TOUGH PROBLEMS ON THE SET OF HAMMER FILMS FINAL DRACULA PLUS THE HOUSE THAT GEORGE BUILT!

HOT OFF THE PRESS and still dripping! Tis this week's TUESDAY TOUGHY! Tying in quite nicely with our Warner Brothers release of The Satanic Rites of Dracula remastered blu ray, along with Dracula AD 1972 AND our splendid COMPETITION to bag copies of the releases and several other BITINGLY good prizes! We'll have the answer for this on FRIDAY. MEAN WHILE, please feel free to jump over to the FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE  and enter YOUR ANSWER on the thread. GO ON, have a go!

#TOOCOOLTuesday! NOT THE HOUSE that JACK built, but GEORGE. George Cushing that is, Peter Cushing's father. George was a quantity surveyor for Purley District Council, who bought the land this house sits on, and also designed and planned the building of it! The Cushing family moved in 1926, and Peter born in 1913, his brother David three years older, lived there for many years. The house has now been lovingly renovated, spruced up, to enhance it's Edwardian style by the charming Camlett family, who certainly appreciate the Cushing connection of the house! Only this July a BLUE PLAQUE was placed on the house, to celebrate its connection, to Peter Cushing.

ABOVE: HOW THE HOUSE LOOKED,  JUST A FEW YEARS AGO, BEFORE THE CAMLETT FAMILY, WONDERFUL RESTORATION!

PETER ALONG with his father GEORGE at the home in St James Road, on the announcement of Peter'S engagement to Helen, who would soon be his wife!

THE LONDON BLUE PLAQUE SCHEME prides itself on celebrating extraordinary people at the places where they lived and worked. This beautiful house on St James Road, Purley is the second Cushing home to be awarded a Blue Plaque. The first was erected at the home of Peter and his wife, Helen Cushing in Whitstable, Kent.

RARE COLOUR PHOTOGRAPH FROM THE ZOO GANG PLUS THE SMOKING JACKET CONNECTION!

PETER CUSHING AND JAQUELINE PEARCE in THE ZOO GANG! Peter Cushing appeared in an episode of the UK ITC series called 'THE ZOO GANG' back in 1974. In 'THE COUNTERFEIT TRAP', CUSHING plays Judge Gautie and appears with the very neat cast of actors who play the 'GANG', which included John Mills, Brian Keith, Lili Palmer and Barry Morse... the majority CUSHING had much experience of working with in previous productions, like Amicus films to Sherlock Holmes and theatre too! The Zoo Gang was released in a blu ray box set earlier this year. I would love to hear from anyone who also purchased it and hear what they think of the great extras and episodes. . .

THE SMOKING JACKET that Peter Cushing wore in this episode of THE ZOO GANG, was also worn by Peter in Amicus films, 'THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD' (1970). The jacket also went up for sale at auction back in April 2016. The auction house, Bonham's had a problem, in that they knew Peter had worn it, but were not sure in which tv show or movie. When they purchased the jacket, they were told that Peter wore it in a Sherlock Holmes episode for the BBC back in 1969! They dropped us a line and asked if we knew. I immediately recognised it from The House That Dripped Blood... and The Zoo Gang! They generously gave us a credit in the auction catalogue, and the jacket went for a great price! CHRISTOPHER LEE TALKS BAND ON THE RUN PHOTO SESSION AND DARK PLACES FULL MOVIE!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! A short video of Christopher Lee talking about the shooting of the iconic photograph that appears on the cover of the WINGS album, BAND ON THE RUN with footage from the photo session . . .

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAYS! There is MORE than death, waiting for you in DARK PLACES . . so the promo strap line said . . .If this is a new title to you or you have never watched it before, do yourself a favor ...and DON'T go looking for details before you watch it! DARK PLACES was one of the last 1970's Christopher Lee fantasy genre titles to make it to the domestic market. With a great Brit cast, old dark house, one of Hammer film directors and yet made somewhat, in the Amicus style . . so, avoid the spoilers and give-away pics scattered over the net, and settle back to watch, a bit of a treat!

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: VAMPS FIRE SMOKE AND FIGHTS!

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: THE SCRIPT FOR HAMMER FILMS fifth Frankenstein film 'Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed' afforded the 'creation' an opportunity to share his feelings and emotions, in a way that no other 'monster/creation' had before in any of the previous Cushing / Frankenstein's'. How fortunate than, to have cast the excellent Freddie Jones as the unfortunate Professor Richter / Doctor Brandt, who was able to do that dialogue justice. For once the one who had gone under the Baron's knife, had intelligence and cunning, and no more than in the scene where this clipped GIF comes from.

WHILE DESPERATELY dashing from room to room, looking for those all important notes, a hidden Brandt stops Frankenstein in his tracks, 'I fancy that I AM the spider and YOU are the fly, Frankenstein'. Lit by the flames of a flickering rag,  Brandt stands at the top of the staircase, holding glass lanterns full of  combustible oil. Brandt invites Frankenstein to a deadly game of cat and mouse. If he wants get out out of the house alive, he will have to out fox Brandt, and his intention of burning down the house, with them inside! Giving us one the all-times best endings to a Hammer film.

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: Van Helsing (Peter Cushing) looks on in horror on discovering his friend, Jonathan Harker (John Van Eyssen) in Dracula's coffin, now transformed into a vampire! There is only one thing for it! Hammer films Dracula Horror of Dracula (1958) Requested by Junior Fleetwood.

OUR #MONSTERMONDAY TRIBUTE  TO THIS SCENE A FEW WEEKS GO!

#SILENTBUTDEADLY: VINNIE GOES PUFF! Paul Toombes sits in total boredom, during the junket party for his Dr Death movies, unfortunately it also brings together people and duds from his past, that he would rather forget . . . Weird coincidence, when I met with Vincent Price in 1980 and asked him about Madhouse, he said, 'I really would rather not talk about that one...!' He smiled and that made me laugh! Personally, it's a film I never get bored of...!
