories.

#‎amicus‬ like #hammerfilms were appealing to top actors, writers, producers and directors who gave the films a seal of quality. The films also featured actors like ‪#‎petercushing‬ ‪#‎christopherlee‬ ‪#‎davidwarner‬ ‪#‎vincentprice‬ and many other established names and faces from the world of film and television. Narrated by ‪#‎royhudd‬ and featuring new interviews, rare footage and packed with rare production stills and publicity materials, this is a ‪#‎horrorfilm‬ enthusiast dream ticket! So, sit down, turn down the lights and prepare to witness, Amicus : Vault of Horrors.

DVD Running time : 146 minutes

DONALD FEARNEY'S 'THE LEGEND OF HAMMER VAMPIRES' DVD DOCUMENTARY

The Legend of Hammer Vampires is a documentary created by Donald Fearney, the man behind the Hammer at Bray and Cine Lumiere events. Over the years Donald has managed to invite most of surviving members of the Hammer family to his intimate events. That he managed to do so without having his own website or even email address is an indication that nothing beats pure passion when it comes to organising events. Over the years, fans visiting his events have become accustomed to the idea that they may need to send letters to Don in order to purchase tickets or that in order to determine availability, you may even need to give him a long distance phone call. As a result, he has managed to be personally identified with these events and has established himself as one of Hammer fandom most recognisable personalities.

It's hardly surprisng  that Donald's first foray into Hammer documentaries often comes across as a veritable Who's Who of Hammer personalities and offers a good overview of the regular celebrity visitors that once frequented his events. In actual fact some of the interviews were shot during those occasions.

Contributors include John Forbes-Robertson, Edward De Souza, Jimmy Sangster, Carol Marsh, Janina Faye, Yvonne Monlaur, David Prowse, Christopher Matthews, Tudor Gates, Caroline Munro, John Cater. Additional older audio clips can also be heard with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing; Andrew Keir also makes a visual appearance from an historical archived clip.

Though the majority of the documentary is indeed very much interview focused, we also get to see lots of rare behind-the-scenes footage and pictures and clips from the various films. One of the most original aspects of this documentary are the introductory scenes, starring none other than Donald himself together with John Cater (Captain Kronos, Vampire Hunter) as grave robbers on the run from a copper. After finding Dracula's ashes, all is revealed as a studio set with John Forbes-Robertson (The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires) stepping out of the shadows to introduce the subject matter of this documentary

Extras on this DVD include an audio interview with John Gilling, an interview with Tudor Gates and an overview over some set designs.
