A LITTLE TREAT for SUNDAY over at FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE! It's a little seen interview with #VINCENTPRICE speaking about his latest role as 'the voice' of prime villain Professor Ratigan in the Disney cartoon 'Basil The Great Mouse Detective'. This interview was broadcast in 1986 by the UK ITV children's programme 'Splash'. You can see it . .

TODAY I'VE ALSO PLANTED this very rare and interesting publicity photograph of Peter Cushing at the Fan Page. IF you can recognise the character Cushing is playing here and name the film in which it appeared, you have a CLUE to an element that will be part of a COMPETITION I'll be launching during the PCASUK celebration of 107th  anniversary of Peter Cushing's birthday this month! I think we are going to be having some fun that day! Please stay SAFE and look after yourselves 😊😉 - Marcus

'NO IMAGINATION NO HORROR!' SHERLOCK WATCH WITH CUSHING NOW LIVE!

#WATCHWITHCUSHING! OVER AT The FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE we have lanched our #WATCHPARTY for today, with ANOTHER dip into the 'Sherlock Holmes' BBC television series, 'A STUDY IN SCARLETT' with Peter Cushing again in the role of Sherlock Holmes 😊

#WatchWithCushing! 'Where there is no imagination, there is NO horror!' so says Peter Cushing's Sherlock Holmes in 'A Study in Scarlett', in this episode from his 1968 BBC television serial. Cushing had taken on the role for the BBC when Douglas Wilmer's Sherlock, left the series. It would not be a pleasurable experience for the actor, and when he and Wilmer were later united on the Hammer/AIP production of 'The Vampire Lovers' (1970), Cushing remarked that he would sooner spend the rest of his career sweeping Paddington Station than to work for the BBC again under similar circumstances. Cushing would later argue that the strain affected his performance, indicating a preference for his earlier, less hurried portrayal of Holmes in Hammer’s 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' (1958).

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO CUSHING, however, I disagree – where his earlier performance is a bit mannered, he seems far more relaxed and comfortable in the role in the BBC series. Sadly, many of the episodes no longer survive – but the ones that do show just how effective Cushing really was in the role. 'A Study in Scarlet' wasn’t the first of the series that he did for the BBC, but it is the first in continuity of that surviving episodes. WHICH Cushing Sherlock portrayal do you prefer, the 1958 Hammer Baskerville or the BBC series? Stay Safe, Stay Inside, Stay Well Everyone 😉 - Marcus

PCASUK WATCH PARTY TIGON CUSHING CLASSIC NOW LIVE!

#WATCHWITHCUSHING! 'The Blood Beast Terror' (1968) NOW LIVE at the FACEBOOK PCASUK FANPAGE WATCH PARTY! This is a film that for a long time had the sad reputation of being known as '#PeterCushing's least favourite film'! A rep that was probably misunderstood, as time has gone on to inform us, it was Cushing's 'on set' experience that scored the 'no brownie points'. Like with a lot of tight budget movies from this time, today we watch them with an 'understanding' maybe. Yup the effects could be better, but I've seen much worse in films that were produced with monster budgets, and no excuse! No one looks good in a costume that is supposed to represent a 'real creature' that is actually an inch to two inches in size, and every director should have a note to themselves that reminds them, 'save some money for the big finish' 😉Director, Vernon Sewell sadly did not

BUT HE DID invest in a good cast, Robert Flemyng, replacing an ill #BasilRathbone gives a great turn, Wanda Ventham is quite convincing and committed, but I bet you she drew the line about wearing that costume, and Peter Cushing as ever, gives good value with a cracking performance, relaxed, charming and with some nice 'business' as Inspector Quennell. There's a nod to #Frankenstein and body-snatches '#BukeandHare' and the late Roy Hudd gets to make his first movie, with some well timed black humour as the morgue attendant showing a knack that even both #DonaldPleasence's Dr Seward in 'Dracula' and Cushing's Catflangue, in Legend of the Werewolf, would have been proud of!

DON'T FORGET OUR COMPETITION AND WHY OUR FACEBOOK FAN PAGE MAYBE CLOSING VERY SOON . .

HERE IS A REMINDER  of what could be the very LAST competition we ever post here on  Peter Cushing Appreciation society Facebook Fan Page. Posting there today, I requested that I would  VERY much appreciate it, if our over 33 Thousand followers, would could click LIKE on this post, as soon as they saw it, so I can see how many are actually seeing the posts posted there. Facebook has proven to be extremely trying and  brought in some very odd habits over the last year, for ANYONE trying to build communication and fun, with people who have joined the page. It has become so frustrating, that despite we only seeing between 20 and 100 of our OVER 33,000 followers clicking like, it feels like the time has come, to actually close this FACEBOOK FAN PAGE.

ABOVE: THE DAMAGING AND manipulative action FACEBOOK has brought into hiding our posts from people who WANT to see our daily posts . . . by not paying for Facebooks so called boosting, gives Facebook the right to hide anyone's posts . . .

ABOVE:The results of MAKE or BREAK future depends on followers taking this action. It simplies lets you see our posts, or facebook will hide them... as yet few have made this choice, so we can only guess, people don't want our posts on Facebook...there fore, we will now focus ALL posts every day, HERE at the PCAS website . . .less trouble, and all ready and very clean following, PLUS no Facebook playing games . .

TODAY I DECIDED to encourage our followers who click like, comment and engage regularly at the PCAS,  to see if we could get an accurate total as how many ARE seeing our likes, following FACEBOOKS recent restructuring, to see of it was still worth while to post several times and day, base our PCAS competitions there..OR to just re-base everything HERE at this website, which DOES have a very healthy following and LOTS of engagement. So, followers at the facebook account were asked to REFIX the recent manipulation of Facebook to MISS our posts, and to set their personal accounts to SEE out posts by picking the button SEE FIRST and click like to this competition post. At the moment just over 150 followers, have engaged for our supposing supposed 33,000 followers.... there is now just 24 hours for this total to improve, before I CLOSE the PCAS facebook page, and instead, focus our energies, competitions and post HERE at this website. We will know the outcome in just over 24 hours. Either way, THIS website, will remain daily and production!

ABOVE: An example of some of the lowers totals gained by THIS website, over the past few days. We did used to get these totals on our Facebook Fan Page too...BEFORE Facebook started their games . .
IT IS very sad, that after being a leading site at facebook for over eight years now, that we have to opt out and close the fan page. We have had some great time, competitions, had some excellent inaction with true fans over these years. But, Facebook isn't happy unless you are somehow paying or making production towards their advertising productive . . . it didn't start that way, and their recent move to 'de clutter' everyone's accounts, is really their opportunity to push more of their ads and get groups to pay, to be seen. Asking people to CHOOSE which accounts they want to see, over any others, by pressing the SEE ALL POSTS of our page, is a task, most followers, don't understand or want to do.  I have watched them manipulate pages and posts over the last few months, with a constant push by them, to get is to play to be so called 'boosted'. Here was the recent: ' Play just TEN POUNDS and reach 200 followers now!' . ..  why would we want to do that, when we were are all ready reaching 500, WITHOUT paying them to boost us?? It's a con. It's time to leave. Our WEBSITE hits all the followers world-wide, and get very good responses.  Our posts are gathered and shown by google images and posts . .for free! It's time to close the Facebook mess, once and for all. We'll find out shortly . .
